Stayed Dec 31, 1969We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful apartment in Sassi Matera. Very clean, and completely stocked. Managers Michele and Nicola met us at the property and saved us avaluable parking space. They greeted us with aperitifs, local breads, cookies, cakes, bruschetta...a feast. We slso appreciated the quick tour to show us the amazing UNESCO site of Sassi Matera, local plaza, restaurants and laundry facility. Thank you Michele and Nicola!

Stayed Mar 22, 2019If I could give this place a 10 PLUS star rating I would. The location is fantastic, close to the castle and two short blocks to the entrance of the Sassi. Small grocery store and wonderful deli type store directly across the street. It was close to all the happenings but far enough away to escape the maddening crowds if needed. The owners, Michele and Nicola were great to work with - very responsive. We mainly used WhatsApp to communicate (this is a free app that works well around Europe). On the day of our arrival, I was texting them our location and they were both there when we arrived. One was in his car saving us a parking spot across the street from the apartment (we were able to park here the entire stay without any problems). We entered a nicely maintained and clean apartment building and walked up a short flight of stairs to the 2nd floor. The apartment had been nicely updated with a modern bathroom and kitchen features but keeping some of the original design features as well e.g. wall and ceiling moldings., etc. The apartment was light and bright and as shown in the photos. To our delight and surprised the owners had stocked the refigerator (good size) with water, milk (several types), yougart, butter and juices. On the table was freshly baked cookies, fresh bread, fruit tart, cake, fresh fruit as well as a freshly made plate of bruschetta and many other items! The two bathrooms were well appointed with small size toiletry items and hair dryers. The kitchen had coffee maker along with tea and coffee, microwave etc. Both bedrooms were very large with good size closets, writing desks and flat screen tvs.. The wifi worked well through out the unit. After showing us the apartment the Owners took us on a short walking tour of the area to point out stores, resturants, items of historical interest and most importantly how to enter the Sassi area (which is not well marked). In our many years of travel, this is one of the best places we have ever stayed at and would most certainly stay here again if we were in the area.
