Summary:

The Sires Suite is a blend of historic charm and modern luxury featuring two queen bedrooms, one bath, private kitchen and laundry in which were thoughtfully renovated in The Charlestonian. This suite provides a private stay and entrance, complimentary parking, a private porch and patio, just steps away from the city’s most celebrated shopping and dining.

The Space:

The Sires Suite summons the essence of a truly refined Antebellum Charleston experience, through truly paired with every modern convenience. The kitchen is a timeless centerpiece, featuring a timeless La Cornue gas oven and cooktop from Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône, France, complemented by a whisper-quiet, American-made Vent-A-Hood. Guests are invited to celebrate Old World culinary traditions using top-of-the-line All-Clad cookware and glassware. Custom cabinetry, the kitchen island, and soaring eight-foot barn doors are handcrafted on-site from reclaimed heart pine, sourced during the home’s renovations.

Entertainment is seemlessly modern with a Samsung 4k Smart television, offering complimentary access to Xfinity cable, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu.

Each bedroom is designed for rest, offering sound machines and smart charging stations, surrounded by cypress shiplap walls and centuries-old heart pine—much of it dating back to the early 1600’s.

The bathroom is a masterful blend of history and luxury, tiled with original repurposed Vermont slate dating to 1851, when the house was built by shipwrights. Salvaged standing-seam tin from the original front porch roof forms a striking backsplash behind the hand-hammered, nickel-plated vessel sink. Period-inspired water closets sourced from Kent, England complete the Old World aesthetic.

Outdoors, guests can embrace the Charleston tradition: relaxing on the porch and enjoying the coastal breeze. Rocking chairs overlook Cannon Street, while a private rear porch and patio offer additional space to unwind, complete with a lounge sofa and Acorn barbecue grill.

Guest Access:

Private entrance and access, complimentary parking, private outdoor porches.

The Neighborhood:

The Cannonborough neighborhood is an inviting downtown area that blends classic architecture with a modern lifestyle. From here, it's easy walking distance to historic locations such as King Street and a selection of delicious restaurants, cafes, and bakeries.

Getting Around:

There is plenty to see and places to visit within walking distance. Uber and Lyft are very common and will not be delayed. Street parking and parking garages are available and relatively easy to access.

Other Things to Note:

We are three blocks from King Street, right in the middle of all Charlestonian activity. Incredible restaurants such as Southbound, Verns, 167 Raw, Malagon, Indaco, and Azur. Great places to have drinks are even closer at places like Felix, Stars, Babas, and Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street, such as coastal Italian at Allora or creative Indian at Rivayat.

If you want the full Charleston experience, a walking tour or carriage tour is a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter daily and you can land your two feet exactly where the Civil War started.

This rental achieves that rare balance of uniqueness and practicality. The apartment has a comfortable living room, well-equipped kitchen (all-clad pans if you want to do some serious cooking), and the best feature, IMO: a beautiful porch.Beds are comfy. The other big plus is the neighborhood—busy enough to provide great coffee, bagels, and dining options within blocks. But not so busy that you can’t get a good night’s sleep.

This property was amazing! I chose it mostly for the beautiful kitchen but the location was a great coincidence (only a few blocks from King Street). We planned on cooking a feast during our stay there and the pictures showed a very well equipped kitchen and a charcoal grill. However we did have some issues with the gas stove (had some difficulty getting the flame to turn on again after we turned it off) and the grill's lighter was out of fluid and there was no scrubber to clean it before we started using it. Thankfully we were able to pivot our grilling food to the kitchen! Otherwise the stay was great and the owners were very quick to respond to any questions we had! Would definitely stay here again!

My friend and I loved this rental. Our only issues were the bathroom storage/counter space. The sink is in the hallway, which isn't a big deal

We had a wonderful time at this VRBO. The location was a convenient walk to many of the places that we had wanted to visit. We especially enjoyed the porch, where each morning we ate our breakfast. Many good restaurants nearby. The checkin and communication was very good.

only issues were that the bathroom was teeny and there were no dressers or shelves to unpack (there were closets with hangers). This wouldn't have been a big deal if we were just there for a day but we were there for 5 nights and had to live out of our suitcases. other then the above, the place was very cool and we loved the way it was decorated etc. location was great and Randall was very responsive and accommodating.

My spouse and I stayed at this architecturally unique rental the first week of October. The apartment was very clean and has many antique architectural features and appointments. The owner has gone to great lengths to create an authentic space using reclaimed building materials. The kitchen is beautifully equipped with high end appliances that would suit any amateur or professional chef. The bedding and towels were very nice, and the unit was very clean. It is in a good central location to visit historic Charleston as well as other sites of interest in the area. I would highly recommend a stay here!

This property was in a perfect location. An easy walk to King Street and a quick Uber to more downtown locations. It's been beautifully renovated and we loved drinking our morning coffee on the front porch. My only complaint is the lack of warm water. We reached out to the owners (who were wonderful) and they suggested we needed to let the water run longer, as it's old plumbing and needs to travel a ways. We waited over 15 minutes - no warm water. So we took cold showers, but still enjoyed our visit.

Beautifully restored home in a great location. Walking distance to King Street and several places to eat. Bagel store right on the corner was awesome. House was great. Parking in rear was a little tight due to some construction they are doing to the property to the rear. Can’t wait to see the finished product. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Wow! Amazing space for my lady and I to explore downtown Charleston from. Amazing coffee and restaurants a short walk away; our favorite being literally next door - Southbound for a great meal and cocktails. The room was absolutely spotless, brand new. Every comfort you could imagine, and such great style. Just everything you could want, and exactly what is advertised. Thanks again! 10/10 experience.
