New Deck coming June 2024! New bike storage and repair area and ski storage area coming June 2024!
Welcome to our personal retreat in the Northern Catskills! Completely private and set on an acre overlooking the Hudson Valley. Perfect for a romantic retreat, ski, fall or summer trip with friends, or family getaway. Only 2 hours from the George Washington Bridge in NYC. Professionally cleaned before every stay; property manager lives only a few minutes from the house.
This classic log cabin will be your perfect home base for hiking, skiing, wine-tasting, or just relaxing while soaking in the natural mountain surroundings. Although situated only 10 minutes from downtown Windham with access to a main road, this house is perfectly secluded and enjoys incredible quietude due to being on the side of Mt. Pisgah, surrounded only by thick forest and beautiful farmland. Out back, a private hot tub sits on the remodeled cedar-stained deck, overlooking a stone fire pit and a star-studded view that stretches all the way to Massachusetts. In the summer, picnic and play games on a sprawling lawn.
Inside, a fully stocked kitchen (including spices, coffee, and other essentials) and wood-burning majestic stone fireplace await cozy days spent holed up. Four bedrooms with queen-size memory foam beds (one of which has a twin bed bunked above it) and fresh organic cotton linens will easily accommodate you and your friends. Two charming bathrooms offer updated rain head showers. A wood stove in the upstairs master bedroom provides a warm and romantic ambiance. Enjoy a home-cooked meal in the stunning window-filled dining room which easily seats eight.
Upstairs, there is a TV Room with all comfy oversized couches; there are comfortable and lovingly maintained furnishings, beds and linens throughout the house.
There are incredible hiking, biking, skiing and countless other activities in the area. We have a list of our favorite things to do nearby, including favorite restaurants.
Some things to note:
(1) For summer renters, please note that the house does not have air conditioning. The cabin is situated on the side of a mountain which is usually 10 or 15 degrees cooler than the valley floor. There are ceiling fans throughout the house.
(2) We have done our best to update the house with modern comforts! That being said, the house is in a rural area so internet speeds are not always as fast as they are in the city. The internet company has made great advances in this since early 2020. We have found that the internet is reliable enough to check emails, host conference calls, upload documents, and otherwise work remotely.
(3) While the house is finished and fully insulated, and cleaned for every renter, it is located in the mountains and (depending on the time of year), some critters do find their way into the home despite our best efforts and pest-proofing. Again, we have found that being careful about food clean-up and securing doors/windows (especially at night) minimizes any issues.
(4) The basement houses our washer and dryer and extra supplies are also kept down there. However, we ask that renters access the basement via the house and do not use the garage door, which is currently due for repair. As noted in our house manual you will receive when you book, we also ask that you do not park cars in the garage/driveway and only park in the designated area.
(5) Use of the hot tub and fire pit are at renters' own risk.
We love our home and want to be upfront with our renters. We hope you will come and love it as much as we do!
Our winter vacation was the best! Check in process and instructions were reasonable and easy to understand. The house was clean and comfortable, everything was working well. The location is secluded, but it does not give you a feeling like you are alone in the woods. The view of the mountains is magnificent, the stars in the sky seem so close to the ground, the air is pure and it smells like pine forest. The house is close to all skiing areas, we went to Catamount, Windham, Plattekill and checked all the antique stores around. After skiing, jacuzzi and the fireplace felt like a pure pleasure. We would definitely recommend this house to families with pets, the property is well maintained and exceeded our expectations. We appreciate the hospitality, thank you Pavaana and David!
2nd stay, everything was great!
Our group varied between four and eight people and everyone was happy. As described, peaceful, would definitely return.
We had a great time, the property manager was very responsive when we had a small issue, it was fixed quickly!
I think this was my fifth time renting this cabin, we absolutely love it. It’s cozy and feels like home. Me and my group of friends look forward to our long weekends here every year. And every year it’s just the best. This year it snowed about a 12in the night we got there, while making breakfast the next morning the host were so kind to send someone to dig us out of the snow! We were ready to shovel ourselves, but was very thoughtful to send help!!
We had a great and wonderful time at the cabin. Everything we needed was available and it was very clean. The fireplaces were easy to use and kept us very warm. Windham Mountain is only 10 min away and has great trails.
We had a great time! The house was spotless. Well stocked, super comfy beds, and very cozy! My only comment was for the hosts to consider retractable baby gates on the stairs- We had a three year old who was fine but any younger I would be nervous. The fireplace inside and the fire pit out were both so enjoyable. Thank you and can't wait to book again next year!
Loved this place. Internet didn’t work for us, but we didn’t care because it was so cozy and relaxing. Great sunsets and sunrises from the property and a very close drive to Windham. Would def come back
Very clean! Close to several ski mountains. The owner left fresh flowers and bottle of wine which was an unexpected surprise! Large, comfortable rooms. An abundance of towels, warm bedding, hot water(even with 3-4 people showering in a row). Well stocked kitchen( massive crockpot, tea kettle, pots and pans, etc). Plenty of coffee, sugar, spice rack, and condiments in the fridge. Washer/dryer in clean basement ( they provide detergent, liquid softener, but no softener sheets, maybe used up by previous customer and not restocked ? ) Of note, it would have been nice to have the list of rules 1-2 days before to know about the small parking pad/where to park. We received that info on the way there (driving from Phila) and due to spotty Wi-Fi were not able to access until we arrived and looked in rules binder in the house. Overall, amazing time and would DEFINITELY recommend this beautiful cabin!
Met 4 friends I grew up with at the cottage. 3 of them worked in East Durham during the summers in the early 90's. Some of the guys haven't seen each other in 20 years. Cottage was great, comfortable, a home away from home. Plenty of kitchen supplies, plenty of clean linens. Owners were easy to work with during the rental process. Would definitely stay again.
We had a lovely time in Durham. The cabin is super clean and even more spacious than we thought. The fireplace and hot tub were perfect for winter coziness, and we found the kitchen to be well-stocked and easy to use. Would love to revisit in the summer!
This was a great place to stay. Very accommodating with a lot of activities that are very close to the property. I would definitely recommend this place to people who want to get away for a few days
This was my 4th stay at the house and it was as wonderful as the 1st. I spent 10 days getting a break from work and spending my days taking long walks with my dogs, drinking wine and relaxing in the hot tub. Looking forward to next year.
We had a wonderful time, beautiful views, comfortable home, great memories, this was a great find since our friends and family annual get together grow, we will definitely return.
We all had a great time and we had our pets with us which made it perfect. We had a few problems the first day but the hosts were instantly responsive and cooperative We are planning on visiting again
My wife and I spent the last week of July in this Catskill home. Our two grown daughters visited for a few days. The house is beautiful--comfortable, inviting and well designed with modern furnishings. My wife fell in love with it. And the setting is just gorgeous--rolling Catskill mountains and greenery--and nature. We had some 90-degree days, but the house has lots of casement windows, all screened, and ceiling fans. It never got hot and cooled off nicely at night. The owner and property manager were very responsive. We had a bad storm on a Sunday night and all the power went out. I texted the property manager, and she got back to me within minutes. She'd contacted the power company and they promised the lights would be on by ten o'clock. I was doubtful, but at 10:10 all power came back. We had a great stay. There's a nice swimming lake--Colgate Lake--about thirty minutes away. Windham, about twenty away, has nice restaurants and shops. There's a great bike trail on an old railroad bed about a half hour away, and lots of hiking close by. We'd love to return. There's a spacious screened in porch with a large table
Lived up to its billing! We had a peaceful, great time. Cozy and quaint, plenty of room; highly recommend it to just unplug and relax. We will be coming back!
