We had a great time staying here! Bill was an excellent host. The outdoor area is incredible with great views of the ocean. Very quiet and private. Short drive to the beach or downtown (only about a mile away if you want to walk)

We loved our stay at this property! Bill has created a thoughtfully designed and functional space filled with unique decor. The nautical interior added charm and made our time in Carmel especially memorable. We particularly enjoyed the reclining couch, which was perfect for unwinding.The outdoor garden area is exceptional—beautifully curated and a great place to relax. We also appreciated Bill’s local recommendations, though we found ourselves just as happy spending time enjoying the beautiful space he’s created. We hope to return!Tip: It is possible to walk to town but heads up that the main road is a bit busy!

We stayed here for a weekend getaway and, unfortunately, left feeling that the overall value didn’t match the price. While the location and garden area are undeniably lovely, the actual living space fell short of expectations.The unit itself is a very small, outdated studio that felt quite cramped for a comfortable stay. Although there was coffee provided, basic additions like creamer or milk were missing, which felt like an oversight at this price point.The owner was kind enough to give us a thorough walkthrough upon arrival, which we appreciated. However, some of the details shared didn’t quite align with reality—for example, we were told the bathroom featured “the finest soaps,” but they appeared to be dish soap.The outdoor garden space is beautiful and well-kept, but ultimately, guests are paying to sleep and relax indoors. For us, the interior accommodations simply didn’t justify the cost, even with the added charm of the exterior.Overall, while there are some positives, we don’t feel the experience matched what we expected for the price.

Smaller interior but amazing outside deck.

Bill was attentive and helpful. We particularly enjoyed the outside patio area and ocean view from the high top table and chairs. The home was quiet, and the bed was comfortable. Downtown Carmel was very close, we went to Mission Ranch for dinner more than once, it is less than 5 minutes away. This was great for a long weekend stay for two people.

Perfect location! The owner could not have been more accommodating! Showing us around and giving us tips in where to go. Grounds were beautifully maintained and lots of books to enjoy! And everything we wanted to do is only 5-15 minutes away. Warning: we WILL be back! Loved it!

My husband and I enjoyed this lovely studio immensely with its beautifully maintained surroundings and private patio. Tons of privacy and a view of the ocean in the distance. The owner, Bill, was so accommodating and hands-on with our needs. Minutes away from all kinds of amenities. We highly recommend this special little gem. Very pet friendly too. We truly think you won’t be disappointed!

Beautiful landscaped property. Space was great but tighter than we prefer. Host was great- responsive, prompt and provided easy check in. He really cares about his home. Home is Close to everything you want to see in the area.

The Tuckaway was a truly magical property. We will never forget it! Bill did an incredible job when we arrived of explaining the very unique property and building as well as the surrounding area. The garden is just otherworldly. We so enjoyed happy hour there at the end of every day as well as meditating in the peaceful beauty. Highly recommend! Five minutes into town for phenomenal meals and shopping as well.

The owner was very kind, accommodating, and quiet, and the space was clean and comfortable. That said, the listing could be a bit clearer — the 1200 sf refers to the patio, not the interior (which is about 500–600 sf), it’s a finished walkout basement suite with a dedicated private entrance while the owner lives above. We enjoyed our stay, but clearer details would have helped set expectations.

The property was amazing! The yard was extremely spacious and was great for our dogs to run around. The location of the home is perfect as it is right off the Route 1, but far enough so there is no noise pollution. Additionally, it is just minutes away from downtown Carmel and nearby shopping plazas. Check-in was a breeze and the room and bed was the perfect size for me, my wife, and my 2 dogs.

We loved everything about this space. Bill is an excellent host. Our favorite is the outside space and the ocean view.

The plicate patio was to die for! Calm, quiet, and peaceful. A tranquil getaway. It felt private from the main house. Bill was very helpful and met us at check in to show us the keys and give us a tour.

Cozy hills hideaway in the Carmel-by-the-Sea area. Perfect for the two of us, and the listing was exactly as pictured. Lovely grounds/landscaping/views to enjoy, and easy access for everything we wanted to do in the area. Bill (host) gave us great recommendations for restaurants, etc., and was very thorough during the check-in process.

Bill and his property were absolutely amazing. He is very knowledgeable about the area and gives great recommendations on places to eat and locations to see. The house had everything we needed and was very clean! If we are back in that area again will definitely be using Bill again!!

Bright, cozy, and tidy- this studio rental showcases the Carmel experience with a gorgeous outdoor space and an unbeatable proximity to both downtown and beach. The host was friendly and thoughtful, and the well-appointed rental made it easy to enjoy a relaxing vacation near California’s beautiful shore.

What a special place to retreat for a few days. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Main points were location, solitude and privacy, lovely landscaping, quiet neighborhood and friendliness of the host. We will definitely be back!

Stayed for 4 nights and had an absolutely wonderful time. Bill was super friendly, knowledgeable, and communicative. He made us feel very welcome! He showed us everything his place had to offer and the firepit was such an awesome touch- really enjoyed it.

This property is a gem and in a great location. The view, large patio and grounds are amazing. I brought my two dogs, and the property great for dogs. The host was very responsive and wonderful, he even shipped me the Stanley cup I accidently left there. I would definitely recommend this place.

Superior property - central to everything in Carmel & surroundings. High quality sheets, towels and Beautiful gardens & views out to the sea & beach. Wonderful property for us and our dogs. Great care & thought given to the property by the owner. We are in our 80s...and my balance isn't the best after foot surgery, so the entrance to the front door down a gradual slope with small steps and no hand rails was a little concerning for me. Gorgeous property, kind host. Wanted to do a weekend getaway for some peace and quiet. That is exactly what we got. The property was immaculate and allowed for soulful rest. Bill, the host, is friendly and kind. Ours was a brief stay, but memorable. Highly recommend staying here if you are considering it.

It was all absolutely stunning, especially the outside grounds. It's all so impressive, thoughtfully designed and so peaceful. Great place and a responsive, thoughtful host. Beautifully landscaped property. I recommend that future visitors explore Carmel beyond the main drag on Ocean Avenue. There are many hidden delights in this scenic seaside town.
