Watrfnt Cottage @ChesapeakeParadise Kayaks/Dogs OK

Deale, Maryland, United States

Escape the city hustle to relax on the Chesapeake! Savor our three-bedroom Cottage in this peaceful western shore spot where only our invited guests will find you. brbrStroll 66 feet to the water or cozy up indoors by the fire to watch the sunset. Explore two acres of green space; enjoy our pier and 45 amenities; or ask about hosting events. Stay in, or venture to nearby historic Annapolis or local waterfront dining, grocery stores, take country drives, go antiquing. Then come on back to fully relax, bond, recharge. brbrNOTE: BASIC nightly rate is for 4 occupants--`GRANDE` means $30 extra per night for each additional occupant above the basic limit, and max 8 guests allowed. brbrThe Space: Top Ten reasons to choose our Cottage as your next place to retreat to: brbr1. Best kept secret on the Chesapeake, with far more open space and country-like waterfront than the crowded neighborhoods in this area. We are less than 45 minutes from many parts of Washington DC, Baltimore and Alexandria. brbr2. The western shore is easy to access. You won`t have to fight the Chesapeake Bay Bridge traffic getting to the east side of the bay. FREE PARKING ON SIGHT. brbr3. Explore Local Less than three minute drive to Deale, MD where you can get groceries, eat, fish, sail, do water sports and more local activities. brbr4. Kayaking, fishing, floating/swimming, or catching crabs right off our private pier are all included in summer, and enjoy movies, football, indoor games, gorgeous views, and long conversations by the fire in winter. Access to two acres of private green space includes my private pier, just 150 feet away from The Cottage. We provide lawn and indoor games, indoor and outdoor cooking, swings, fire-pit, outdoor shower, other fun amenities. brbr5. The Cottage has hosted many private corporate or spiritual retreats, family reunions, group BBQ/crab feasts, and weddings. (Arrangements and charges for events made separately from your booking.) BBQ grill and pots for cooking crabs are provided. Extra sleeping accommodations are also possible for larger groups staying at the Cottage in our Carriage House Retreat, which is attached to the Cottage garage. brbr6. If The Cottage is booked, we have a close sister property called the Flat Plus which is next door to the Cottage. If you`re a big party, I sometimes even rent out my own home, `Chesapeake Paradise House,` and even our adorable Camper or Carriage House for `glamping.` Some of the amenities are share, but don’t worry--you won’t trip over other guests, if there happen to be any, on our two-acre property, because you have exclusive, private access to your three bedrooms and two-bath Cottage with its own shady lawn, waterfront lounging, dining indoors or outdoors, firepit, and swings. brbr7. The Cottage is your home base for your getaway or retreat in a country-like little neighborhood near the end of a point of land with water on both sides. Nobody will find you here unless you give them the address, which will be provided to you upon registration. brbr8. Daytime excitement & nighttime wonder. Start your days with amazing sunrises. During the day, enjoy birdsong, waterfowl, and blinding sparkles near the water or sitting in the shade under our tree. With no city streetlights, the star gazing and our unique “firefly trees” always surprise and delight folks who don’t expect that so close to the city. brbr9. Chesapeake Paradise (what we call this sweet sacred spot) was named by Travel + Leisure Magazine as the “most wished for” Bnb in Maryland! Spend time alone while you’re here or feel supported by me and my lovely local property manager, Alice. I have been sharing my lovely place next door for over 11 years, and always have the greatest guests, who have been thrilled and are so much fun to host (see reviews below). My team and I are here to support you as much or as little as you need while staying in the Cottage. brbr10. Bottom line, Chesapeake Paradise is the most versatile and consistently enjoyed space in this local area; its country-like open spaces are a far cry from the usual crowded waterfront neighborhoods and tiny lots often found on the western shore. Couples will find the tranquility you seek, and the close-up nature and unique decor will make your special getaway more memorable. Families will smile all day long because there is enough room in the cottage for everyone to have their own personal space to rest and relax; with many natural adventures, movies, and games/toys to keep kids busy and fascinated. Corporate meeting organizers love the space to be able to accommodate productive focused projects and board retreats, while treating folks to beautiful views and the feel of really `getting away,` even though its so close to DC. brbrDogs: Your furry loved ones are welcome to the Cottage. Each dog staying with you will add an additional $18 per night to the rental fee. If you have a puppy or kitty, there is a $250 refundable deposit in the event that your pet has an unfortunate accident or accidentally damages the Cottage. Please pay the deposit by check or cash when you arrive, separate from the booking software. brbrWe provide helpful amenities for all seasons like throw blankets for movie nights, extra towels, big floaty things for playing off the pier in summer, and other small touches that can make all the difference in creating your happy, memorable experience. brbrPlease feel free to contact us by putting in any date you see open (click on the tab above the large photo to see our calendar). Just grab a range of dates if you want a shorter get-away, and write to express your interest in planning a longer stay, need a short-term rental, or want to host an event! brbrWe are happy to answer any questions you may have, as we love sharing this amazing spot with our guests! brbrGuest Access: You`ll have your own space with a waterfront connected to the front lawn. You and your party have access to my private pier, as do other guests who may come and go. BBQ is located in the `common area` in Cottage, and we provide you with outdoor table and chairs, lounge chairs, a large cast-iron firepit, two single kayaks, one single open-ocean kayak, and one two-seater open-ocean kayak, as well as a canoe and big floaty things for playing or lounging on the water during times when its good to swim! You`ll have two acres to play on or explore, nearby walks on a wooded lane or by the Chesapeake Bay, a lovely country-like setting with plenty of waterfront dining, amenities, and sights nearby. brbrEven though there are four properties at Chesapeake Paradise, you`ll have plenty of privacy and space--it feels much less crowded than lots of neighboring waterfront properties. brI love sharing this gorgeous spot, and my property manager, Alice, and I interact with guests based on their needs. Let me know upon booking what level of support you would like so that we can accommodate you effectively. brbrI respect your need for privacy, but we are also happy to provide you history of the area, support with your onsite activities, or local recommendations to check out, Commissioning Week and other stays booked well in advance may be subject to different price structure.brWELCOME!! Important Rule: Relax, Have FUN, and be sure to Let me Know if You need Absolutely Anything!brbrSUNSCREEN and LINENS:brI know it seems weird--and I`m really NOT super picky--but we have had to replace many white sheets and towels because they turn orange from people using them with sunscreen on! Please shower first, esp. if you have light sheets, and use regular pillows for your head, not the decorative ones with pillow shams. Thanks! Also, the seats on our couch don`t zip off for washing, so we really appreciate minimal food or spills on them as a good dose of red wine would mean replacing the couch. Thanks so much, again.brbrNo red wine or stain-creating food around leather or upholstered furniture.brbrABOUT SWIMMING AND BOATINGbr brI love to swim off the pier and have done so with a passion for many years! Many guests enjoy swimming here or floating on the inflatable raft. We provide big, fun floaty things since the bottom is muddy. I swim off the pier many months of the year; however, there are some important caveats, and ALL WATER and BOATING ACTIVITIES are undertaken at your own risk. Please read the following if you are considering going in the water:br brPlease bring your own safety flotation devices (life jackets) for children of all ages or adults who are non-swimmers. We do provide life jackets in various sizes and thickness as the Coast Guard requires that they be with you while in watercrafts; however we cannot guarantee them, especially for children or people who cannot swim. We love that our guests seem to be very careful and use lots of common sense. YAY! br brNo children under 12 on the pier without life jacket or very close supervision of an adult. (Children in the yard at any time must also have adult supervision.)br brThe ladder can be slippery and barnacles can sometimes build up and be sharp, so you may need water shoes. You can expect the bottom to be deep `silky mud` (I like it!).br brDO NOT GO IN THE WATER WITH A FRESH CUT OR SKIN LACERATION due to bacteria that is sometimes found in the Bay. br brNO DIVING OFF PIER OR JUMPING OFF SIDES OF PIER!!!! Experienced swimmers may jump off the end with great care if you FIRST TEST WATER DEPTH as it can change with the tides and become very shallow (plus bottom is very muddy and could have glass in it so wear water shoes if you put your feet down).br brOccasionally there are sea nettles here (mildly stinging jellyfish that show up for a few days or even a few weeks (RARE) in late summer, usually for a day or two in July or August; but they’re definitely gone by mid to late September.

Chesapeake Paradise LITE 4+br3ba Peaceful Watrfrnt

Deale, Maryland, United States

This is a fabulous 4-5 bedroom 3-ba House, affectionately called Porchlandia, with spectacular views on a lush, waterfront point! Shady waterfront lawns & sunny pier, breezy open spaces, sparkling views & wildlife, hidden but close to services. Couples & groups love our wonderful, nature-filled spot, a fun, relaxing, serene retreat on the WEST shore of the Chesapeake (close proximity to D.C., Annapolis, Baltimore)! Crabbing, kayaks, fire pit on two-acre country-like spot. brbrPorchlandia is a slightly smaller, less expensive version of the whole house listing. This means the owner (or another individual/couple) could be in “The Flat Plus,” which is a completely separate upstairs apartment with its own entrance. brbrIMPORTANT NOTE: This is an incredible rental for fairly quiet parties. While you have the whole house except for the separate two-room locked-off apartment upstairs, it is still all under the same roof, so renting it means you accept that you may (or may not) hear others in the house. You also agree to be sensitive about noise levels, esp. when in kitchen and bedrooms. (Living room/Morning Room are more separate.) brbrBelow is a more detailed description of the rooms and layout to help you see how we can accommodate your group.brbrRaised Ground floor:brbr- Bedroom 1: `Soft Swedish Carolina Light” (aka The Green Room), with a double bed, is the closest bedroom to the water, has two waterfront windows and a glass door leading out to the water. Bathroom is two steps outside your door.brbr- Bedroom 2: “Sweet Memories of Changzhou` (aka Jamie`s Room), has a side window water view and a double bed, with the same shared bath two steps outside your door, making this & Soft Swedish Carolina Light a good option for people who want two bedrooms close together. brbr- Bedroom 3: `Dot`s Room` (aka The Mudroom) is smaller and has a twin bed with a pull-out twin mattress underneath. Designed as a mudroom, it has its own separate French door entrance and also houses a washer and dryer in its closet. It can share the same bath at the end of the hall or, alternately, the Mermaid Bath at the top of the steps. brbr- Study/Optional `Bedroom 4,` `The Morning Room,` (a glass study off the foyer that can be converted to a bedroom), is a calm, beautiful space with a bar-height glass table and glass coffee table for relaxing in the morning sun or any time, three walls of windows for an intimate view of both creek and bay, a queen-sized sleeper sofa, and a view of the double-sided fireplace in the foyer. It also has a sliding glass door onto the screened porch that could be left open for those who like a natural sleeping space with cricket or bird songs. In the near future (supply chain issues) it will have French doors with cross-reed glass that can be closed off for greater privacy. brbr- An L-shaped Italian leather couch in the Great Room provides a comfortable extra sleeping space. We provide bedding (please let us know in advance if you`d like to use it). brbr- A small, but full, marble tile bathroom accommodates the downstairs.brbr- A fully-equipped `CREEK VIEW` kitchen has leathered granite countertops, bar-height stools, and all the many of the spices, etc., you`ll need. brbr- The Great Room has 9` ceilings and a 16-foot sliding glass door that opens onto the screened porch, making it into a LANAI and almost doubling the size of the living room. This same porch opens onto the Morning Room as well, so a very large, fluid space can be created for gatherings. brbr- The gas fireplace in the Great Room is double-sided so it can be viewed also from the Morning Room or from the entry foyer, and has remote control for five levels of flame and heat. The 50` state-of-the-art TV above it is directly wired into the internet (no dependence on WiFi) and there are also speakers for bluetooth-controlled music. brbr- The dining room part of the Great Room has a large Bay view dining table for formal dining, as well as swivel chairs for casual snacks on the water. The sliding doors and windows on both sides can give the feeling of being outside while still indoor and close to the kitchen. The sliding doors also go directly onto the deck making BBQing and outdoor dining easy.brbr--Sliding glass door opens from the living room onto a state-of-the-art screened porch created out of white pillars with expansive, transparent screens. The porch, which has a full couch, gas firepit, rocking and dining chairs/table leads out to the deck while also opening, via glass slider, to the Morning Room.brbrThe upstairs configuration:brbr- Bedroom 5: `The Sunrise Suite` Master Bedroom has a queen-sized bed, windows galore, a wet-bar kitchen, built in remote-controlled electric wall fireplace and TV, Bluetooth speakers, sitting area, and dining area, as well as outdoor lounging/dining on its balcony. It is adorned with a huge master bath with a `retro` natural teak vanity, large rain shower (w jets, bench, and grab bars) and a roomy 68” ivory soaking tub and toilet with spectacular corner-window views of the Bay (best `toilet view` ever!).brbr- The smaller `Mermaid Bathroom` in the hallway has a “step down” shower and is a common bath that creates a second option to accommodate downstairs guests. brbrWhile the downstairs will be very clean, some of the owner`s private possessions will be present since this is also her private residence for certain times of the year. So far, folks have loved this space and were happy to agree to this special situation. :-)brbrWe provide helpful amenities for all seasons like throw blankets for movie nights, extra towels, big floaty things for playing off the pier in summer, and other small touches that can make all the difference in creating your happy, memorable experience.brbrYou`ll enjoy gorgeous views from the screened porch, decks, and upscale sliding glass windows and doors galore....take in the moon and stars, both sunrise and sunset views, and sparkling water, especially dazzling in fall and winter. brbrEnjoy the gas bbq, firepit, tree swings, double hammock, English `tree gardens,` outdoor recliner chairs, outdoor dining table, and the pier for stargazing, crabbing, swimming, sunning yourself, floating, kayaking, canoeing, bird watching, or just hanging out. brbrbrFive is the base number of guests -- $35 extra per night for each additional occupant up to eight without pre-approval. With owner approval, you may have up to 12 when you add the serene “Solarium/Bedroom” ($70/night more—an option when owner is living in The Flat). brbrAlso, by request, guests can book a special discounted session with Shawn of `The Work,` (of Byron Katie), an amazing and very simple form of self-inquiry for relieving stress and solving problems.brWelcome!!! Important Rule: Relax, Have FUN, and Let me Know if You need Anything!brbrWhen you arrive, park to the left nearest our big tree and walk left toward the water, and through the huge screened porch to the house`s main entrance.brbrbrABOUT SWIMMING AND BOATINGbr brI love to swim off the pier and have done so with a passion for many years! Many guests enjoy swimming here or floating on the inflatable raft. We provide big, fun floaty things since the bottom is muddy. Feel free to text me when you`re planning to go out. Most folks like to go out toward the bay if it`s not windy and turn right -- there`s a little sand bar/island there and another creek to paddle down, or just take a left and go into the other half of our creek. These kayaks maneuver best if you put the paddle up near the front of the kayak when you want to turn. Don`t go far out into the bay.br brPlease drop your kayaks at the end of the pier. Hold rope and go down the ladder which can be slippery or have sharp barnacles (if that`s too difficult, you can launch off of the shoreline, but that causes erosion). Be careful and wear water shoes if possible.brbrbrFIRESbr:-) It is critical to not leave the fire-pit burning unattended or without the screen cover. Please douse it with water when you retire.

Chesapeake Sparkles Sky-Lit Studio Flat + Solarium

Deale, Maryland, United States

Your party will have two lovely private spaces, connected by a door, on the second floor of the Chesapeake Paradise House. brbr1) THE FLAT PLUS [The Ascended Space]: brLight, modern, open studio loft, creek-view skylights. A private apartment, completely separate from our house downstairs. The Flat has its own separate entrance on the waterside of the house. brbrLuxurious marble bath with deep freestanding tub and large European shower. Leather couch, writing desk, well-appointed granite wet bar/kitchen with microwave and refrigerator/ freezer, bar-height table, electric wood stove. brbrThe Flat has a queen bed, wireless internet with varied workspaces, flat-screen TV/DVD player, HDML cable for Netflix, iPod dock. brbrThe Flat is a completely separate space (private enough to often be used by honeymooners!) with its own entrance. brbr2) THE SOLARIUM (with optional bathroom): brThe Solarium is unique in that it has windows on all three sides for both sunrise/moonrise and sunset views. This very peaceful sun-drenched space that is attached to The Flat by a glass sound-dampening door. It has a wonderful, white leather couch and double bed, its own small balcony. brbrYou access the Solarium from The Flat by taking walking up two steps & going through the sound-dampening glass door. brbrMany guests take a break for a fun, restorative, or romantic retreat; others come to Light Landing to complete writing, art, or other projects. We've had countless happy guests come for their private anniversary, birthday, and even honeymoon, along with their wedding party, all of whom felt they had plenty of privacy and so many have become “regulars!” brbrEven though you can read hundreds of thrilled reviews below, we have captured one that conveys the spirit of the Light Landing experience: “My husband and I had the greatest experience at Shawn’s place. We were greeted by Shawn with a handful of daffodils that she freshly picked out of her garden and placed in a sweet vase. Those little, thoughtful details are all over this Flat! Some of our favorite things about this stay were the super deep bathtub, all of the natural light facing the beautiful bay (there are so many windows!!), the cleanliness, our privacy, the incredibly comfortable bed, and pretty much everything! The descriptions don’t do this place justice. Our expectations were exceeded in every way, and we are already planning our next visit. After exploring D.C. or Annapolis on a couple of the days, we found ourselves excited to get to escape back to this serene gem. brbrWireless internet (or Ethernet cable for direct connection) with varied work spaces, SMART TV with 40” flat screen and free Netflix or HDMI cable, and for music, a wireless Bluetooth speaker or DVD player with access to owners extensive DVD collection. brbrWhite ash wood floors and whole house fire sprinkler system throughout. Totally relax and play in Light Landing's shady lawn and bright open spaces; bbq, and fire pit outdoors; tree swings and double hammock; English “tree gardens,” kayaks, crabbing, and our relaxing pier afford a peaceful and inspirational setting any time of the year for your stay in the Washington Metro area. Includes use of pier, screened porch, fire pit, gas BBQ, kayaks, swings, entire country-like acreage. brbrWe provide helpful amenities for all seasons like throw blankets for movie nights, extra towels, big floaty things for playing off the pier in summer, and other small touches that can make all the difference in creating your happy, memorable experience. brbrWe consider including children, but would want to have a conversation to make sure it’s a good fit for you.brbrAn option for bigger parties: Take a look at the whole house listing by searching Chesapeake Paradise House-Stunning 7br4ba Waterfront on VRBO.br brThis includes a description of the bedrooms/bathrooms configurations and the various combinations of rooms that you can rent. brbrNOTE: There is another romantic suite on your floor as well as other accommodations in the house, so while you have your own completely separate space, you may occasionally hear the owner or other guests. However, this has been the case for 14 years and we've always received stellar reviews. brbrI’ve asked the guests in the Sunrise Suite to not use your small balcony and to leave the glass door and windows next to it locked to ensure both your and their privacy. FYI… at this time I have not decided whether to get blinds for the really big windows because the view is spectacular, and they are high enough so that no one can see into the living areas from down below and no one goes into the field. brbrYou will open your eyes to beautiful reflections on the water at night and gorgeous light in the morning. Even though there is a bed in the Solarium, most guests are choosing to sleep in the Flat, which is darker and more private. If you have a second couple or are using both rooms for sleeping, just know that the Solarium will have early morning light. So far, our guests have been thrilled with us, and we've been thrilled with them! What a cool thing. brbrHope to see you soon!brWelcome!!! Important Rule: Relax, Have FUN, and Let me Know if You need Anything!brbrSTAINING, SUNSCREEN, and FABRIC:brI know it seems weird--and I'm really NOT super picky--but we have had to replace many white sheets and towels because they turn orange from people using them with sunscreen on! Please shower first, esp. if you have light sheets, and use regular pillows for your head, not the decorative ones with pillow shams. Thanks! brbrNo red wine or stain-creating food around leather or upholstered furniture.brbrABOUT SWIMMING AND BOATINGbr brI love to swim off the pier and have done so with a passion for many years! You can expect the bottom to be deep silky mud (I like it!).br brDO NOT GO IN THE WATER WITH A FRESH CUT OR SKIN LACERATION due to bacteria that is sometimes found in the Bay. br brNO DIVING OFF PIER OR JUMPING OFF SIDES OF PIER!!!! Experienced swimmers may jump off the end with great care if you FIRST TEST WATER DEPTH as it can change with the tides and become very shallow (plus bottom is very muddy and could have glass in it so wear water shoes if you put your feet down).br brOccasionally there are sea nettles here (mildly stinging jellyfish that show up for a few days or even a few weeks (RARE) in late summer, usually for a day or two in July or August; but they’re definitely gone by mid to late September.br brI’d love to help you get set up for kayaking if I’m home, and to know that you're going out and for how long. Feel free to text me when you're planning to go out. Most folks like to go out toward the bay if it's not windy and turn right -- there's a little sand bar/island there and another creek to paddle down, or just take a left and go into the other half of our creek. These kayaks maneuver best if you put the paddle up near the front of the kayak when you want to turn. Don't go far out into the bay.br brPlease drop your kayaks at the end of the pier. Hold rope and go down the ladder which can be slippery or have sharp barnacles (if that's too difficult, you can launch off of the shoreline, but that causes erosion). Be careful and wear water shoes if possible.brbrFIRESbr:-) It is critical not to leave the fire-pit burning unattended or without the screen cover. Please douse it with water when you retire. Also put caps on the Tikki torches (or ask me to). brbr*No candles except the ones provided in glass chimneys; NEVER leave them burning unsupervised. brbr*Please use only non-abrasives sponges or cleaners on granite countertop, sinks, tub. brbr*We are dog lovers, but don't allow dogs in the Flat We have had guests ask if their friends could bring quiet dogs for the day--but they must stay outside. brbr*We DO allow well-trained dogs to stay at our Cottage next door--ask about that if you wanted to bring yours! brbr*Check-in and out are sometimes negotiable if there are not guests before or after you, or if someone is leaving early/arriving late. :-) Default is 3 p.m. check-in and 10 a.m. check-out. Let me know if you want something different and I'll see if I can make it work.brbr**No smoking in or within 100 feet of the house, cottage, pier, or waterfront. brbrFYI… at this time I have not decided whether to get blinds for the really big windows because the view is spectacular, and they are high enough so that no one can see into the living areas from down below and no one goes into the field. You will open your eyes to beautiful reflections on the water at night and gorgeous light in the morning. Even though there is a bed in the Solarium, most guests are choosing to sleep in the Flat, which is darker and more private. If you have a second couple or are using both rooms for sleeping, just know that the Solarium will have early morning light.”br brSince our big remodel and the addition of two balconies, It is important to understand that
