Beautiful Triple-Lofted Lakeside Cabin near Downtown Mentone Sleeps 9

Check in: We checked 1.5 hours after check in time and the cleaner was still there. I wish the host communicated this when I called an hour out to ask for check in instructions. Cabin description: It said three bedrooms, there was only one bedroom with a door, the other two were lofts. The third loft had exposed electrical outlet and the ladder/stairs were wobbly. Only one shower in the cabin, other bathroom had only a tub. The fireplace had the glass pane missing, the host said it was still usable, but we didn’t feel comfortable. The sofa bed was dirty and the other couple didn’t want their kids to sleep on it. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook, there was no cabin space. The front loader washer had mildew and required high efficiency detergent. The kids loved the hot tub and we enjoyed the fire pit. We used the grill and loved sitting on the porch drinking coffee. It was so cold the first day and the heater didn’t stay on during the night or when we left and came back, it got down to low 60s, but the next day was warmer. Host said it was climate controlled. Lake nearby was awesome, my son enjoyed fishing and using the canoe and kayaks. Only one TV in the living room, not enough seating for 8 people, only one couch, one arm chair and one recliner that didn’t recline all the way. Close to parks, beautiful property, just surprised at size and other issues mentioned above. Wouldn’t stay here again with 8 people.4 adults, 4 kids and 3 dogs.

The cabin was very clean, peaceful, and quiet, and we enjoyed our stay overall. The wooded setting made for a relaxing getaway, and the owner was responsive when we contacted them regarding check-in information.There are several things future guests should know before booking.The cabin is not as private as the listing may suggest. While it backs up to the woods, there are two other cabins on the property, and our cabin sat directly behind a much larger cabin that blocked most of the lake view.The cabin also appears to need some updating and maintenance. Christmas decorations were still displayed in the kitchen in June, and a boxed Christmas tree was stored in the living room next to the fireplace.The back deck has areas of rotted wood, so guests should watch their step.There is no path leading to the lake that requires crossing a bridge over the creek. Access to the bridge is by way of stacked rock steps that felt unstable and potentially unsafe. The creek area itself was heavily overgrown and did not appear to be well maintained.The listing also advertises a creek-fed spillway/waterfall; however, after arrival we were informed by text message and posted signage that the spillway was beyond the area guests in our cabin were permitted to access. As a result, we were unable to view one of the property's advertised features.Other things guests may want to know are that there is no cell service at the cabin and only one television, which is located in the living room.

We had such a great stay. The cabin was clean and cozy. John was very responsive and ensured we had everything we needed. We’ll be back!

This is a fantastic place for a weekend getaway. Very relaxing and the hot tub was very clean and very needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The wildflower cafe nearby was delicious though it’s best to make a reservation.

Cozy home in the mountains off the beaten path. If you are looking for a getaway that’s secluded yet close enough to town to grab amenities if needed, then this is your place. About 25 minutes to Fort Payne (Walmart, restaurants) and an hour to Chattanooga (zoo, aquarium, attractions like Rock City and Ruby Falls). 10-15 minutes to Desoto State Park (hiking, zip line, horseback riding). Family of four with two teenagers had a great getaway. Pond for fishing, hot tub for soaking, fire pit for roasting. Really enjoyed our stay. Host was very quick to communicate and easy access to the home.

This cabin was perfect for us! Plenty of beds and baths. A great hot tub! Cozy for family/friend time and convenient to DeSoto State Park! The host was welcoming and very responsive to my questions. We’ll definitely be back!

Beautiful cabin And wonderful host

We had a great time. Cabin was easy to find. It was sufficiently stocked. We loved that there were board games. Beds were comfortable, and we particularly enjoyed the recliner in the living room. In sum, we enjoyed, ate, drank, & were merry. Thank you, John!

Lots to do, went to DeSoto Falls, fishing on private lake, camp fires & hot tob. Lots of family board games, corn hole. Will be back.

Enjoyed our stay at this cozy cabin near DeSoto Falls, Cloudland Canyon, and Rock City. Friendly host and great proximity to beautiful parks. Highly recommend the horseback ride at Shady Grove ranch.

The owner was very responsive and welcoming. Plenty of towels and extra clean linens. Beautiful interior and loved canoeing. The stars at night are unreal. Enjoyed rocking on the front porch drinking my morning coffee. Excellent property.

First let me so communication with the host was top notice. Our family enjoyed canoeing/ kayaking in the lake and lots of fun spent around the campfire and hot tub. One of the main attractions is only 7 minutes away and the other is 25.

This is a really beautiful property. Check in was extremely easy. We never had any need to reach out to the owner because everything was clean, comfortable and working perfectly. The location is perfect , it is so close to town, but still feels remote. Make sure to blow up those air mattresses and use the porch swing beds , that ended up being our favorite spot, it was a great place to hang out at night with my 8 year old son and look at the stars and listen to nature once we were done in the afternoons with exploring and playing outside all day. There are some other cabins in the area that are there with this one, but there are some large trees in between and the other cabins main hang out areas are on the opposite side of where the balcony with the porch swing beds. The hot tub is on the back right by the fire pit which made is absolutely perfect for throwing ourselves a little party with the cornhole boards out, hot tub going, fire pit burning, comfortable outdoor furniture and a grill all in the back of the cabin. Even with a large group in the cabin by us we never felt crowded or like we didn't have privacy. It really is a perfect setup. My family highly recommends it to anybody considering booking.

My family (my husband, our 3 kids, my parents, and me) came for 6 days. Every single one of us enjoyed our stay. It was beautiful, quiet, clean, and comfortable. The hot tub, lake, and porch swing beds were well loved features. We began discussing when we could return within the first few days!

Even though our trip was short, we really enjoy this cabin and honestly cannot wait to come back.

We had a great little weekend get away here! The house was beautiful and perfect for our group. We utilized the hot tub and fire pit. Very thankful for this place and John’s quick reply to my messages.

Just a few small hiccups in communication and dated fixtures but all in all a great value and very clean. I would rent this again without any hesitation.

This cabin is clean, charming, and perfect for a small group! The area is laid back but there are plenty of things to do. The owner gives great recommendations and provides lots of essentials at the cabin. This is my second time staying here, and I’d gladly come again! Great communication without being overbearing. 10/10
