Kingfisher Cottage Caernarfon-river rambling & relaxing, in a beautiful setting

Caernarfon, Caernarfon, United Kingdom

Kingfisher Cottage is situated within 120 beautifully landscaped acres of Glan Gwna Holiday Park, Caeathro, Caernarfon. There are 3 good sized bedrooms, a well fitted kitchen, tastefully decorated lounge, and bathroom. Wifi is free but guests are expected to pay for the electricity used. The cottage itself is set towards the rear of the quiet park at the end of a small terrace of brick built cottages, with decking that overlooks a bank of tress and bushes. The cottage is all electric. The layout downstairs is open plan. The downstairs bathroom has a shower over the bath. The cottage is made from Welsh stone and the heating is via electric radiators, so it can get cold in spring and autumn. Hot water is provided by an immersion tank which needs to heat up when it is switched on.brThe benefits of the cottage include a wall mounted TV, second TV in the master bedroom, as well as a microwave oven, fan oven, washing machine, over bath shower, large decking area, and outside tables and chairs for use on the large decking area. The decking is surrounded by a waist high wooden fence, but please be aware it gets slippy in wet weather, like all decking,brWe have our own WiFi that will be available for guests to use free of charge. Please remember though that the 4G signal can be affected by the surrounding mountains and any adverse weather conditions so downloading prior to your stay is recommended. brGlan Gwna offer free WiFi across the Holiday Park, but downloading or streaming are not available on that system. brWithin Glan Gwna Holiday Park, as well as the woodland and river, there is an outdoor pool, children’s play area, bar, restaurant (with a takeaway option), small shop and cafe/takeaway, coarse fishing lake (rod licence and daily permits needed), and a laundrette with coin operated washers and dryers. Some facilities including the pool are only available between the May half term and the first week in September. brYou will be able to access a range of outdoor pursuits nearby, visit local towns, villages, beaches, historic sites including castles, and family attractions. The cottage is about two miles from Caernarfon, with it's magnificent castle, harbour and many restaurants. Also nearby is Llanberis and Lake Padarn, with the opportunity for water sports. For adventurous climbers, Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon) is a short drive away. brPlease note that Kingfisher Cottage does not have traditional central heating but has a number of electric radiators that can be individually programmed. This does mean that the Cottage can feel cold in spring and autumn, despite being lovely and cosy for the rest of the year.brThere is a hot water immersion tank for heating water so it can run out if there are lots of showers one after the other but the tank quickly heats up again in about half an hour.brIt is good to have realistic expectations as this is not a luxurious holiday let and we are not a holiday business. This is our much-loved, comfortable second home, which we are happy to share with others and this is reflected in the relatively low nightly fee.brYou will have sole access to the Cottage but the pool and other areas are shared with other property owners and holiday makers.brThe electricity is on a pre-pay meter and guests are expected to abide by a fair usage scheme. This will involve checking the amount on the meter when you arrive and topping it up as needed. Please ensure you leave some credit on the meter for the next guests. If you use the last emergency credit you must top it up please. brAs this is a self catering rather than a serviced holiday let, you are expected to keep it clean please. The cottage is cleaned in preparation for your arrival, and we ask that you keep it as clean and tidy as possible during your stay, ensuring that it is left in a good state for our next guests. There are cleaning materials and equipment in the cupboard under the sink. These items are available for you to use.brWe do have some simple house rules to help you:-br· No smoking, parties or events please. br· Please remove outdoor shoes at the door. br· Please use your own equipment for your pets and use throws for the furniture if they are likely to jump up. Don’t feed them from the crockery. br. Empty bins before you leave.br· There is parking for 1 car at the cottage. Other cars can be parked in the car park by the reception building. Please respect the parking areas of the other cottages. br· There is an electric meter, which requires prepayment by a card which may be purchased from the onsite shop, reception area, bar or the Texaco garage at Bryn Peris, South Rd, Caernarfon LL55 2HP.br. We expect that guests will comply with a fair system by ensuring that there is some credit on the meter for the next guests who arrive.br· Please ensure you lock the cottage each time you leave, using the keys in the cottage. The key from the lock box must be left in the box during your stay.br · If you are asked to leave the Holiday Park because of anti-social behaviour, please do not ask us for a refund of your payment as this will not be given. brIndoor Dining - There is a table and chairs set in the lounge, which seats 4. There are two other small fold out tables.brOutside Dining - There are 2 tables for al fresco dining on the decked area. brDecked area - As with all decked areas, it can get slippy in the wet so please be careful.brIf you have dogs that use this area, please clean up after them immediately and rinse the deck with the hose pipe if necessary. The side gate is locked with a padlock and the key is in the kitchen too. brBarbecues - Everyone loves a good barbecue so we have a small charcoal barbecue for your use. It is vital that you don’t place anything hot (such as a disposable BBQ tray) on the decking or fence, as we will have to charge you for the cost of repairing any damage caused. br Fishing lake - If you have a licence and day pass from reception, you can fish at the Glan Gwna Lake. Reception will help you with this.brWoodland walk - Glan Gwna has a small wooded area to explore, with the river running through and an more open area where it forms a small lake.brDeparture - Please make sure you leave the cottage (in a clean and tidy state) on your last day by 10 o’clock.
