Welcome to this light, bright, spacious home, perfect for families and groups. Built in 1869 and updated with a light-filled sunroom with woodburning stove, large playroom stocked with toys, and a huge primary suite and bath. With over 3,800 square feet, it has 4 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms, 2 with tubs. Plenty of space for groups to gather, and also for someone to find a quiet spot to retreat. 1 hour from NYC, close to downtown Stamford, and Greenwich CT shops and beaches.brbrCHECK IN TIME: 4 PMbrCHECK OUT TIME: 10 AMbrbrThe huge backyard provides a lovely view with a towering oak tree and a rolling lawn. At the far end of the yard is a pond and stone patio. In the spring and summer there are frogs in the pond, and the occasional turtle. brbrThe playroom is large, sunny, and stocked with toys that kids are welcome to play with. Our outdoor swingset / playset accommodates small children - best for children 10 and under. brbrWe have a binder in the house that is full of detailed info about the house, wireless access, garbage pickup, the area, shopping, activities, restaurants, recreation, etc. We are very easy to contact via text or phone with any questions at all you have during your stay -- no matter how small. brbrThe neighborhood is bucolic and rural. There's a horse farm nearby, down a winding road. The forested Mianus River Park, with its lovely hiking trails that run alongside the river, is a 3-minute drive from the house, great for jogging, hiking, mountain-biking or walking the dogs (or kids!). The house has easy access to the Merritt parkway (Route 15) so getting into NYC or to nearby Greenwich, CT is easy. Shopping on trendy Greenwich Ave. (Saks, Tiffany, J. Crew, etc.) is 15-20 minutes away. Stamford train station is about 15-20 minutes from the house, and has many trains running into New York's Grand Central station, a 1-hour train ride away.brbrThe house has central air conditioning and heat.brbrIf you decide to book, know that we are thrilled to have you stay. :) Our goal is to treat our guests as though they are our friends, and we love to host guests who feel the same way. Before we begin, please note my family and I live here and parties/smoking are strictly forbidden. Now sit back and enjoy the lower level of our charming Georgian home just outside downtown Stamford. We are on the Stamford/Greenwich border which is only a 5 minute drive to not only downtown Stamford but also the Metro-North train with easy access to NYCbrbrYour area includes 2 bedrooms with comfortable queen beds, your own private bathroom and exclusive access to a full gym and 8 person home theater. One of the bedrooms includes 60 inch tv with access to Netflix while the home theater is connected to Netflix as well. The home theater includes a 110 inch projection along with leather reclining chairs and we have added additional seating to create a more intimate, comfortable living space for our guests. Please note that the separate entrance does include a flight of approximately 8 stairs down in order to enter the premises.brbrThe small bathroom has a large walk-in shower which also doubles as a steam shower.brbrWe offer other amenities as well which include a coffee maker, microwave, toaster, large and small fridge which we set up in the home theater but no oven. We do not have a kitchen in the basement however we start you off with some staples (coffee, soda), and you bring the rest. It's important to note that our neighborhood has a suburban feel and there are no grocery stores, cafes, coffee shops, delis, restaurants, or bars within easy walking distance of the house. Downtown Stamford and other businesses are a quick 5 min drive (~$5 Uber) from our house.brbrWe are located on an approx. 1 acre lot relatively flat grade which includes a separate private entrance to your living space. The lot and neighborhood are great for dog walking. You're also welcome to hang out in the backyard, which we also use, which includes a terrace and 8 person picnic table along with a gazebo.brbrWe are pet friendly and we do have a dog. You won't have to interact with her (she is, however, very outgoing and loves attention). She is never allowed on your floor.brbrWe are a quiet, friendly couple who are happy to share our house. We're eager to provide as much information as we can to help make your stay enjoyable. Please always feel free to ask us about anything and be sure to let us know about anything we've overlooked or run out of.brbrWe're pretty busy during the week, but when we're not, we love to stop and chat with guests who have time and inclination.
