Boasting springtime temperatures during the winter and cool summers freshened by a breeze blowing in from the Atlantic, Costa de Lisboa, on the southwestern coast, offers a rich and impressively integrated diversity. The capital of Portugal since its conquest from the Moors in 1147, Lisbon is a legendary city with over 20 centuries of History. The Alfama is one of the oldest quarters in Lisboa. Since it largely survived the earthquake of 1755, the area still retains much of its original layout. Adjacent to the Alfama are the likewise old quarters of Castelo and Mouraria, on the western and northern slopes of the hill that is crowned by St. George's Castle. Every year in June, the streets of all three quarters come alive with the feasts in honour of the popular saints. The Graça quarter and the churches of São Vicente de Fora and Santa Engrácia are within walking distance of this area. Radiant skies brighten the monumental city, with its typical tile covered building facades and narrow Medieval streets, where one can hear the fado being played and sung at night. But Lisbon is also the stage for popular festivities, the place for exquisite shopping, exciting nightlife, and interesting museums, a place from where motorways branch off in different directions. Casa branca is situated in sesimbra only a mere 40 km away from lisbon. a picturesque small fishing town, with a medieval castle. Like a sentry the ruins of this 13th Century castle built by Sancho II protectively overlooks the village. Whilst here, do not miss the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora in Cabo Espichel (which was constructed at the turn of the 17th Century as a sanctuary and has often been used as a location for filming due to its singular architectural design) and Lagoa de Albufeira, a favourite spot for wind surfers.

Spacious, fabulous views on many levels, we were happy to spend many hours in the villa. It is such a one off villa - from the quirky layout maximising its position, to the roof terrace where you can eat and watch the sunset over the castle. The position on the cliff meant that we got great breezes when it was hot and was relatively easy to regulate the temperature (though we were lucky and the temperatures didn't go much above 30C while we were there.) The pool was lovely and the hosts helpful and friendly. All of us loved staying there. We did find the access off the main road initially difficult as it involves almost a U turn on a blind bend (coming from Lisbon on the Sesimbra Nascente route) - really only safe coming up from the village below, but this was a small price to pay for the location. We loved Sesimbra itself - great to wander round, good food, and not too touristy. The castle was free and fun to walk round, and plenty to explore in the area. We had a day in Lisbon too - not too far to go. Getting a Navigante card was a slight challenge - but once got, easy to get around. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely stunning property with views to die for! Ingrid and Nupes were brilliant to deal with right from when we booked and we couldn’t have wished for better hosts throughout our stay.

The house was large. The view was beautiful! The beds were extremely uncomfortable! There were many steep steps to get to the house and then again to get to the floor with the kitchen. It did make it difficult to bring up several groceries. There was only 1 or 2 rolls of toilet paper per restroom, we were expected to purchase our own. We also had to purchase trash bags for the kitchen trash can. It was advertised to have a hot tub but it did not. It was also advertised to have a heated pool, it was not. We were told upon arrival that if we wanted the pool heated we would have requested it to be turned on prior to our arrival but we were not told that prior to our arrival because it takes 3 days to heat. We were not notified of that prior to our arrival. However, we did request it to be turned on our first day and we were told it would be the next day. We were there for 5 days and the pool was never heated. The owners were there and present our entire stay. There was also a young and rambunctious puppy that resided there that ran around our yard space, ran into the house and even would run out into the street and jumped into our vehicle.it was left to us to put the dog back behind the fence. There was also a cat that had run of the property, she was gentle and friendly but she also often entered the house and one of our family members is allergic.
