Loft Apartments - Reykjavik center

Place was great!

Pros: Location! Great restaurant right below us, easy walk to city center with shops and restaurants, easy walk to park, local pool, zoo, gardens. Spacious apt, gorgeous views. 1st floor perfect for congregating/dining together. Cons: loft not truly accessible for adults (wall ladder not easy to use), stairs to get to apt, stairs in the apt not ideal for mobility issues, not enough supplies (towels,toilet paper, paper towels) for 5 people, linens/towels need updating, lumpy pillows, very weak WiFi, difficult to find comfortable shower temp, stove burners don’t all work.

Our stay was short because we decided to immediately move to another location, primarily in view of staining/discoloration of the bedding (even though I lost the large majority of what I had paid for the over one week stay). See the included photo of pillow, which is one of many we took. Basically, my wife was grossed out, and once that happened, it was game over for us. I’m giving an extra star because the owner was courteous in our discussions, though he disagreed with our assessment, and because he said he would look into issues I raised for future guests. Hopefully, this will not be an issue for anyone else. I ended getting another place, but because it was last minute, I had to get hotel rooms for the first night of my stay until the new property was ready. The new property had none of the issues I reported regarding bedding, and we ultimately had a lovely stay. My lesson learned is that I will never again rent a property with a “no refunds” policy.

Convenient location, clean apartment, comfortable beds. Dryer is very confusing, instructions might be helpful for future guests. Maybe it's just me, but I picked this location because of the washer/dryer option and it was a struggle. This was our first VRBO stay , we normally stay in hotels. Good overall experience.

Gunnars condo was a perfect stay for my friends and family. Would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at this place. Not only was it close to bus drop off and pick up spots (public bus, tour bus, and airport bus stops were all within 3 minute walking distance), but it was also close to a grocery store that helped us stock up for essentials. The apartment itself was extremely spacious and comfortable. My only comments, which are very minor, are that the key was a bit tricky to work with when locking and opening up. Also, the listing says there’s a TV, which there is, but we couldn’t figure out how to operate it. Ultimately, neither of these issues hindered our stay, and were merely observations. I would definitely recommend this place to folks looking to stay in Reykjavík. It’s close to downtown too, which made it great!

This property was perfect for our family of 8. We had space to cook, spend time together, and explore the city by foot. There are plenty of restaurants and grocery stores nearby. The space is bright and clean. Recommend

Very modern, clean, and convenient.

This is a great property at a great location. There were 5 of us. It has 1 and 1/2 bathrooms. There was some miscommunication re: how to get into the apartment. We called VRBO and they set us up in a hotel for our first night. By the next day, we were able to get in. It was nice that there were many basics there…sugar, coffee, salt, laundry soap ( and a washer and dryer). Many of our tours were able to pick us up at the Hilton, that was very convenient. Overall, we had a great time!

My wife and I met my son and my wife's brother, his wife and their daughter in Iceland to stay for 4 nights. We could all fit in the apartment, and felt comfortable. The second bedroom has a loft that could sleep 2 kids, each bedroom can sleep a couple and 2 others could have slept down in the living room if necessary. It was very nice being across from the Hilton Nordica (easy to get tour pick ups or taxi service). A few restaurants near made it convenient if we didn't want to travel for food. One night we cooked, and although two of the burners on the stove didn't work, there was a portable cooktop that we could use. Gunnar was very responsive to messages too. We enjoyed our stay.
