Located in the charming village of Government Camp, a small ski-town on Mt. Hood, you are close to all the amenities, outdoor activities and restaurants. The cabin sits on a quiet wooded lot across the road from Summit and minutes from Skibowl, Timberline Lodge and Mt. Hood Meadows.

With exposed log walls, vaulted ceilings, and northwest-themed decor throughout, this home has the feel of an alpine lodge while being the perfect size for small groups.

A custom made banquet and dining table provide a place for guests to hangout and build a fire while meals are prepared. The kitchen is well-stocked with new appliances and finishes. There's a coffeemaker, grinder, Aeropress and French press so coffee lovers can pack light.

There are two bedrooms on the main floor that have queen beds with hand-made headboards crafted by the owners of the cabin - both have lighting and one headboard even has outlets built in for charging that favorite device. There is another queen bedroom downstairs and a twin bunk room set up with a large TV. Between the three bedrooms and bunk area, there is room for eight guests.

Hangout in the loft overlooking the kitchen and dining area, and take a soak in the third floor hot tub high in the treetops.
The entry on ground level provides an easy way in for groceries and a secure spot for your adventure gear. The side porch is a great spot to hang out and light up the gas grill. On a clear day enjoy a hot cocoa in the the custom modern Adirondack chairs and the peak-a-boo view of the mountain top. This is a pet friendly home with a $60 pet fee per pet.

Our first impression of the cabin was that we absolutely loved it. It’s very comfortable, clean and perfect for our ski weekend. However, four hours in we realized that we did not have any hot water and in the process of testing various faucets, water quickly started leaking through the basement ceiling onto all of my children’s clothing. We contacted the host immediately and learned that the upstairs shower needed to be recaulked. Realizing that wouldn’t be resolved during our stay, we decided the whole family would just use the downstairs bathroom. No biggie – except we still had no hot water. The mgmt company said they'd send someone out in the morning, however it wasn’t until around 4:45 PM that day that the person actually came. My in-laws waited in the cabin all day for them. It was working by 6pm – while we were out at dinner – and was not working again in the morning. Needless to say we didn’t use the hot tub since we couldn’t shower afterwards. The only solution offered by the host was to drive down the street to shower at another rental host.We washed dishes by hand in cold water (there was no dishwasher in the unit as described). I realize that plumbing issues happen at rentals, but I’ve never had an issue like this were it was simply not resolved until the stay was almost over and such poor communication from the management company.

We loved the cabin. It was clean and had a good layout for multiple families. The beds were comfortable. The road and driveway were plowed but it snowed a lot during our stay so we were grateful we had 4 wheel drive. We only wish it was on the other side of Hwy 26 so we could walk into government camp.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Black Squirrel has a great location, close to Summit, Ski Bowl, and Government Camp Village. It is on a quiet street with other cabins nearby. The cabin is decorated with ski/ snowboard/ mt hood decorum, giving it a ski lodge vibe. We loved playing board fans games and watching movies in the loft. This cabin is perfect for families with older children. We brought two teenagers.

Overall the house is very nice, but if you have a large group or family the kitchen is extremely small in my opinion to work in. No dishwasher as well! Pulling out of house onto main road can be difficult, not the easiest house access, but neighborhood is quiet!! Hot tub is located on the third floor. Communication with manager wasn't horrible but it also was not guest friendly!! Two times during the trip we had people walk into house without warning!!! Upon departure, you have to take the key back to rental agencies , if you are not headed that way, it adds a hour to leaving!!
