The perfect location for travelers exploring the Lookout Mtn and downtown Chattanooga attractions. The beds were so comfortable and the property is adorable! Only drawback is that you share the living room and full kitchen area with the guest in the other wing. Luckily we were alone on the top floor for our visit but that would have made it uncomfortable for me and our small children.

We had a picture perfect stay at the Bear House in the Whelan wing. We found it well stocked with amenities, an easy drive to local attractions and downtown, in a quiet neighborhood, and complete with comfortable beds, plus very clean. It checked every box I could think of. We particularly enjoyed the porch and multiple outdoor seating options. It felt homey and was much more than just a place to sleep, a lot of care has gone into this place and it shows. We even walked down to a local ice cream place, Clumpies (highly recommend). It is less than 10 minutes to Rock City, Ruby Falls, and downtown. I think a few other guests stayed in the carriage house and basement apartment but we almost never saw them and had no noise issues. I wouldnt look for anywhere else to stay if I return to Chattanooga. And we were able to check in as late as 9 pm which was a life saver since we were driving in from out of state and hit Atlanta rush hour traffic. I cant say enough good things about our stay!

We certainly enjoyed our recent stay at The Bear House. It was a step back in time in this St Elmo home, yet all of today’s amenities were available. The cozy bed covered in beautiful linens was tough to get out of in the morning. The bright sunlit kitchen has all the necessities guests would need; bathrooms were well stocked with fresh towels and soaps; and the sitting areas were cozy and inviting. Plenty of parking and, if there’s time, sitting in the garden would be a relaxing respite from hectic days. The quaint downtown area is walkable, a very good coffee shop was the perfect way to start our second day - tho coffee was available in our room (along with some pretty tasty snack treats). During the stay here we were close to a couple attractions we were interested in, one of which being Ruby Falls. Totally worth the price of admission. We’re happy The Bear House was available for our stay and would recommend it wholeheartedly. Just a note, this is a second story stay (we’d forgotten). Not a problem to manage the steps, simply information as you book. Have fun exploring this part of Chattanooga!

Beautiful house. We stayed in the Wheland wing. It’s beautifully decorated , very clean. There is not one amenity they did not have available if u needed it. The beds were comfortable, great shower pressure and AC to keep nice and cool. This house is close to many places like Ruby Falls , Look out Mtn, Publix maybe a mile away so extremely convenient. They have all these beautiful gardens and sitting areas to just make u even more relaxed. I highly recommend and we definitely will be back.

We were in the Wheland wing, it was beautifully decorated, welcoming and comfortable. The grounds were colorfully decorated with many areas to stop, take a seat and enjoy your surroundings. Best part was their location, five to ten minutes to everywhere you want to go! The aquarium, art district, ruby fall, point park just to name a few. If you’re visiting the area the Bear House is the perfect place to stay.

I don’t know where to begin. This home was very clean. Super close to downtown and rock city, ruby falls and just about anything. The amenities were awesome. Bed was so soft and super comfy. A keurig with coffee stocked. A full stocked kitchen and washer and dryer. My kids loved staying there as well. Really made you feel like you were at home. Property manager is a great guy. He was so pleasant and always smiling. The Bear House is a truly a wonderful place to stay when visiting Chattanooga. If we ever go back we will definitely stay again. Thank you for letting use your home.

Girl’s weekend in Chattanooga. Each of us loved staying in this beautiful house in the historic St Elmo community. The owners thought of everything making our stay like being at home. The large front porch was the perfect place to sit and enjoy a beverage at the end of the day( there are multiple other spots on the property to sit and relax). Downtown Chattanooga took less than 10 min to get there. The house is walking distance ( maybe 1/4 mile from the incline railway and numerous restaurants- so no driving needed! Great neighborhood!

My husband, 2 year old, and I thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay in the Wheland Wing at the Bear House! The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The beds and linens were comfortable. The beds are high, so if you have a little one, consider bringing bumpers—ours slept on a toddler bed that we brought because she is not sleeping in a bed at home yet. The water pressure and temperature worked great in the shower and tub. Our favorite part was the gardens on the property which were beautiful and peaceful. Our toddler loved visiting all of the little (and big!) statutes. The owners of the property, Steve and Sharman, were very nice and friendly. The neighborhood is in a convenient, safe, and quiet location. In addition to being walking distance to restaurants and the Incline Railway, it is in close driving proximity to Lookout Mountain and Ruby Falls. It was also a short drive to St Elmo Park, a neighborhood park with a fun and well-maintained playground for kids and toddlers. We would recommend this property to friends and family! Thanks again for a wonderful stay.
