About Hillcrest, Hollywood
Developed in the early 1960s, Hillcrest is a subdivision of the city of Hollywood. It boasts one of the first condominium developments in Broward County, Florida. This is among the more family-friendly-locations in the Hollywood area. The proportion of college-educated individuals here is higher than those of both the city and Miami metro.
Condominiums make up the bulk of local home inventory. This may be explained by the fact that these were the original focus of Hillcrest's developer. The neighborhood also has single-family homes, villas and townhouses. Majority of the housing units are owner-occupied and built in the period between 1960 and 1999. There are plans to build more townhouses and single-family homes on golf land in the area.
Florida State Road 824 is located to the south of Hillcrest. It is a major commuter route in the southern part of Broward County. The 6.5-mile east-west highway, which is also known as Pembroke Road by the locals, connects to State Road 817 (South University Drive) and US Route 1 (South Federal Highway). It provides easy access to locations such as Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Hallandale Beach and North Perry Airport.
Near the community is Zinkil Park, a serene facility on Washington Street. It is known for its lighted walking trail featuring 10 exercise stations. Its amenities also include two shaded playgrounds and restrooms.
Among the major subdivisions near Hillcrest are Hollywood Beach, Hollywood Hills, Hollywood Lakes, Tides on Hollywood Beach, and Diplomat Resort and Country Club.
