With the bonus of modern conveniences such as economy 7 storage heating, superfast broadband and a 32” flat screen TV with FreeSat.brbrAccess to the cottage is via the front door into a good size reception room including a dining table that seats 4 and a real flame gas stove. Off to the left, up a couple of steps, is the living room with original, exposed beams and views looking down towards the village. The sofa also converts into a sofa bed for 2 people if required. To the right of the reception room is the kitchen which is compact but fully equipped. There is also a shower room with w.c. and basin.brbrThe bright and airy double bedroom is on the first floor, with large sash windows and neutral décor. The market town of Leyburn is easily accessed over a wonderful moorland drive called Grinton Moor. Leyburn has many amenities including pubs, cafes, giftshops, butchers and grocery stores. The Georgian town of Richmond is also within easy access, and only a 20-minute drive away with an ancient castle, historic Georgian theatre, a choice of cafes and several restaurants and takeaways.brbrDirectly from the door the area is full of footpaths and bridleways to explore either by foot or on bike. The Dales Bike Centre is also down the road and offers bike hire and guided rides should you wish to explore the very best of the local trails. This gorgeous Old Victorian Railway Station has been given a new lease of life with a mix of artisan shops, a cinema, an art gallery and a café bar. You can sample beer brewed in house from Richmond Brewing company. There is a great river walk to Easby Abbey which is a free site to visit from English Heritage. Another beautiful walking area is Richmond Falls which is just down the hill from the marketplace. The bedrooms consist of a double and twin, along with a bathroom. WiFi, fuel, power, bed linen, and towels are included in the rent. Outside, there is an enclosed wraparound decking with furniture and hot tub, plus off-road parking for two cars. One well-behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 1.8 miles, pub 1.6 miles, river 0.5 miles. Return year after year to Dragonfly. Note: Although it is single-storey, there are steps up to the property. Note: No stag/ hen parties or similar. Note: Please be aware the site rules for the lodge operate a strict quiet time between the hours of 10pm-8am, the hot tub is not permitted to be used within this period. The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book, 1086, as being in the hundred of Land of Count Alan and retains parts of its history with its handful of quaint churches. Visitors can enjoy playing a game of putty at Catterick Golf Limited and stretching their legs on the village's vast playing fields. Hipswell is served by multiple amenities, including: schools, supermarkets, convenience stores and eateries, meaning visitors won't have to travel far for the things they need during their stay. The village also boasts ample access to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, being in Swaledale itself, with the 268 miles-long Pennine Way trail to walk, the glorious limestone formation of Malham Cove to explore and the striking ruins of Bolton Priory to marvel at. Hipswell is less than two miles south of Richmond, history fans will be especially pleased with this, as the town is home to The Green Howards Museum, Easby Abbey and the Richmondshire Museum; Richmond is additionally home to The Station, a superb spot for evening entertainment, comprising of a cinema, gallery and restaurant.
