Stayed Dec 5, 2023I have no idea how you take a medieval town wall and update it to current amenities, but it has been done beautifully in this apartment! Turkheim is a treasure and so authentic. So very glad we had the opportunity to stay here as a part of our Christmas Markets epic trip!

Stayed Jun 23, 2023From the moment we parked our car and walked the few short meters to the front door of Gite Winstub in Turckheim, we were met with something out of a storybook. The entrance to the property was so unique, not a single person seemed capable of walking past without admiring its old world charm and beauty. The word old is truly misleading here, however, because though the property is reportedly over 500 years old, it has been renovated both inside and out to provide the vacationer with an experience that is both medieval and modern. Gite Winstub is nothing short of enchanting! Also, the village itself brags many cafés, shops, and even a small local grocery store. And the fact that all of this charm is hemmed in by beautiful and impressive vineyards makes Turckheim a fabulous place for people of all ages. I absolutely struck gold when I found Gite Winstub on the VRBO website. The host, Gregory Neff, must be an artist to create something so functional, beautiful, and imaginative!

Stayed Aug 13, 2022The apartment is spacious set on 2 floors in a most historic building right beside the Munster Gates, one of the three that leads you into the cobbled stone, flowered, ancient village. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen equipped, the bathrooms clean, and the quality high. The location allows for strolls in the village or just as easily out into the vineyards or hiking trails in the mountains. The towns of Colmar and Munster are but 15 minutes away for all amenities. The river that runs alongside the village has access that was terrific for myself and my two large dogs. There are historical reenactments at night in Turckheim that could be perceived as noisy, and the area of the rental is at a busy intersection. To be expected! Also, the owner, Greg, was available, helpful and friendly. To be expected. Enjoy!

Stayed Oct 10, 2021We were looking for Alsatian charm and authenticity. This converted winstub was better than we even imagined from the Vrbo description. The renovations were artistic and brilliantly kept the ambience as well as providing modern comforts. There were abundant electrical outlets, a full-sized refrigerator, and a great shower. The hosts were charming and met us with a bottle of local sparkling wine. And the legendary village nightwatchman’s nightly rounds made a stop right outside our door!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Gîte Brand This gîte is totally stunning in its location (part of the medieval ramparts) and its overall style. The level of care & attention to detail that the NEFF family have put into this renovation is first class and EVERYTHING is of the highest quality. The rooms are the perfect size for a couple and the whole interior is spotlessly clean. The kitchen is fully equipped and the addition of a dishwasher & washer dryer was a lovely bonus. The small town of Turckheim is one of the prettiest in the area and a lot less tourists than neighbouring Riquewihr & Ribeauvillé. The gîte is adjacent to the Munster Gate and at about 10.30pm every evening (during the summer) the town's famous night watchman stops right outside and can be watched from the window. The location of the gîte is perfect for visiting all the major sites in Alsace and only a 3 minute walk to the bakery, mini-market & restaurants in town. Cave du Turckheim is well worth a visit to taste and buy local wines from the town and it's is only a 5 minute walk from the gîte. There are also many picturesque walks right on your doorstep, with amazing panoramic views of the town and valley. Overall we had an excellent stay in Turckheim and it was made all the better for the accommodation. We hope to return again in another season to see another side of the area.

Stayed Sep 10, 2016We stayed in the 2 bedroom Winstub in September and were 2 adults and 1 dog. The cottage is just wonderful, it's really well equiped with everything you would need for a comfortable holiday. There is parking 1 min walk away, there is a great living space downstairs with a kitchen, dining table and a living area with sofa, chairs and a TV. Plus there is a small toilet downstairs as well. Upstairs there are 2 beautiful bedrooms, a good bathroom (with a washing machine) and a small living area. There is a great bakery less than 5 mins walk away and then within a 10 minute walk into town there is everything you could need - restaurants, cafes, a small supermarket, shops and more bakeries. Turckheim is a beautiful Alsace town, but without all the masses of tourists that you get in other local towns, it's beautiful to walk around and it's really easy to get to other towns to enjoy your holiday in the Alsace region. Plus there is a train station into Colmar from Turckheim so it really does have everything you could need. We will definitely be back to this great holiday cottage.
