The North Beach location is amazing! We are right at the intersection of Columbus, Green, and Stockton streets. Easily walk to Chinatown, Little Italy, Financial District, Ferry Building, Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square, Lombard St, Market St, Nob Hill, tourist sites, restaurants, bars, cafes & more! Bike to the Golden Gate Bridge! Close to Cable Cars, Bart, buses & Muni trains. Lots of nearby parking options. Walk across the street to see the 7 Fingers Circus at Club Fugazi! Our homeis great for friends, groups of couples, business travelers, families, etc.

The original redwood trim throughout our 1907 house was personally restored by me, Sara. My partner, Aaron and I, also custom-built many pieces of furniture for our home. We also made most of the artwork throughout the house. We are San Francisco artists and designers who recently created the regenerative-themed decor for a new performance venue in SF. By renting our home, you are not only giving yourselves a unique experience, you are also supporting art and culture in SF.

* 4 ROOMS with 2 Queen Beds, 1 Queen Sleeper Sofa with a thick foam topper, and 1 Full Bed

Flexibility Regarding the 4pm Check-In Time
* If you get to San Francisco late in the evening/night, that's no problem: There is a key lock box to retrieve a set of keys at any point after 4pm.
* If you get to San Francisco before 4pm: You can generally drop off your bags earlier than that (after the previous guests leave) while I am cleaning the house in preparation for your arrival, then come back at some point later (anytime after 4pm) to make yourselves at home.

Flexibility Regarding the 11am Check-Out Time
* While I request that you be packed up so I can start laundry and cleaning at 11am, you can generally leave your bags behind while I'm cleaning the house and come back to pick them up before 4pm. There might additional flexibility if needed, so please ask.

There is a Trader Joe's supermarket within a 12 minute walk.

A HISTORIC RESIDENCE

Our home is the 3rd floor of a building constructed in 1907, shortly after the San Francisco earthquake and fires of 1906. The layout, decorative redwood trim, bathroom, and windows give you a glimpse into this historic moment in time.

Room 1: This room has two large windows from which you can see Coit Tower and the Washington Square steeples. It has an L-shaped couch that converts to a very comfortable queen bed with a thick foam topper or can be kept as a couch and used as a living room. This room also includes a dresser with a secretary desk, 2 mid-century club chairs, and artwork made by us, the homeowners. This room gets lots of sunshine, fresh air, and you can enjoy some of the neighborhood sounds like parrots, church bells, and sidewalk musicians.

Room 2: This room has a queen bed with an antique bed frame powder coated red orange like the Golden Gate Bridge. Enjoy the Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress by Nest Bedding (perfect blend of pocket coils and memory foam). This room has 2 lamps, two mirrored bedside tables, and a matching dresser. There is a TV with Netflix and internet capability and the bedroom is lined with restored original redwood trim and artwork. There is a large window that faces the lightwell between our building and our neighbors, so it's fairly quiet while still allowing for some sunshine and fresh air. This room is next to the kitchen and closest to the bathroom.

Room 3: This room is between Room 1 and Room 2. It has a queen mattress and redwood headboard made by another SF artist. It has a dresser with a sectary desk and chair. The window opens to the hallway and lets in sunshine from the skylight above the stairwell. Thus this room gets natural light but is the quietest in the house, perfect for light sleepers who crave a silence for a great night's rest.

Room 4: This room also has a window with a view of Coit Tower and the Washington Square Park church steeples. My partner Aaron and I custom made the furniture. The design is rolling hills and sun rays above the mattress and sedimentary layers with inlaid gems below. The cabinets include a standing desk, vanity mirror, 3 general shelves, and a drop zone for glasses, wallet, and such. The raised bed has built in dresser drawers, a seated desk, and a sturdy ladder. There is a Full-sized Purple mattress with a large flat screen TV.

At the end of the hall is a sun-filled kitchen and dining area. The kitchen has a gas range and oven, fridge, and various kitchen tools to make home-cooked meals. The bright dining area is a wonderful place to enjoy some coffee and breakfast before heading out for the day. Feel free to just use the dining table as a desk/work space.

Whether you check out the abundance of markets within a couple of blocks, explore the authentic stores of Chinatown, gather cheeses and meats from Molinari Delicatessen on Columbus, grab some ingredients from the Farmer's Market, or choose to walk to Trader Joe's - you are surrounded by delicious ingredients! Or take advantage of the litany of restaurants, cafes and bars in all directions!

As mentioned above, this building is from the early 1900's and has some unique features that have been added over the last 100 years. Walk through the kitchen to a small room with windows to the ceiling. This converted porch was probably once used for drying clothes and now has a bathroom sink. Through another door is the bathroom with a toilet and shower/bath that was built some years after the 1907 parts of the building. This may not be your usual bathroom experience, but you are visiting San Francisco after all and will get a glimpse of the historic nature of SF homes.

The bathroom includes a make-up mirror, blow dryer with a diffuser, cotton balls, q-tips, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, ear plugs and a few feminine products in case of emergency.

The house doesn't include a clothes washer and dryer, but there's a laundromat a half block away and laundry supplies are provided.

Abundant Parking Options:
There is free street parking in the neighborhood. Most of it has a 2 hour limit between 8am Monday - 9pm Saturday. So, you can park for free in a spot from 7pm in the evening to 10am in the morning before you have to move. Since the time limit doesn't apply on Sunday, you can leave it from 7pm Saturday night to 10am Monday morning for free.

There are also parking meters in the streets immediately around the house. They are enforced Monday to Saturday 9am to 6pm. So you can park for free from 6pm to 9am and all day on Sunday. After that, it's around $3 per hour which you can pay at the meter with change or a credit card, or from your smartphone with an app called PayByPhone.

With any street parking or meter parking, *please* be sure to read the *signs* and the *parking meter* itself for any limitations such as street cleaning hours.

There is a parking lot right in front of the house. It costs $21 for each 12 hours. If you use the car during the day then you could just pay $21 for the night. Or you can park in the lot during the day and park on the street for free at night if you want to.

You can also park in a number of nearby parking garages. There are 2 parking garages a half block away. They both charge $5 per hour, with a 12 hour max of $30, and 24 hour max of $36. They are open 24 hours a day.

The Powell Street Parking garage is another option. It is around $12 for a weekday from morning to about 6pm. The price goes up in evenings and weekends, however as stated earlier you can park for free in the evenings on the street. They close between 10pm and 2am depending on the day. So you could switch off between the garage during the day and street at night and save money if you wanted to.

I had to book something last-minute for work, and found this listing for a good rate in SanFran. It was like a home away from home, perfect, and better than a hotel. The host was very friendly and was prompt with communication. I have saved this property and will book this place again if I or anyone needs to visit SF in the future.

Sara knocked it out of the park with her fabulous home! I booked her property the weekend before my fiancé’s 30th birthday and we had some of his friends fly in and surprise him. It was the perfect place for a reunion of loved ones and the fact that there are so many wonderful eateries nearby enhanced the experience. We were able to go get coffee in the morning and bar hop at night with ease. Sara’s home provided comfort for us all — from the cleanliness to the amenities, it was wonderful. Sara was very easy to reach in case I needed anything so I thank her for such a wonderful weekend!

Great location. I was surprised about how quiet the bedrooms were. Tons of nice places to eat a short walk away. Comfy beds. Well equipped. The bathroom is off the kitchen.

Sara was a great communicator and was a great host for 8 of us! The place is very clean and has great decorations that make it a great place to stay. There was a problem with the toilet but she got back to us right away and told us it was just slow. She said she was fixing it right after our stay. Would love to stay here again!

This is a real hidden gem in the heart of North Beach. Everything you need within a couple of blocks and easy walk to many SF attractions and landmarks, from China Town to the Wharf. Super comfy apartment in a calm alley gives you all the conveniences of being a local, combined with the excitement of being a traveler. The host met us personally and was extremely kind and helpful.

Great location. Nice amount of space for the cost. Communication was good. It is an older home with some renovations. Carpet is old. Not good for allergies. Bathroom is old. Location was nice. Would not stay here again.

Sara and her place were amazing! Typically when I have friends visit, I cram them into my apartment, but this time we decided we needed more space. Sara’s place was perfect for that, with plenty of beds to sleep us and it is right in the middle of the best neighborhood in the city. I highly recommend staying here if you have a group visiting SF. Way better than a hotel and you’re actually staying in the locals area as opposed to downtown. Will definitely book again next time I have 5+ people coming to town.

Sarah's place is so charming with a new sweet view every time you turn your head. But Wow the location! I can't believe how quiet it is when it's right on the border of North Beach (Italian town) and China Town. Restaurants, City Lights booksellers, financial district, trolley stops, fisherman's wharf. If you're here to visit SF, you can walk out the door to pretty much everywhere you want to see. Truly the only reason to get in a car is to go to Golden Gate Park. Sarah was so generous as a host in every way. She called to talk to me in person because we booked on short notice. She was an excellent host and we dropped our bags off early and stored them late. I will definitly stay again!

Sara was wonderful. Commumication was outstanding. If you need anything at all, she will redpond quickly. The kitchen was fully stocked, the bathroom was complete with all amenties (shampoo, handsoap, plenty of towels, etc.) The location is right on the edge of chinatown and central to all the main attractions. For us, the best part was a no fuss chechout. Sara takes care of everything for you. All you need to do is make sure you get your stuff out and return the key. You do not need to strip the beds. That was wondrful. We have been to places that required lots of work just to check out. Thank you so much Sara:)
