Villa Luz: between Serra and the Sea - Free Wifi

Very nice stay. Fun drive to the house. The mornings we sat enjoying the beautiful views.

We spent a wonderful 5 nights at Casa Luz. It is a beautiful home with everything needed for an amazing holiday. The indoor and outdoor spaces are lovely with spectacular views of the garden and valley. Marta and Jose are very attentive, lovely hosts, checking in and out was super convenient. It is conveniently located to many sites and attractions.The ride up the hill is exciting so an automatic car is recommended.

I cannot emphasise what an AMAZING time we had in Madeira at Villa Luz. The views from the villa were breathtaking….the villa was huge and impeccably clean. Marte and Jose were the best hosts we could gave hoped for. Marte speaks fluent English and Jose speaks very well too (much better than my Portuguese!) Jose met us at our car hire place so we could follow him to the villa for the first time, thank you Jose (you do need a car for this villa if you plan to explore). Marte and Jose also took us to the supermarket for our first shop, just what we needed. Marte gave us lots of tips and advice for our stay, nothing was too much trouble. I won’t lie, the hills are steep in places (all over the island if go away from the coast) and a bit scary at first but you get used to it and there is very little traffic on the roads in this area so you can take your time. This villa is ideal if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Funchal and want a perfect base to explore this beautiful island. I would not hesitate to recommend Villa Luz and we will be back asap….can’t wait!

A lovely, spotlessly clean property. Martha was very helpful with any information we asked of her as well as providing suggestions. Lovely views of both the mountains and sea. Would recommend.

We were met by the owner Marta who very kindly walked us thru' the accomodation and explained the in's & out's for us. The property was lovely and very spacious for 2 and could very easily take more. Every thing was very clean and the kitchen well stocked. Marta kept in contact to make sure we were ok and even suggested some trips. If we return to Madeira, we will certainly try to re-book this property. Marta even came to see us off on the last morning. Highly, highly recommended accomodation.

Nothing can really prepare you for how breathtaking the views are from Villa Luz. The altitude is disorienting whether you're looking at the vast open ocean to the south or the deep valley to the west with terraced farms and gorgeous homes. We hiked the levada which is adjacent to the property for about two miles, mostly level. Good restaurants are 8 minutes away, either down in Santa Cruz or, our preference, Santo da Serra. The interior of the home is large and very comfortable. Marta and Jose were perfect hosts, full of good information, and nearby in case we had any needs. When I return to Madeira I'm staying here again.

Marta and Jose are very generous hosts . The villa has such amazing views and facilities that we would throughly recommend it. Marta so kindly came tothe airport to show us the way to the villa which helped us very much overcome our anxiety about driving the hills of Madeira. We loved the amazing views, luxuries of the villa and the fresh mountain air. The fruits from their organic farm which is close by were so flavoursome we brought some back home. Marta also helped us with booking our return covid test close by. Without a doubt Madeira and Villa Luz is the best place to holiday during these covid times.

Have to say start out by saying what great host Jose and Marta were. Great communication through the entire process. This was a trip 2 years in the making and they were instrumental in making sure it went of without a hitch. The trip was an effort to come to the home of our grandparents to see were they were born and raised. They offered to come and pick us up at the airport for no charge, Jose was gracious enough to take us to the grocery store upon our arrival and wait for us. House was immaculate and very well kept. Surrounding area was quite and soothing. Access to transportation was plentiful and simple to arrange. There were five people in our group and still had plenty of room at the house. If your going to stay for any length of time, renting a car might be a good option. Marta was very accessible and informative about the area. She was also a godsend when it came to assisting with our exit COVID test. We were having issues basically due to the language difference and she was willing to contact them on our behalf and help us in getting it scheduled.
