Stayed May 30, 2018This property was as advertized. This was a perfect place to stay while we were in the area for our grandson's graduation from Marine recruit training. The unit was clean and comfortable and the area was quiet. Also, there are plenty of good places to dine out close by. We would like to return to the area some day and stay a little longer and if we do we would like to stay at this property again.

Stayed Jun 10, 2026This ws our 2nd time staying at The Nest. Very convenient to my family, very clean, comfortable bed. The host was ery quick to respond when we couldn't find the key. VRBO has that the key is in a lockbox, however there is only a lock on the door not in the lockbox on the wall at side of door. Needs to be updated on the site. Only complaint is the tv stations you can watch. Only about 10 stations and not anything current, all old shows. No sports channels. We like to settle in at night and watch some TV before bed especially sports where my husband is concerned. Sure it is a big expense to have cable, etc. Would stay again if need to come and visit family.

Stayed May 22, 2026The property is clean, quaint and very comfortable. The decor is a true testament to its name. Easy to get to everything from there. Phoebe was easy to get a hold of and responded to all questions and concerns. If you are physically challenged, the stairs may not be an option. They are steep. I enjoyed my stay and would stay again the next time I am in the area.

Stayed May 7, 2026This was the perfect Lowcountry getaway. We loved the quiet Port Royal location and how close we were to Hunting Island, Beaufort, Sands Beach, and all the beautiful coastal scenery. The space was comfortable, clean, and relaxing after long days exploring the area. A wonderful stay overall.

Stayed Apr 22, 2026To start with the shower had hair in the bottom drain cover a lot of hair which screams that that shower was never cleaned before A check-in which is disgusting. There was a pink mold ring in the toilet. Bathroom felt gross coffee maker was so dirty. We couldn't use it to make coffee and there was no Keurig so we did not get coffee the two mornings before we had to be on parris Island marine Base by 5am! So no shower no. Coffee not a good start.... Then when it came time to go to bed we realized as two single women staying there in an upstairs apartment where there was strangers below us sharing the property. We had no way to lock ourselves into our apartment!! There was no safety lock from the inside, not only that but the code to get into the apartment is the same for every guest for only God knows how long. The reason I know this is because there is a lock box hanging on the side of the house from when they previously had keys before they had keyless entry and the code is set to the same thing as the keyless entry code was so that place was not secure, safe or any of that for two single women or any traveler for that matter. No way to lock the door from the inside. No chain lock no deadbolt. Very unsafe! So add that to no shower. No coffee and barely no sleep over. Feeling insecure about sleeping there. Luckily the bed felt and looked clean! i would suggest a good deep clean and new housekeeper!

Stayed Mar 8, 2026Very cute place! But be aware that it is second story and to access must go up a long flight of stairs that are open risers. Other than coffee still in coffee pot, a pan of old taco shells still in oven, and only 1/2 roll of toilet paper, place appeared clean and bed was very comfortable. Just need a more thorough cleaning crew!

Stayed Oct 8, 2025There was no coffee. I've stayed in vacation rentals all over the world. This is the 1st with no coffee. It was like staying in a tea room. Lots of stuff everywhere. Close to everything with coffee just down the street. It was a good place for us to crash at the end of a busy day.

Stayed Oct 1, 2025It wasn't horrible, but the advertised pictures were clearly old and out dated. Not at all what I was expecting. It also had a bad oder when we walked in. Bathroom had used toiletries left out as if being offered for us to use. Some of the kitchen drawers were dirty on the inside, some trash was left under the kitchen sink (trash cah was located in a separate cabinet. When we arrived, we called the host as we were having some issues with the keybox. Host did not answer, nor called us back.

Stayed Sep 26, 2025It was really cute and such a great price. One counter had some sort of stickiness- looked like coffee? And there was a single styrofoam cup on the counter with a candy wrapper in it. Other than that- it was spic and span. The neighborhood is very walkable and so many fun things to do near by. Some of the houses on the street are beautiful and others are a bit run down but this property is nice inside and it seems like Port Royal is just a neat hodge podge of many levels of socio economic diversity.

Stayed Sep 9, 2025Perfect property for a couple or single person --- so cute and decorated, I spent a long time just looking at all the extra touches throughout. The giant bed was soft and so comfortable, a perfect end to a 14 hour drive. The area is beautiful and close to everything. If you have a recruit graduating from PI this is definitely the area to stay in, it was so easy to just go over the bridge to Parris Island. This property was above a larger home which I would recommend also if you have a larger crew- I met the nicest folks while they were staying and that property was beautiful as well! The hosts are wonderful at communicating especially since I was traveling alone and had tons of questions.Downside - not really a thing but the upstairs is up a long flight of outside stairs, these were large and sturdy but for someone that can't maneuver stairs well, this might not work for you. The home had a slight damp smell but didn't cause any issues and even with my allergies and such I didn't find I had any trouble - I slept great and was so comfortable in this little lovely space - very cozy and would definitely stay again !!!

A brewery and restaurant are short walks away.We stayed during a heat dome (temps in the upper 90s and 'feels-like' temps around 115) and we're able to stay cool inside. You will hear folks walking in the house below you - keep the a/c running and it's no biggie

Stayed Jun 10, 2025Came for Family Day and Graduation for my son's graduation from the Marines. I was very happy with the location. It was a short ride to Paris Island. Located in a quiet neighborhood near Sands Beach and local shops and eateries. While at the beach my daughter and I learned that it was known as a good place to look for sharks teeth. My daughter and I enjoyed the treasure hunt at the beach!

Stayed Apr 11, 2025This was a very brief two-night stay. My soon-to-be-retired husband was on spring break, the last one. After May, it’s always spring break! We were going to meet some dear friends in Florida on Sunday, but I wanted Spring break to start as soon as school was out on Friday. We had never been to the area around Port Royal and Beaufort, even though we have lived in SC more than 20 years. Our stay was just wonderful. Our attic accommodations were far more than adequate. To be truthful, our stay was short, and we were out exploring most of our waking hours, but the bed was comfortable, the atmosphere was cozy, things were clean, the owner was very prompt when we had questions, the price was fair, and, yes, there are 19 steps to climb, but they were not steep steps, and my out-of shape body climbed them easily. If you are looking to eat out while you are there, try Griddle & Grits for breakfast/brunch. You will have to wait, but there is a wetlands area right next door. It makes your wait interesting, and go by quickly, just be on the lookout for gators if you take the paved walkway. If you need a bigger space for your stay, you might try to find the listings for other parts of the house. The owner knows the history of the home which belonged to her mother. Be sure to ask her about it, including the concrete structure to the side of the house. My husband and I highly recommend staying at this rental.

Stayed Mar 7, 2025This was a great place for a weekend get away. There is no dishwasher except your own hands but for a short stay that was really not an issue, but I would not want to do a long stay there. Also, there was no bags in the trash cans and part of our check out was to remove all trash and they did not say where to put the trash so we had to get bags from the grocery to use and then take it with us to a gas station to throw away.

Stayed Nov 5, 2024The Nest is a cute and cozy place to stay! I arrived early, as the Owner was finishing preparation. This was a blessing because it gave me a chance to chat with her about the property history and Port Royal. After learning the lay of the land, I was able to settle into the Nest. The decorations are fun and the space very clean. The location is perfect! The street is very quiet. I was able to run a few miles around Port Royal and walk to one of the local restaurants for dinner. Everything is close by. If I am ever back in Port Royal I will totally book the Nest!
