It is used for security when nobody is at the house.brbrThis is a country home, so some things to note are:brbr-The house has some small quirks that add to it's charm, but may be different from city homesbr-In spring, summer, and fall there may be mosquitos and other insects that can bite, so insect repellent may be a good idea. While there are screens on all windows, insects may get inside from time to time when doors are opened and closed.br-Note that we live on a dirt road, so there may be dust and some potholes/bumpiness on that small stretch of the road before our driveway.br-We use well water, which is tested and safe to drink. It may taste different from city water, so if you prefer to drink bottled water, it is available at the nearby market.br-Water pressure in the home can be variable. Only one shower can be used at any one time and if you run water using appliances such as the dishwasher or washing machine while showering, pressure in the shower will drop.br-There is a sump pump in the crawlspace under the house that runs periodically throughout the day. This is nothing to be concerned about, but you may hear it from time to time. It just keeps groundwater out of the crawlspace.br-Walls are not very well sound proofed on bedrooms/bathroomsbr-There is no fenced yard, so dogs need to be kept on leash or well-supervised and children supervised.br-There is anpath through the forest behind the house, but it is very natural and the first part is wetland and can be very wet and muddy depending on how much rain we've had, so rain boots may be needed. There may also be logs to climb over in places, which adds to the adventure, but may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.br-This is a country home and we try to leave things as natural as possible to provide homes for pollinators and other Woodland creatures. We allow natural wildflowers to grow and only mow areas that are essential.br-The property is a former hobby farm, so there are remnants of this (horse structure, chicken coop, old greenhouse)br-There is a new house being built on the next lot beyond the barn so you may hear some construction sounds on the distance. The property limit is at the barn, so please don't walk behind that point.

Modern lake house with cottage character on a beautiful Canadian Shield Lake, Lac Rheaume in Val-Des-Monts, QC, only 40 minutes to downtown Ottawa. Deep, clean weed free swimming off the dock. We provide complimentary use of 2 kayaks, 4 paddle boards (3 adult, 1 kids), a canoe and rowboat to explore our pristine lake with approximately 15 small islands, which is also connected by a creek to Lac Battaille. Construction of the interior of our modern cottage with cottage character was completed in 2017. The main living room/dining area has dramatic 20 foot cathedral ceiling, hardwood floors, large windows, and a stone fireplace with a cozy Napoleon high efficiency wood burning fireplace. There are beautiful views of the lake and surrounding hills from the front deck and screened-in porch. The Lakhouse has a fully equipped kitchen with a large convection oven, microwave and diswasher. A large propane barbeque is locsted on one of the two decks. Our cottage is situated high above the water. There is a fairly steep walking path down to the lakefront that is not suitable for people with mobility issues. While we are welcoming hosts, if you are looking for a cottage to have a big party gathering, this is not the place for you. We want to be respectful of our neighbours and our lake. New in 2024 is an outdoor 6 person electric sauna!

There is outdoor patio furniture, a hammock and an outdoor fire pit. There is also a shed near the water with activities. brbr☆ THE DOCK brbrThe dock is 240 sq ft. It has a ladder for easy in and out and deep enough to jump right into the water. Makes for a perfect spot to soak up the sun on a towel or bring over the hammock for a relaxing snooze. brbr☆ THE LAKE brbrLocated in a perfect little bay, you are able to enjoy the water in private or venture out onto the main part of the lake. You can walk out from the sand/grass area to get into the water or take a jump off the dock. If you go to the main part you’ll notice we are in the middle of Lac Bataille. If you’re up for an adventure you are able to go around the lake as well as visit our larger neighbouring lake Lac Rheaume. This lake does allow speedboats and jet-skis so please be aware of your surroundings. If you’re up for a nice walk/hike/run, the lake is about 6 kms around. brbr☆ PARKINGbrbrThere is enough parking on the property for 7-8 cars. There is a concrete slab that easily fits 2 vehicles, 3 additional cars can fit behind the concrete slab and an additional 2-3 cars can fit on adjacent parking spaces next to street. The cell reception on its own isn't always reliant, but we've never had issues calling with WiFi assist on. The main road is less than a 10 minute drive if you do experience any issues (we have never had to do that though!).brbr☆ INTERNETbrbrThe wifi at the cottage is great for streaming your favourite Netflix shows, taking a video call for work, or uploading your vacation to social media. The signal is strong enough to reach all around the cottage. Wifi can sometimes reach the dock on a good day, and generally works great up to the fire pit. brbr☆ HEATING & COOLING brbrThere are electric baseboards in every room if you ever need to warm the cabin up as well as a wood stove (fire place). You can turn on the heat by adjusting the thermostat on the wall of each room. Most rooms are equipped with a ceiling fan for those warmer nights. The small bedroom doesn’t have a ceiling fan but will have a portable fan. Guests: please always return the settings back to how you found them!brbr☆ TOILET & SINKbrbrWe are on an eco-friendly septic system. This means that anything that goes down the drain will eventually end up back in the ground! Please be mindful of what you put down the toilet and sink. Avoid disposing of “flushable” wipes, diapers, dental floss, personal care products, fats oils and grease and any other garbage. Also avoid putting any chemicals down the drain as well. brbr☆ GARBAGE & RECYCLINGbrbrThere is a garbage and recycling bin on the driveway on the concrete slab. You can place your garbage into the respected bins.brbr☆ PETSbrbrOur cabin is dog friend friendly, we just request that dogs are disclosed to us. We also request no dogs on furniture like the beds or couches, and please be advised there could be additional charges incurred for any damage caused by pets. brbr☆ PARTIESbrbrNow we all love a good time, however this cabin is a NO PARTY cabin. Please be respectful to our neighbours and this slice of heaven. Playing music at the cottage or by the water is no issue, just be mindful of it as it gets later in the evening.brbr☆ SMOKINGbrbrAbsolutely no smoking or vaping in the cabin.brbrbrYou will have access to the entire property besides the crawl space which is all just utilities. brbrGetting to the property through your phone's map apps is very straight forward. Most of the drive is paved roads and the last 10% is a maintained dirt/gravel road with plenty of room.brbrWe live in Ottawa and not too far from the property.brbrDO NOT block the “street” as our neighbour has a right of way down a part of our property to get to theirs. Please park on the concrete pad and laneway behind it. You can also park on the other side of the “street” on our extra parking spots. brbrCOTTAGE LIVINGbrbrThis is a reminder that this property is a family cottage, not a modern brand new built home only used for Airbnb. brbrCountry living is filled lots of friends from bugs to wild life. brbrFrom time to time there may be power and wifi outages due to a storm or strong winds. These outages don't usually last too long but can happen. brbrIt's recommend to not drink water from tap since the water comes straight from the lake. We will provide potable water. brbrAnother reminder that we are on a septic system, please be very mindful of what you put down the drain and flush down the toilet. brbrThere is no A/C (fans in all rooms, great window breezes!) brbrWood burning fireplace & baseboard heating for those cool nights.

Indoors you can choose from ping pong, billiard, darts, 70satellite TV, karaoke, boardgames, sauna, or read a good book. There are 2+1 bedrooms. Master bedroom can sleep four with the queen hide-a-bed, the second bedroom has a queen bed, family room can be private with a queen Murphy bed. The lower level has a Murphy bed as well as a queen pull-out. The kitchen is fully equipped, excellent potable water including an ice machine, wine fridge and two BBQs outside.
