Stayed May 4, 2026Wonderful host who was very welcoming and tried to make sure we knew how to get around (visiting the Redwoods!) Very close to Jeremiah Smith Redwoods... Fresh eggs in the fridge straight from the flock downstairs! The Hideaway is a great, secure basecamp for spending a couple of days in the redwoods.

Stayed Jul 21, 2025Aneka was an excellent host!!! She was very very communicative and helpful. She told us where to find the best gas, where to get good food, and even put out some lawn chairs for us to use when we are out enjoying the parks. The place is very cute. Looks wise, we loved the space. Cute space with a cozy couch, cute little kitchen and lots of fun decor. It’s a one bedroom but has plenty of room for three people and even more if you wanted. Theres so much charm, it’s a great spot. Not to mention the amazing barn life!!! We loved the chickens and ducks, what a wonderful experience to hear those roosters in the morning! Made me smile. The issue we ran into was the smell of mildew, that seemed to get worse throughout our stay, as it got warmer with the heater on, or when we used the shower. It was noticeable all the time, but even more so when we would go in and out of the house. We needed to leave windows open all of the time because of this. I would consider the smell of mildew a really big issue for our stay. I think that with a good deep cleaning of carpets and interior that it might be able to help, as the couch blanket also had a smell. We also wish there was a fire pit, as the house amenities state. There is a small chimenia type thing, but it isn’t usable as a fire pit by any means. So that was a bummer. We really did love the place, location, the host was incredible, the chickens, it was lovely. The smell was the only problem, although it was a significant one.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This unit is quiet and cozy, on a very secure property, just minutes from downtown Roseburg. Our host was very welcoming and friendly. It's a farm-type environment, with chickens and horses, surrounded by trees, givng a very secluded feeling conveniently close to the city. The full kitchen even included some fresh eggs! There were three of us, and even with just one bedroom, we did not have to double up. One bed, one large and comfy sofa, and a comfortable cot worked out fine. Could not have asked for better. I am so glad I chose this place to book. Highly recommend.

Stayed Jun 26, 2026This was an excellent stay! It was perfect for my husband and I. There was probably enough room to accommodate a 3rd person if needed (a foldable cot was also available). Aneka was so hospitable and even left us some fresh eggs for breakfast, which were delicious! Location is great and super quiet. If you’re going to the Redwoods, this is the place to stay - only a few miles from the entrance.

We couldn’t have been happier with the comfortable surroundings and charming life that surrounded the hideout. And of course, the host was such a delight to speak with! Aneka helped us settle in quickly and made sure we were taken care of during our stay. Hopefully we can visit again soon and once again indulge in a hideout on the California Coast!

Stayed May 19, 2026This place is well located, close to town, the ocean, the river and Jedidiah. It was a bit musty and dark, and did not have a place to relax outside: therefore I spent as much time away enjoying the parks and other gorgeous features of this area. There was a rooster! The host was friendly and quiet, the bed was comfortable.

Stayed Oct 22, 2025Fully equipped kitchen with coffee and creamer in the morning. There were two of us staying there and we had plenty of room to spread out and make ourselves at home. Farm fresh eggs were amazing, we personally didn’t have to purchase anything extra for breakfast! We were given very detailed instructions for getting to the town, beach, and Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park. Already miss it and would 100% stay again.FYI: When arriving you must text the host to open the gate, but then have a remote for the rest of your trip. The gate makes it feel very private!

Stayed Oct 2, 2025Cute little apartment, in a safe lovely neighborhood. I stay in Crescent City regularly for business and family trips, but this was a solo trip without my kids. I dislike the hotels in town so checked out this place. It was indeed a little Hideout. Cute cabin decor, kitchenette, living room where I could have a glass of wine with my family in town. The bedroom was large with a very comfortable bed. The grounds were wonderfully country with the requisite chickens, ducks and cat. Communications with Aneka, the owner, were great. Would recommend!

Stayed Sep 26, 2025It was exactly as described and right up our alley. Quaint loft apartment above a barn. Surrounded by nature. Abel’s was absolutely welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Just the perfect host. If you are looking for sleek and modern this is not the place for you but if you like hidden, cozy, country experiences this is it. I could have spent my whole trip snuggled in the bed with a coffee and a good book listening to the roosters crow.

We watched what fireworks we wanted to see from a scenic overlook nearby with about 15 locals, and are thankful our hostess suggested the perfect location. It's not the most modern facility, but it's clean, secure, and comfortable. Be sure to coordinate your expected arrival time so that the gate is opened for you. This cute property is tucked away nicely amongst the trees and even comes with its own chicken and rooster population. The converted barn was a little cold on our first day but the space heater Aneka left heated the room up very nicely. Communication with Aneka was a breeze and she was very responsive over text. She was also a lifesaver when my car wouldn't start on my last day and even drove me to a hardware store to buy a key fob battery and helped me troubleshoot my car. Above and beyond host!
