Its historic streets contain 15th and 16th Century half-timbered houses as well as Renaissance residences, Romanesque and Gothic churches and ancient chapels and convents.brbrThe view from the Jardin Anglais is quite breathtaking, looking down on the ancient port and the magnificent viaduct which spans the River Rance.brbrA strenuous but rewarding walk is from the town to the port via the steep Rue du Petit Fort, one of the oldest streets in Dinan.brbrThe town has over 35 eateries ranging from no frills bars to traditional creperies to cordon bleu restaurants.brbrEach Thursday there is a large market for fresh vegetables, cheese, bread and all sorts of other gastronomic delights.brbrNorthern Brittany: Dinan lies 20 kilometers due south of the spectacular northern Brittany coastline. There are many beautiful beaches and resorts to explore including the historic fortified port of St Malo which is 35 minutes drive and the lovely seaside town of Dinard only 30 minutes away.brbrThe capital city of Brittany is Rennes which is 50 minutes drive to the south, and well worth a day visit.brbrInland Brittany is steeped in history and there are many fascinating places to visit including the fortress town of Fougeres and the towns and villages that skirt the River Rance.
