Villa Estia in the heart of Crete

Great location and great host

Before arrival the owner made sure that we had all necessary information. We were welcomed with tasty food. All was very clean and well equipped. The owners came every day to check the pool or do some work, very friendly and discreet. Several times we got samples of the traditional cuisine. We were allowed to take from the fruit trees in the garden. Almost every morning we had breakfast at the veranda. You can choose which one on each side of the house. Having sun during the meal or for drying clothes or relaxing. A rural location which is a good basis for trips in the districts Rethimno and parts of Chania and Heraclion. There is plenty to see and do or you only ride on small ways through the mountains and along the coasts. We enjoyed it very much.

We were 2 adults an 1 11 years old kid. The house was amazing. Clean, with a lot of shade and well equipped. The swimming pool great. Exceeded our expectation. It was in a quiet area away from the tourist area but well situated to go to visit the island. The Kautelidakis family made the difference. After a day of driving around you find fresh fruit and here they are Maria, Elia and Nikos sharing their kindness and always taking care that everything is OK. We will go back for sure.!.

First time in Crete and certainly not the last one! The welcome was warm and friendly, the owners very helpful and hospitable. The location is close to shops and mini markets, large garden full of trees , flowers and local herbs. It is quiet and ideal for those who wish to stay away from the centre of the town. We had a great time. The kids loved the pool. You are surrounded by olive trees and there's plenty of shade when it's too hot. The houses are separated from each other by the trees so quite private. It is spacious, in the middle of the countryside but only 15 minutes drive from Rethymon center and 10 for the beach. The hosts are adorable. Definitely recommend!

To be recommended most enthusiastically and with no hesitation whatsoever!! Nobody could possibly be anything but delighted with the villa, the property, and the hospitality of the wonderful hosts!! The pictures online do not do the place justice at all - it is totally modern, well-lit, and VERY spacious. We rented a villa for one week as a family (two adults, one grown-up child) and were absolutely thrilled. We have travelled extensively and are very particular, but this accommodation is SPOTLESSLY CLEAN, gorgeous, and very convenient. ALL the appliances, etc. work perfectly (the shower leaves a flood, but this is common all over Greece), the pool is always immaculate, the beds are terrifically comfortable, and there is tons of closet space provided. The kitchen is well-stocked with pans, etc. and you can do proper cooking if you wish. The AC also works perfectly and there are units in every room. Even though we were there in mid-summer, there is a lovely breeze and we never had to use the AC overnight. I can't praise this accommodation enough - the family who runs it is absolutely lovely and I wish them the very best.

July 2012- I have just arrived back with my wife and 2 daughters aged 7 and 4 from Villa Estia. From the moment we arrived Nicos and Maria made us feel very welcome. The villa and grounds were immaculately clean. We were greeted with a lovely traditional Cretan meal which was a real surprise and treat. This allowed us to relax, unpack and settle into our holiday surroundings. Our children enjoyed the use of the pool which we often had to ourselves. We also enjoyed a lovely evening BBQ cooked by Nicos and Maria. The villa is very well located to local beaches and Rethymnon town which is only 10 kms away. We would highly recommend this villa if you are after a peaceful relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings.
