He set sail on his maritime adventures as a cabin boy on a whaling voyage, after which he forged a distinguished career as an officer, working on the steamships that ferried passengers from Liverpool, England, to New York and Galveston.brbrCapt. Burrows' home dates back to circa 1810 and is brimming with nautical character and New England charm. Please use the antique dishes! :-)brbrIf you need a quiet moment or want to catch up with the office during your stay, you’ll find the Captain’s Quarters the perfect space. With a work desk, daybed, and an oversized sofa chair that pulls out into a twin sleeper, we have you covered for work, a reading nook, or a first-floor sleeping space.brbrSLEEPING ARRANGEMENTSbrbrAfter a full day exploring Mystic, you’ll appreciate our three deliciously comfortable bedrooms. One bedroom plus a pull-out twin sleeper and a daybed on the first floor is ideal for guests who have difficulty with stairs or parents sharing with toddlers.brbrAll bedrooms feature comfy mattresses, fresh pillows, beautiful linens, alarm clocks, USB charger ports on each bedside, plenty of soft fluffy towels, and complimentary toiletries so you can pack lighter. brbrFirst floor: Full-size bedroom sleeps 2brFirst floor: Office with daybed and oversized sofa chair which pulls out as twin sleeperbrbrSecond floor: Queen size bedroom sleeps 2brSecond floor: 2 Twins bedroom sleeps 2brbrNOTE:brThe Burrows Home can sleep 5- 6 guests most comfortably. Number 6 and 7 would sleep on the 1st floor in the "Captain's Quarters" room on the twin day bed and pullout twin sleeper chair. The Captain's quarters also can function as an office with a daybed for resting and reading.brbrThe first floor has a 1/2 bath and would require guests who sleep in the full-size bedroom or the Captain's Quarters to climb stairs to the 2nd floor to shower.brbrOUTDOORSbrbrStaying with us during the Spring or Summer months? You’ll appreciate our postcard-perfect view of the picturesque cove across the way. And the fully fenced, pretty backyard with a shady patio area, firepit, and outdoor gas grill.brbrFAMILY & DOGSbrbrAt Captain Burrows Home, we love to welcome children and furry family members. For little guests, we have a high chair, pack-n-play, and baby tub, as well as plenty of board games, books, and toys to keep younger guests (and older guests:) occupied.brbrWe welcome 2 well-behaved dogs of small to medium size. Please check out our house rules at the end of the description and confirm dog guests when you book.brbrOur fee is $50/pet.brbrVERIFICATION/SECURITY DEPOSITbrbrGuest ID Verification:brWe are committed to protecting our guests, properties, and ourselves which is why we’ve partnered with Know Your Guest, SUPERHOG, the leading vacation rental-guest screening provider. After you book, you will receive a Know Your Guest email or text message from SUPERHOG. Kindly complete the guest screening once you receive the email or text message~ it should take about 5 minutes and is easiest done from your mobile device. (You’ll be asked to provide your name, date of birth, address, contact details, and picture of you and your driver’s license~ nothing more.)brbrDamage Deposit or Damage Waiver:brYou’ll be given the choice between a refundable $500 security deposit, less a $15 processing fee charged to your credit card two weeks prior to arrival~ or purchasing a non-refundable $35 damage waiver, which will cover any incidental damages up to $500. Today, Mystic is known for its quintessential New England charm and is famous for being the only maritime museum of its kind. People come in droves today to visit the Mystic Seaport Museum, Mystic Aquarium, and other attractions, annual festivals, and events, as well as to dine in the countless fabulous restaurants and bars. It's become quite a hub for dining out! brbrCharles W. The 1807 Williams Home rooms are named after maritime trades. The museum is home to five National Historic Landmark vessels: Charles W. Morgan- last whaling ship, Sabino Coal Steamer- last in regular operation in the U.S., L.A. Dunton, Joseph Conrad, and the Emma C. Berry. Our property next door to the 1807 Williams Home & Smith Cottage, the 1784 Denison Home, offers 5 guest rooms, all named in honor of these five vessels at the Mystic Seaport. The Carriage House, our newest offering behind the Denison Home in Old Mystic, has rooms themed after historic people of the time. brbrAlso, Mystic is home to Clyde's Cider Mill, the oldest steam-powered cider mill in the country. This special mill draws crowds in the fall to see the steam engine in action. brbrThere's just something special about Mystic~ it's a one-of-a-kind place!brbrLARGER GROUPS?brbrIn addition to Captain Burrows' home, we also have three other Mystic vacation homes located in Old Mystic, near the head of the Mystic River. brbrWe can accommodate up to 45 guests in the four properties for reunions, anniversaries, and special occasions. Message us if you have questions about booking our other properties to check on availability and pricing for your group.brbrPET GUIDELINES:brbrPet Fee $50.00 per pet ONLY DOGS allowed- no cats or other pets.br2 small/medium dog limit brPets are allowed with the following understanding: br1. Dogs are 100% house-trained. Traveling dogs can get anxious and confused, causing accidents even for a house-trained dog.br ***If your dog pees inside, this will cause a great deal of confusion for future dogs staying at the Williams Home & Smith Cottage as they may pee on top of your dog's pee, causing an upset for everyone. When arriving, please immediately introduce the yard to your dog to establish where the potty is located.*** br2. Pets are well-behaved and good-natured. br3. Pets are not left alone for more than a few hours. br4. Pets are crated or quarantined, so they don't roam freely throughout the property when left alone. 5. Owners clean up outside after their pets br6. Owners keep their pets on a leash when appropriate, as Mystic is busy. br7.
