Secluded cottage with pool in spectacular and tranquil Alentejo countryside.

What a wonderful property - peaceful, secluded with gorgeous views. The pool is really nice and the (long) terrace immediately outside the house is in shade the whole day, with a large table and chairs and sofa seating.The grill area was well used and it was lovely to watch the sun going down before the stars came out.The inside is very well arranged with everything you could need and plenty of space for everyone. What a thoughtfully designed place this is (and very clean and without any chintz!). Shutters, double-glazing and insect doors on every opening meant we could keep the place cool (and silent) and we didn’t have one fly inside the whole time!We loved the surrounding area - seemingly off the tourist trail yet a 30 minute drive from the busier coast.Lovely owners who met us and were on hand if necessary but absolutely unobtrusive (they live in a nearby property).Just perfect!

Stay was perfect, due to swimmingpool it is very relaxing stay.There is room enough for 2 couples both have there own bed and bathroom.It is remote, quiet, and a good place for watching the stars at night.We will book this again in the future.

This accommodation is absolutely everything it is advertised to be and more. The setting is more beautiful and tranquil than words can describe. The owners are lovely people who made our stay exceptional and encouraged communication with them to ensure our time there was as comfortable and easy as possible. The villa is lovely and very well appointed, the pictures do not do justice as to how lovely the villa is. Everything was spotlessly clean, the kitchen very well equipped, and very thoughtful gestures in terms of what is in the villa for guests use. We made good use of the good sized pool. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this lovely villa, the tranquil setting was so very relaxing with only the sound of the sheep and their bells. Sue and Paddy were very welcoming, available but not at all intrusive. Thank you both, we had a wonderful relaxing time.

What a privilege and delight to start my 55th road cycling season as a Canadian in Europe. In 26 European vacations for multi week independent cycling vacations the Star of the Hills…..Sue and Patrick’s remarkable rural Sao Domingos villa was an outstanding 5 star experience…true to the name of the home. Situated 2 km south of Sao Domingos on 40 acres of classic Alentejo scenery you will be treated to a very high standard home, incredibly spacious with spectacular views. Fit and finish of the home, amenities, phenomenal level of communication and care make this a rarity in the Iberian Peninsula. It would be in the top 5% of the 150+ bookings I have done over the 25 years in Europe vacations to support our cycling forays. Proximity to delightful rural museums in Sao Domingos and Abela, significant Roman ruins in Santiago do Cacem and phenomenal natural beaches at Almograve make this a most compelling property. The high standards and care are evident the minute you engage with Sue and Patrick. Far from the tourist hordes of the Algarve or the supposed must see “attractions” of Lisboa and Porto lies what arguably is the heart and soul of Portugal……Alentejo. Many Portuguese folks would agree. The Alentejo has it all and Estrela do Cerro…the star of the hills exemplifies what we love about independent self planned travel in Europe.

The house is in a lovely setting and is well designed to make the most of the view. It is well equipped with lots of storage. The owners were very friendly & responsive, and provided a lovely welcome pack. My son loved swimming (particulary at night) and my husband borrowed a bike to explore the cycling trails. There are some beautiful beaches within a 30 minute drive and some lovely restaurants in the area. All very relaxing!

We were at Estrela do Cerro for 3 weeks. The house is absolutely very luxury and comfortable with everything you need available. The owners treated us very friendly with respect for our privacy. When there was a small problem we could always contact them and they tried to help us. The view from the house is absolutely magnificent. We loved it so much! The place is also very peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed the swimmingpool and really felt at home. Thank you, Sue and Patrick for such a nice holiday.
