Cozy rural holiday home with beautiful countryside views

Excellent location and lovely to be in the countryside but close to tourist attractions. Children loved playing in the garden and was great to eat outside with alpacas in the next field. House was a good size and generally well equipped.

Nice property in a calm area. It was a bit of a hike to get to the train station (I needed to commute into Leiden). But, it was a great location for the family with easy access to the freeway system to see other cities and sites—no need to work your way out of a downtown area to go anywhere. Would definitely stay here again.

Petra was a wonderful host Who I enjoyed speaking with. She provided excellent information about local restaurants and stores. The apartment Had amazing views of green pastures, farm animals and Numerous wild birds. I would recommend this apartment to anyone who wanted awesome and quiet location away from the city

We stayed with our family of 5. Our daughters are 16, 19, and 22. There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out. We especially loved sitting on the deck and watching the animals in the mornings and evenings. The apartment was spotless and as described. A washer and dryer were available for 4€ each per load. The surrounding area was quiet and lovely. We found we needed a car to get around as the train station was over 2km from the apartment and we could not find a taxi or rideshare in the evenings. Overall it was a great experience for our family and we would choose to stay there again if we return!

We stayed for 9 days in June and it was great. The home is clean, functional and is in a very quiet farm community. Alphen Aan De Rijn is centrally located in The Netherlands and perfect for day trips to Amsterdam, Gouda, Delft, The Hague, etc. We would stay here again if we visited Holland.

We are an italian family with two children aged 5 and 9. In this house we had a great time. The house is perfect, it has everything a family could need: the appliances and furniture are of excellent quality. The property has a beautiful garden with animals and a little playground. Petra, the owner, is an extremely helpful person. We recommend this house to anyone.

We just loved our stay! We came in from Utah to terrible rain and winds but they subsided after 3 days and we had glorious weather the rest of our stay! We loved our walks and runs in the area. It was central to all our day trips. We came with two married daughters and their families, so we were all able to be together, but separate. Alphen aan de Rijn is also a lovely city and of course it is just a few minutes either way to beautiful Gouda and Leiden. Our host Petra was kind, sweet and so accommodating. We all loved the Alpacas and other beasts! The only thing that could have made it even more perfect for me was to have a little more Dutch art on the walls, skip the modern stuff and do more of the cute Dutch little farm kids in the bedroom of the first unit! We highly recommend Maria’s Lust!

The lodging was nice and tidy. The kitchen had all the items needed to fix a meal. Beautiful surroundings and close to the highway to get Amsterdam, Keukenhof and Kinderdijk.

Fabulous property and Petra was a wonderful host. Peaceful location yet close to all amenities. Very central location for exploring The Netherlands. Property spotless and very well appointed with all facilities that could be needed. Hope to see you again next year
