In 1948, Norman & Elsie Beadle closed a deal with the Hebert family on a small patch of land in the Hebert Summer Place subdivision south of Lake Charles, LA. They built a one-room camp named ItSuitsUs that withstood Hurricane Audrey (although it floated off the foundation blocks and swung around tethered by the power line) for fishing and duck hunting. In the 1980’s, the one room camp passed to my father & mother. Following the near destruction of the camp by Hurricane Rita in 2005, the camp was passed on to myself and my wife, Marci. We built the new camp up from a bare lot with our own hands and the help of family and anyone we could tempt out to the site with Marci’s home cooking and the adventure of continuing the legacy of ItSuitsUs.brbrIn 2007 Marci and I rechristened the camp ItSuitsUs II and opened it to our family and friends for a traditional Fourth of July celebration.
