This was the absolute perfect place for my husband and I!! We’re not your average cookie cutter hotel type of people. We love history, art and vintage style. This property has so much character and we felt right at home! We also enjoyed brief visits with Laura and her cockatiels, who were very entertaining. The location is a little set off from town, which is kinda nice, but still walking distance. We have friends in the area so we definitely plan to stay here again and again!!

The quirky, comfortable rooms at the Cemetery Schoolhouse were well appointed with everything we needed for our stay. The location was perfect for strolls in the historic cemetery and a quick walk away from downtown Hudson.

My girlfriend and I were looking to get away from NYC for a weekend, so we explored a number of Hudson Valley towns before choosing to stay in Hudson. When we saw the listing for a converted schoolhouse, where each room had its own character, we knew we found the right location. Laura, the property manager, was so friendly and an incredible personality who was willing to offer any suggestions for the weekend. Only a 5 minute drive into town, which was ideal for going back and forth.

Laura was easy to deal with and always helpful. The property is a circa 1900 schoolhouse that’s been converted into 4 lofts. I wanted to be closer to hiking and orchards. This was perfect. The bed is super comfy. The AC cools the place well. No problems with WiFi. Town is a just a walk over the hill (which i loved). Cool old cemetery across the street with graves of civil war and revolutionary war veterans. I enjoyed my stay.

This wonderful old schoolhouse literally in the middle of the cemetery is just a delight. Laura Jacobs the proprietor is an engaging artist who has put her heart and soul into this building and given it new life! There a four spaces you can choose from and all have their charms. Color and artwork abound. All the amenities you would want are present. All the spaces have their own special feel. We stayed in the unique Mad Hatter's Lounge located in the basement of the schoolhouse. The Hatter would be at home here. The old coal room in the basement has been converted to a television extra sleeping space. The cool metal doors make it look like you are entering a castle dungeon. The main sleeping space is bold and bright with a fabulous brass bed as an anchor. The bathroom is not to be missed as it is adorned with Laura's artist touch. A beautiful glass wall mosaic is adorned with three dimensional objects, as is the shower. Alice would be right at home in this space through the looking glass. So with all of this beauty, the serene setting of the cemetery, the affordable cost and close proximity to the town of Hudson NY (You can walk to the downtown in less than 10 minutes) this is the perfect spot for your visit to the area. This is just another place that makes staying in the Hudson Valley such a treat. Oh and I cannot leave out Laura's charming Cockatiel, Tico who is more than happy to greet visitors! Thank you Laura we will be back!

Laura is welcoming, warm, considerate, and interesting. Her art decorates the studio walls (as does the art of her partner) to create a chic vibe. Each studio has its own color scheme. Ours was purple (even the tissue boxes were purple) and we might have been in Prince's guest room. The room was very comfortable-- we kept one window open, never used the air conditioner (in August), and never closed the drapes, as the only folks who could peek in were the ghosts in the cemetery. Laura had condiments in the fridge and shampoo and conditioner in the shower. Each morning she left pastries outside our door. My wife and I were comfortable, and our 11-year-old, especially, enjoyed getting to know and to feed Laura's gorgeous white cockatiel. My wife ran in the cemetery each day. There's a TV if you want to check the news. It's an easy walk to the shops and restaurants on Warren Street. We'll stay with Laura again when we return.
