Historic 5BR Marigny home with arcade room & patio. Walk to Frenchmen, minutes to the French Quarter

New Orleans, Louisiana, United States

Welcome to your group’s Marigny retreat steps from Frenchmen Street:brbr- Sleeps 10 | 5 bedrooms | 5 beds | 3 bathsbr- Game room w/ arcade classics & giant Connect 4br- Chef’s kitchen & spacious dining areabr- Private backyard deck w/ outdoor seatingbr- In-unit laundry, Smart TVs & fast internetbrbrYou’ll have total privacy throughout your stay, but I’m always just a message away if you need anything. From Frenchmen Street tips to festival guidance, dining recommendations, or booking tours, I’m happy to act as your personal NOLA concierge.brbr★ Fantastic host, quick replies and incredible recommendations.brbrThe French Quarter is New Orleans’ oldest and most expensive neighborhood, but homeowners who seek its densely urban layout, historic appeal, and walkability can find those same attributes in the neighboring Marigny Triangle. In some ways, the Marigny Triangle is superior to the French Quarter: sandwiched between the Vieux Carre and the trending Bywater, it enjoys proximity to amenities in both neighborhoods. This home is ideally located only a short distance to numerous New Orleans landmarks, including The Spotted Cat Music Club (0.7 Miles), Jackson Square (1.1 Miles), JAMNOLA (1.0 Miles), and Caesar's Superdome/Smoothie King Center (2.5 Miles). brbrFaubourg MarignybrbrResidents of the Faubourg (an ancient French term for suburb) Marigny are very proud of their neighborhood...and who can blame them brbrHere in this small wedge of real estate located just downriver from the French Quarter, you'll find everything that makes New Orleans a uniquely wonderful place. The jazz clubs lining Frenchmen Street are world-famous, and every night you can hear big-name acts jamming with the hippest stars of tomorrow. The Marigny is home to some of the city's trendiest restaurants: places where new chefs constantly reinvent the city's cuisine. Neighborhood galleries and antique stories offer gems for every pocketbook, from museum-quality art to thrift-shop chic. And the area's eclectic late Georgian, Creole, and Greek Revival houses nestle closely together, forming a fascinating and varied cityscape.brbrThe Marigny's boundaries as defined by the City Planning Commission are: North Rampart Street and St. Claude Avenue to the north, Franklin Avenue to the east, the Mississippi River to the south and Esplanade Avenue to the west.brbrThe Marigny was laid out in the first decade of the 19th century by eccentric Creole millionaire developer Bernard Xavier Philippe de Marigny de Mandeville on land that had been his family plantation, just downriver from the old city limits of New Orleans. The portion of the Marigny closer to the river was built up first; the area on the side of St. Claude Avenue (formerly Goodchildren Street) away from the river was sometimes called New Marigny.brbrElysian Fields Avenue, named after the Champs-Élysées in Paris, was designed to be the main street of the Faubourg Marigny. It was the first street in New Orleans to extend all the way from the riverfront straight to Lake Pontchartrain, 8 km (5 miles) away. From 1830-31, the Pontchartrain Railroad was built, with tracks running down the center of Elysian Fields. The area at the other end of the rail line developed into Milneburg. Marigny's town square, Washington Square, fronts Elysian Fields.brbrThe neighborhood declined in the mid-20th century but came back strong in the late 20th century. After profiteering centered around the 1984 World's Fair drove many long-term residents from the French Quarter into the Marigny. Frenchmen Street soon developed the city's premier collection of live music venues and restaurants, and is a popular destination for both locals and knowledgeable out-of-towners.brIf you have any questions about the neighborhood, please send us a message!brbrbrYou will have full access to:brbr • 5 bedroomsbr • 3 full bathsbr • Fully equipped kitchenbr • Dining room + lounge areasbr • Game roombr • Laundry areabr • Back patio + outdoor seatingbrbr★ Huge house, everyone had space to spread out and relax.brbrGather your group for an unforgettable stay in the heart of Marigny, where historic charm meets modern comfort. Historic Mid-City Escape, Perfect Festival Getaway

New Orleans, Louisiana, United States

Summary:brbrYou'll love staying in this beautiful home in the Mid-City neighborhood of New Orleans! Live like a local as you enjoy:brbr- A home originally built in 1910, but newly renovated while keeping many of the original materials. brbr- Delicious local NOLA restaurants and bars that are within walking distancebrbr- Easy access to the historic French Quarter - The street car, bike rentals, and the Lafitte Greenway are all within 2 blocks of the homebrbr- Easy access to beautiful City Park brbr- High speed wifibrbrbrbrThe Space:brbrThe home is nice and open with plenty of space to relax. The home includes central heating and A/C, a washer and dryer within the home, super high speed fiber optic internet service, high pressure shower, ceiling fans in both of the bedrooms and living room to keep cool, and much more. The living room and kitchen are nice open spaces with plenty of seating and space to relax and eat. Both of the bedrooms have brand new carpet floors and closets to keep everything cozy and organized. brbrbrbrThe home was originally built around 1910 and recently renovated, but we maintained many of the historical elements of the home including: Trim work, the original wood floors (refinished), and the original doors and windows maintaining it's New Orleans feel. Also, the front porch has plenty of sun light and is a great place to relax and have a drink.brbrbrbrThis location is a tri-plex with three total homes on the location: this home is the two bedroom unit on the right side facing the front yard. It's a beautiful home and in an amazing location.brbrbrbrGuest Access:brbrGuest will have access to the home through a smart lock on the front door. To ensure safety, each guest is assigned their own four digit code which activates at their scheduled check-in, and deactivates after their check-out. The front porch is shared with the home next door, but they will have their own space with a table and chairs to be able to enjoy the nice weather. brbrbrbrParking is super convenient, the street directly in front of the house is very well lit and has free parking on both sides, as do all of the surrounding streets. Aside from big events like Mardi Gras day you won't have a problem finding a spot very close to the home.brbrbrbrThe Neighborhood:brbrThis location is AMAZING. Within just a few blocks you have: two giant grocery stores, CVS, some of the most popular bars and restaurants in the city, the Lafitte Greenway which is a bike path that goes directly into the French Quarter, City Park, multiple gyms and fitness centers, the famous Street Car, and bike rentals. You literally never have to drive or Uber/Lyft anywhere if you don't want.brbrbrbrAnd for big events and festivals, it doesn't get much better. This location is only one block away from the biggest Mardi Gras parade route (Endymion), just a few blocks from City Park which throws a ton of festivals throughout the year including Voodoo Fest, and less than a mile from the Fairgrounds which is home to Jazz Fest and other large events.brbrbrbrOur street is closed at both ends, so the only people that go through are other locals and guests who live on the street making it one of the safest and quietest streets in Mid-City.brbrbrbrGetting Around:brbrStreet parking is free and easy. There are plenty of spots immediately in front of the home and on all of the nearby streets, you won't have any issues finding a nearby spot.brbrbrbrWalking and biking is extremely easy and convenient. With dozens of bars and restaurants within just a few blocks you'll never have to drive anywhere. The beautiful City Park just a 5 minute walk away, and the Lafitte Greenway (a bike path going directly into the French Quarter) just one block away you can get anywhere in no time. brbrbrbrThere is also a New Orleans Blue Bike station about 2 blocks away, allowing you to rent electric-assist bikes at $0.15 / minute to get wherever you'd like to go. Uber and Lyft are also very easy and convenient from our location. It's about a 15-20 minute bike ride to get into the French Quarter, a 45 minute walk, or about a 10 minute drive.brbrbrbrOther Things to Note:brbrMARDI GRAS: The home is one block away from the parade route of the biggest Mardi Gras Parade in the city - Endymion. This is one of the most convenient homes you'll ever find to be able to experience the thrill of Mardi Gras like a true local without having to worry about getting around town or finding a bathroom (a common issue people have when they have to travel to get to the parade route). brbrbrbrJAZZ FEST: The home is about a mile away from Jazz Festival, making getting to and from the concerts extremely easy. Door to door it's about a 25 minute walk to get to the festival, or about a 7-8 minute bike ride if you want to grab one of the pay per minute blue bikes (blue bike station is located about 2 blocks from the house). If you decide to walk there are plenty of good bars and restaurants along the way so you can enjoy a drink while you stroll to the festivities. It's just far enough away from the festival to be able to enjoy peace and quiet while at home, but close enough to be able to avoid driving and the insane traffic without having to miss any of the music.brbrbrbrInteraction with Guests:brbrGuest satisfaction is our top priority. Please message us if you need anything or if you have any questions and a member of our team will be able to quickly get back to you ASAP. And if there is an emergency please give us a call.
