Villa with private pool, large garden and stunning sea view

We had a great week here. The location is superb, with amazing views from a private terrace. The pool is clean and we used it every day. The house is well-equipped, and large, though could do with a refresh/refurbishment. Yes, the weather means some things are damp, particularly downstairs- I wouldn’t recommend 5-6 people staying here - and we had 2 heavy rainfalls which brought out cockroaches. But we loved the outside space, the quiet, the views, and visits from neighbourhood cats. If you like hiking all day and coming back to a view of a sunset over the ocean - and aren’t bothered by insects - this place is great.

A wonderful cozy place to be.We enjoyed our stay deeply. You could feel the very individual and delicate equiped interior. Simply, but tasteful.Thank you to make a hidden paradise with that house possible for us to visit.

Plain and simple: the view is breathtaking.But you have to work for it. As has been said before, you park your car at the church, walk a few hundred meters down a small road and the take 61 steps to the entrance to the garden. I don't mind such a little workout. What I care more about is my food, and that needs to be protected from tiny ants. We first found them in a lovely Bouquet of flowers which greeted us in the kitchen upon arrival. Lovely idea, not so lovely insects included. In the following days we put all food, including bread, into the fridge. We did not expect the ants to get there as well. But they did, and even found a way into a closed plastic bag full of cookies we had bought at the farmers market in Prazeres. Tiny hungry beasts ;)Apart from that, I would agree with those who describe the house as a little worn out. After all the oven seems to be as brandnew as the stainless steel pan. Still: a view to die for.

The view right on the sunset and the calm around the house (except some dogs) were breathtaking!

We had a fantastic stay with Maria. The rustic property was in a cute, quiet, and private location with an amazing view of the ocean. Easy parking was available below the church, which was a 5-minute walk away from the property. The garden and view were highlights of the property that we will always remember. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the place to anyone wanting to visit Madeira.

If you are looking for a secluded breathtaking location with a cozy, rustic but functional lodging - this house is for you. Sure there are some insects, and the house is not brand new but it all adds to the charm. And I promise you - you won't find any better view for your swims, dinners and birdwatching. The host was super helpful!

Jan's house is just beautiful and charming. The terrace offers great views and it was a luxury to have a pool (although we didn't use it often). The house is spacious and well equipped. We found all the necessary kitchen utensils. Yes, you hear if someone is moving around upstairs but that was part of the charme. And apart from that you don't hear any traffic noise. We can only recommend Jan's place and hope to come back some time!
