Delphi is famous as the ancient sanctuary that grew rich as the seat of the oracle that was consulted on important decisions throughout the ancient classical world. Kalavryta is a small but beautiful town that attracts most tourists due to the ski center and its historical past. Very interesting sightseeing spots in Kalavryta are the Monastery of Mega Spileo and the historical Monastery of Agia Lavra, where the Greek Revolution of 1821 was declared. What is more you can take the Cog Train of Kalavryta that covers a distance of about 22km between Kalavryta and Diakofto in an hour. It is said that this is one of the most beautiful trips in the world as the train passes through some rare natural sceneries.
