Situated 20 kilometers south of Puerto Vallarta is a taste of authentic Mexico on the sea. Boca de Tomatlan is the hub for water taxis and all types of ocean excursions on the ocean side and the mouth of the Sierra Madre mountain range for hiking, zip-lining and all types of shore excursions.

La Posada Pacifica is a small inn with only 6 one bedroom suites. All the suites are equipped with a kitchenette with an open design including large patio windows which open up to large balconies overlooking the river valley. The ocean can be spotted just north of the property and is a 3 minute walk or 2 minute swim away. The owners live on-site and are always available to help you plan your vacation and give helpful hints and advice on how best to take advantage of this beautiful area. They are fluent in english, spanish and french which can be helpful in accomodating international travellers. All your essentials are available within the village including beach restaurants, small grocery stores and a liquor store.

The suites are all very well kept, the beds are comfortable, there is always hot water and water pressure, internet and air conditioning.

In addition, a beautiful space is provided for guests on the rooftop patio with a lovely bar area, space for sun-bathing or relaxing, several tables and chairs for large or small events, ping pong table, laundry facilities and an incredible full service kitchen. We also have gas or charcoal barbecue grills.

Bask in the sun, sneak away in the shade and enjoy the lush tropical surroundings teeming with birds and the sounds of the jungle or enjoy some star gazing in this unspoiled paradise.

Puerto Vallarta is a 20-30 minute bus ride away for the taste of city life. The buses run frequently and are very inexpensive at 10 pesos.

A variety of adventures await along the coastline. Visit more remote communities such as Las Animas, Quimixto, Mahajuitas, Yelapa and Los Chonchos which are all accessible via water taxi or by hiring a private boat and guide. For a few pesos, you can enjoy wonderful experiences at these locations instead of booking a public tourn from Puerto Vallarta which are often prices at over $100 per person.

If you would like a more authentic taste of Mexico, this is a great property for you to discover.

I had a very bad experience staying here. There are no stunning views, comfort is just above camping with creatures, heat and all. Power went out in the town for 12 hours and was never checked on by owner or manager and sat in pitch dark. Pounded on metal door And woken from sleep for payment already made online. We were only there For one night and cancelled our plans to go to yelepa next day as we hadnt slept all night with 90 degree heat, bad odor and cockroach killing duty… sad time for this mom who planned for my kids… advertises air condition and that is false… asked for second fan told there wasnt one…

I wanted to visit Boca de Tomatlán for several years and finally got my chance. I knew I would have to cross a bridge over a river to get to this place and was prepared. The address listed does not show up on Google Maps. It could be added if the host wanted to. I found the building on the map and tried to get the manager to confirm that I was looking at the right place but could not get a confirmation. I thought I was messaging with the hostess but in fact it was the manager who was very friendly. I could not communicate with him in Spanish which was frustrating until I found out he was a French Canadian and spoke perfect English. He was very helpful. The building I was looking at on the map was the correct place and my UBER driver helped me carry my suitcase over the bridge crossing the river. The room was clean and the kitchen appliances were not. I scrubbed the dish dry rack and the blender but did not touch the coffee maker which was filthy. The view from the balcony was fantastic and the location was convenient for me for where I wanted to fish from the shore and also a quick walk into town. It was a great adventure and a great stay.

It was a bit of an adventure finding Hotel Pacifica after a long day of travel, given it is located on the far side of the river with no obvious way to cross, but after asking directions from another gringo we found our way across the foot bridge. The suite was fine for three adults although a bit sparse in terms of kitchen supplies. Good enough for a simple breakfast or lunch but cooking supper would've been difficult. However, a couple of decent restos on the beach solved that. The life of the village crossing the walk-way bridge, watching the locals washing clothes in the river, lots of dogs and music added to the authentic experience. Truck noise on the highway made sleep a bit difficult at times but all-in-all we enjoyed our stay and would come again. PS..bring coffee....no real coffee to be found in town, but Cynthia graciously gave us some.

Amazing little town, hiking trails, beautiful authentic Mexican experience. Beautiful atmosphere, fishing, river, the sound of the jungle, roosters crowing at dawn. Just perfect for me and my daughter... We will be back!!

This property was head and shoulders above what I expected. From the location, to the sound of the river, to the balcony, to the cleanliness and cuteness of the room, to the town itself, the stay, which was supposed to be a quick stopping point on a longer trip, because one of the highlights and we want to come back soon and stay longer. Thank you Cynthia and family!

Cynthia and Pierre made our stay a lot easier. Their young son even went grocery shopping with us. I had trouble with all the climbing and stairs, but having a car would have helped. There's a very steep hill up to the bus stop. Make sure you have the shrimp mummy at low Mangos on the beach. Boca is an amazing little town! It's full of the sounds of dogs barking, roosters crowing, and Mexican polkas playing day and night. If you take the water taxi sit towards the back to save your back!
