Stayed Apr 2, 2025Spello is a charming town in the region of Umbria. When I was trying to choose a place in Italy for a month, Umbria was at the top of my mind. It's a charming village with a kind, helpful, and excellent property manager, Anya. She gave us great local places that the native residents love. The apartment exceeded all expectations. Super comfortable and beautifully decorated. The rooftop terrace was spectacular. The central location was incredible.

Stayed May 5, 2025We were very happy with our decision to stay in Spello. The ancient village is a beautiful, residential, quite/non-touristy town. Spello is an ideal location to explore Umbria unless you want to visit Orvieto which is 2 hours drive. Anja, the property manager was very helpful and readily available when needed. The apartment is large, bright, well appointed and the roof terrace offers spectacular views.

Stayed Oct 2, 2019...when I booked the property in the summer, I booked a modern finished apartment with a beautiful table on the roof terrace...arriving in the apartment I was stunned by a change into a dark furnished old fashioned still modern apartment with old paintings depicting scenes of the 17th century, with plastic cloths on the table and big flowered sofa and bed covers. No table on the roof terrace anymore, which I wanted to use for drawings, as I am an artist and designer and intended to use my stay in Spello to capture the landscapes of Umbria. The agent told me that in between my booking and my arrival the owner of the apartment had changed and the new owner decorated it in her style and that she had not put the new photos online, as she was not happy with the quality of what the photographer presented to her...the owner came to see me and was very understandable, telling me that her husband was very upset about the agent not changing the images on VRBO. For me my intended holiday was over...I stayed for 10 days, as I booked a language class and didn’t want to give up that as well. I had to cancel a painting class in Florence, lost money on that and went back to Germany...my trust is quite shattered in VRBO and I hope to get a refund of my expenses...

Stayed Apr 15, 2017We rented Alessandra’s apartment for 3 weeks. The apartment was open, bright, tasteful decorated and spacious. The views from the terrace were spectacular- beautiful sunsets (even if we had to bundle up to enjoy them). We arrived after a long travel day to very warm welcome from Alessandra. She supplied us with breakfast food(that she made), snacks and wine, recommended restaurants and showed us a bit around town before she headed back to Rome. Both the local contact, Nadia and the rental agent, Luana were incredibly helpful and readily available. Luana was a fantastic communicator. She provided lots of information about the area and had great suggestions both by email and on her website. There were also many maps and information at the apartment for places to go and things to do. Both she and Alessandra were flexible and patient as our travel dates were a bit in flux. We loved Spello (and Umbria)! The town was charming and the people welcoming. It has some fantastic wide and food It is a great place to explore Umbria and all the small towns around the area. We had a car, but the train is quite convenient for many places. There is great hiking in the area. You can hike along the Roman Aqueduct through fields of olive trees or to Assisi right out of the apartment’s front door. We were sad to leave both the town and the apartment.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We were so happy with our choice to stay in this lovely apartment. It was very clean, spacious and featured an amazing terrace on the roof where you could look out over the Umbrian landscape. The views were spectacular, and at night it was a great spot to have drinks and relax. The apartment has all the conveniences you'll need, and it is beautifully decorated. I loved the exposed wooden beams. The apartment has so much character. Spello is a quaint hill town that is fun to explore on foot. There are great shops and restaurants, and the homes that line the narrow streets are so charming. There is a train station linked to Spello so if you don't have a car you can easily take a train to nearby cities like Perugia. While in Spello, don't miss Santa Maria Maggiore, a beautiful old church filled with frescoes. We also like the ceramics shops which have wonderful, locally produced items for sale. The artwork on many of the pieces for sale is stunning, so take a peek at what they have. We loved our stay here, and found the apartment to be perfect for us. We give it 5 stars for comfort, convenience, ambiance, and location.
