Stayed Dec 23, 2025Great place to stay! Host was very responsive and wanted to make sure we were taken care of when we lost power on Christmas Day because of the crazy wind. Just a nice place to get away!

Stayed Oct 8, 2025My husband and I just got back from an absolutely delightful stay at this charming cabin on Terry's Peak, South Dakota, and let me tell you, it was like stepping into a cozy hug from a flannel-clad mountain! This place was everything we hoped for and more—comfortable, quaint, and so cozy we half-expected a bear to knock and ask to borrow a cup of hot cocoa. The cabin itself is a little slice of rustic heaven, tucked away with enough privacy to make you feel like you’re the only two people in the Black Hills (spoiler: you’re not, but it’s nice to pretend). The hot tub? Oh, it’s the star of the show! We spent our evenings soaking under the stars, enjoying light music, and debating whether that rustle in the bushes was Bigfoot or just a squirrel with delusions of grandeur. (Sadly, no Bigfoot sightings, but we’re convinced he was just shy.)Fall in Terry's Peak is like Mother Nature showing off her best Instagram filter—golden aspens, crisp air, and views that make you want to write poetry (or at least post a few envy-inducing pics). We loved exploring the area, from scenic drives to poking around charming local spots. The food and drink scene? Let’s just say our taste buds are still doing a happy dance over the craft beers and hearty meals we devoured.Justin, the owner, is an absolute gem—friendly, responsive, and probably the kind of guy who’d help you push your car out of a snowbank with a smile. He made sure we had everything we needed.

Stayed Sep 2, 2024We three senior women chose this property based on price, proximity to areas we wanted to visit, the fact it had three bedrooms, and photos in the description. It met most of our needs but it took some time to get used to. Our biggest concern is that the photos make it look bright and inviting but it is very dark and kind of depressing. Everything is brown. It is below street level within many tall trees that surround and shade it and faces east so the living area gets sun only in the morning and early afternoon. Of the two living floor lamps one had a burned-out lightbulb. There are one-foot-tall table lamps in the living room and bedrooms with very low wattage bulbs. The ceiling fixture over the dining room table is oddly placed and does not provide adequate lighting for such things as journaling or card playing which we do a lot of. It just seemed tired and a bit neglected. It served its purpose but we place it toward the bottom of the list of the many rental homes we have utilized.

Stayed Aug 2, 2024Property was dingy - freezer reeked from something rotten in it from some time. Beds were uncomfortable and communication with property owner was awful. Emailed once before we went and it was days until he replied - and then gave info on wrong property. And the second email I sent once we got into property has still never been replied to. Vacation is too important to skimp on corners. Spend all little extra and get a nicer VRBO. Also - property numbers were virtually non existent - a good example of the things that are simple solutions that they just cut corners on that make things harder than they had to be, NEVER AGAIN!
