Twelve minutes from Priory Cottages (Wighill) and the same from Hornington Manor (Bolton Percy).brbrPlease note that The Carriage House is over 200 years old. It is not a modern building! We have retained as many original features as possible. Sound can travel between the apartments; we clearly state this and ask for 'quiet hours' in our house rules. If you are looking for accommodation that is a sound-proof box then this might not be for you. You might hear footsteps from above and/or below and possibly the sound of a tv. That said, the only noise you will hear externally is the sound of owls and foxes and possibly a tractor. There are no rowdy pub/club goers, very (very!) little traffic and no sirens or music. brbrThe Carriage House is made up of two separate apartments and two self-contained studios - all within the same building. Apartment One is on the ground floor, Apartment Two is on the first floor and Studios 3A and 3B are on the second floor. There is one door to the building and then separate doors into each apartment/studio. There is one communal stairway. There are seven bedrooms in total, three in Apartment One, two in Apartment Two, one in Studio 3A and one in Studio 3B. One of the bedrooms in Apartment One is a bunk bed room, more suitable for children, but every apartment has a double sofa bed or a pair of trundle beds. For getting together, guests booking The Carriage House have use of our Hygge Room which is the one in the photos with the donkey picture! This room can seat 14/18 people and is a few paces from the main door to The Carriage House. The use of this is included in the price you pay when you book The Carriage House but not if you book individual apartments. We also have some gardens which are about 50m from The Carriage House and are fully enclosed. These are also free to use. Seating. bbqs and gazebos can be provided on request. brbrApartment Two - two bedrooms (one with a king sized bed and one with twin beds). Two bathrooms. Downstairs cloakroom.brbrbrbrThe Space:brbrPiper Cottage sits on the site of the old stables and is named after Piper, one of our horses, who was born in June 2000 in what is now the kitchen of the cottage. The cottage is very light and airy but also very warm. The wood burning stove is a beautiful feature but not needed for warmth due to very efficient underfloor heating. The downstairs cloakroom means that additional guests using the sofa bed in the sitting room have their own facilities. The kitchen is fully fitted with an oven and hob, fridge freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. brbrbrbr Dogs are very welcome by prior arrangement (£20 charge per stay) and there are four public footpaths in the village so plenty of walks in open countryside to be enjoyed. brbrbrbrOnly 6 miles into central York and 10 mins by car from the Designer Outlet village. It is also available to guests of The Carriage House but is rarely busy. It is fully enclosed so safe for children and dogs but if you do let your dogs off the lead here please do clean up after them. There are sunny and shaded areas and seating and we can provide a gazebo on request.brbrbrbrIn the summer of 2020 we developed a new space which is available to hire for guests of Piper Cottage and The Carriage House. This is called the RAWS (Relaxation And Wellness Space) and has beautiful lawns, a fully-fitted kitchen, bathroom, yoga studio/party room, outside terrace, covered seating area, gas bbq, bar area and six-person ASPEN hot tub. We hold day and weekend yoga retreats here as well as wedding receptions, parties and Capoeira classes. Please note that the RAWS is only available on request and there is an additional cost - please ask for prices. If available, you can also book a session for exclusive use of the hot tub only. £10pp for a 90 minute session. Come up Main Street, Bilbrough (postcode YO23 3PH) and you will pass the village pub, The Three Hares, on your right hand side. You will then pass the church on your left hand side. At the T-Junction, turn right and you will see that there is a brick wall on your right hand side. When this wall ends, you will see the entrance on your right hand side. Turn in there and you will see a five barred wooden gate in front of you, that should be closed. Open it inwards, towards you, and turn left immediately you are through the gate. You will see Piper Cottage in front of you and you can park directly in front of it. Please be aware that others park in this yard to please park so that you do not obstruct any other vehicle.brbrbrbrThe Neighborhood:brbrNearest pubs are The Nag's Head in Askham Bryan ( six minute drive). and The White Swan in Wighill.
