It is the largest city in Fayette County and lies in the watershed of Line Creek. Located about 26 miles south of Atlanta, Peachtree City is bordered on the north by Tyrone and the west by Coweta County. It is a beautiful city of lakes.

 

Over the years, Peachtree City has experienced massive growth, although the pace has slowed recently. It had a total population of less than 6,500 people in 1980. The people here enjoy access to a well-developed transportation system. Peachtree City is located near Interstate 75 and Interstate 85. Georgia State Route 74, which is also known as the Joel Cowan Parkway, leads to the city of Tyrone and I-85 near Fairburn across the city’s western section. Downtown Atlanta lies to the north of Peachtree City, accessible via State Route 74 and I-85. The city is served by Atlanta Regional Airport and the busier Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport which lies around 25 miles to its northeast.

The American headquarters of a leading global icemakers manufacturer Hoshizaki can be found in Peachtree City, which also has the headquarters of Cooper-Lighting and sister company Gardner-Denver.

 

Being a city seemingly designed to appeal to golf enthusiasts, Peachtree City has a system of paths for golf carts winding around it and providing a secondary means of transport within its limits. The paths extend more than 90 miles. It is said that more than 9,000 of the households here own a golf cart. The golf paths also provide safer areas for pedestrians, joggers and bikers.

 

In addition to several golf and country clubs within its limits, Peachtree City offers many more facilities and areas to have fun. It has three lakes in its vicinity offering opportunities for waterfront activities, such as fishing. The city also offers the finest of shopping and dining.

 

Peachtree City has been ranked several times among the best places to live and raise kids. CNN/Money and Money magazine’s list of the “100 Best Places to Live in the United States” ranked it eighth in 2005 and again in 2009. Relocate America also listed it among America’s best 25 cities for relocation in 2011.
