Stayed Dec 28, 2025The property has a nice location and pool, but our stay had several issues. Some amenities listed on Vrbo were not available or not as described, including a broken BBQ grill, towel limitations, and ongoing air-conditioning problems that was freezing and melting. Communication was inconsistent, and there was confusion regarding guest count despite the booking being clear. Most concerning was host behavior on January 1st, which made our family uncomfortable, particularly with children present. Pool access times were enforced inconsistently, and late-night yelling and aggressive behavior disrupted our stay. Overall, the experience did not match expectations based on the listing.

Stayed Feb 14, 2019Casa Loma is on a high hillside that faces Flamingo Beach. The view is beautiful. The ocean breeze sweeps up the mountainside so that in the hottest temperature, you are still cool. There are several, beautifully kept pools near each villa. People come out to talk and swim and drink. Many are Canadians, and they are friendly, peaceful, and knowledgeable people. The owners are also Canadians, and they will do anything to make your stay pleasant. For example, our toilet was running (nothing serious). A valve was sticking. The owner and his assistant drove to the town and got a replacement part. It was fixed in an hour. At home, this would have perhaps taken me a day as a first-time experience. They have ~30 years experience, and know each piece of equipment and any replacement or repair imminently. The beach, roughly at the foot of the hillside, is among the best in +- 30km, so I don't advise touring around to find the next beach. You have to drive a long ways over bad roads to reach a beach that is only a few miles away. Often the roads approaching a particular beach are unmarked. If you have a map, it makes no substantial difference, b/c the roads themselves are not marked with signs, even though the maps themselves are quite detailed. Perhaps, as a tourist, you should carry a compass, and mark your position using side roads and direction so you can guess where you are.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our Villa was amazing! We had the best of both worlds - waking up with a view of Flamingo Beach from our bedroom to eating breakfast at our pass through window/ bar near the pool! We were able to prepare a great breakfast and start our day to go the nearby beaches. We arrived back in the evening to watch the spectacular sunsets with a cold beer! Tom and Igor were more than accommodating to make sure our stay was the best! They arranged for us to go horseback riding on the beach. They made numerous suggestions of what to see! We will definitely be back and want the same villa!!!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We very much enjoyed our month long stay in January 2014 at Villas Casa Loma. We arrived late evening after a long delayed flight and found Tom and Igor waiting for us in the beautiful garden by the pool. They proved to be welcoming and helpful hosts. Our accommodation was clean and comfortable. There were a number of other retired guests who have been coming there for several years. They obviously enjoyed the friendships they had formed and the quiet relaxation that Tom and Igor encourage. The villas are very well situated, especially if you have a car. After the first week we were well rested and ready to enjoy the beautiful beaches, restaurants, and excursions to nearby towns and other attractions. We took a river boat cruise to see more of the exotic flora and fauna, a sunset catamaran cruise and a memorable weekend side trip to the Arenal volcano area where we zip lined in the rain forest and enjoyed the hot springs at Tabacon. Thank you Tom and Igor for your hospitality!
