Very good,
It was a disastrous experience. 1. Host accepted multiple reservations and cancelling our reservation after the legal rental agreement period started. 2. Host acted innocent and blaming VRBO for overbooking. He accepted one booking from another hosting site on June 30th and not sure why accepted our booking request on July 31st. We booked this property despite knowing that there is no cancellation refund but never knew owner could cancel even after the rental period started. We were deceived by host. 3. He did not tell us that we don't have property until after the check-in period started on Aug 13th at 4.30p (despite I called at 1p before our trip begins just to confirm where the key is for entering the property) 4. 27 people including very young kids were on road with a shock that we don't have property. We never rented properties using these methods. 5. Lots of money spent for trip preparation, day off from work, efforts to reach to final destination and our dream to spend vacation ended up as a disaster for host's fault. 6. Host claimed innocent for overbooking and offered his other places and they are a mosque and a property that was in construction to stay for his fault. How can anyone stay in such places? He wanted to be free of fault by giving something that is not even allowed in first place to stay.
Very good rental home. We were a group of 25 people, families with children across all age groups. Very easy to communicate with the property owner. Clean, well maintained and not very far off from Walmart, shopping. There are a lot of bedrooms and bathrooms that there was never a shortage of space for any of us. Overall very happy about the experience!
The property was located in a nice tucked away area. It was about a 20-30 minute drive to Gettysburg and to the battlefield. There is a fire pit outside and it was a great time to spend there with family. A few negatives that brought down our stay a bit. Some of the towels were dirty. When I say dirty, I mean it looks like they were used to clean up a mess on the floor and then put back into the food pantry which is where we found them. The counter tops and stove needed to be wiped down when we arrived, which we did right away. There were 5 keys in the kitchen, none of which were to the house. There was only one house key and it was connected to a 3 lb piece of wood, making it hard and inconvenient to bring along with us. The owner was good about communicating, and I will say as a family of 20 we had a lot of questions (is there soap, garbage bags, etc). There were not trash bags, so its a good thing we did bring them. There were no filters for the coffee maker, which for 20 people is not great. Especially when the grocery store is at least 15 min away. There was some broken glass on the porch too, which we had to move because we had children with us. Overall for me, its not easy to find a place for a family of our size to be together. This worked well for that and was about what we would have spent on hotels. If you want to stay here, you should expect more of an outdated church retreat style facility and you will be very happy.
The property didnt have a washer/dryer and proper telivision. For a group of 27 people, it lacks even these basic necessities. The door handles were not hinged. Some of the doors in the back were not in proper shape.
