Katerina's Penthouse is a delightful place to slow down and enjoy nature. The terrace is perfect for having tea while listening to the gentle surf on the beach below, boat spotting, and losing track of time. Although the penthouse is located within minutes of a major highway and a busy port, the property itself is sheltered and very quiet. The beach is a short and easy 5-minute walk from the garden. We visited in mid April and found the water plenty warm for swimming. Inside the penthouse the rooms are spacious and well-lit, clean and tidy, yet cozy feeling with the rich wood and stone textures, traditional furniture and many soft places to land for reading a book. The garden is masterfully planted with kitchen herbs, well-tended old wisteria vines, roses, annuals, and olive and fruit trees in the groves beyond the garden. Inside and out it is obvious that Anna and Costas, the owners, have cared for the house and property with passion.Anna greeted us on our first morning with a breakfast tray including fresh eggs from her chickens and olive oil and candied grapefruit from the garden, then a basket of fresh lemons, oranges and pink grapefruit from the garden grove - juicy perfection! Over the course of our stay she and two granddaughters appeared each day to deliver homemade delicious dishes. We have never before been treated with such generous hospitality and are very grateful to Anna and her family for making us feel very much at home. Thank you!

If this property is available and you want an authentic experience that feels like a home away from home then stay here. The family is amazing and even cooked us some traditional Greek food and had some treats and a bottle of wine for us on arrival. There is also a beach right on your doorstep that all the locals go to. I can’t fault this place and we were surprised it was available to book a month out. We looked at a lot of different places before booking this and wanted to stay somewhere without the crowds of tourists. Book this place, it is worth every penny. You won’t regret it! Thanks again to the hosts. I’ll recommend this place to everyone coming to Crete.

I picked this place for the view and it did not disappoint. It was very convenient to the national highway and small towns. Loved the owners! They were very welcoming and brought goodies to us several times. Lots of space and very beautiful private beach nearby. Would recommend.

This was our first trip to Crete and we were so lucky to stay in this beautiful place! To have coffee every morning pin the terrace overlooking to blue sea was perfect! We could walk down the path under the grape arbor to a quiet, perfect beach for a swim. Our hosts were very friendly and Anna’s gifts of delicious Cretan food from her kitchen and her garden were an expected delight!!! We will definitely return when we can.!!!
