Stayed Sep 24, 2019Our second visit as we also stayed at Villa Edera 14 years ago. Loved it as much the second time as the first and the addition of the pool was a wonderful bonus. It is huge! Architecturally lovely with beautiful grounds with trees, flowers and green lawns. Very comfortable living room and sitting room, big dining room and table that easily accommodated our multi generational group of 7. Great location as it was easy to get to Taormina, Catania and Syracuse plus other smaller villages. We thoroughly enjoyed our time . A memorable stay. Many thanks to our gracious host, Paul.

Stayed May 25, 2019We((9 adults) had a wonderful week in a wonderful house, even though weather was not so fine. The most friendly and helpful owner Paul compensated it with warmin up the heating. Thanks for carrying a lot of pellets immediatelly. From the beginning of booking the villa, we had a real good communication. The house was as pretty as in description. Clean, quiet, huge property with lovely fittings. We recommend it for great holidays in Sicily. Thanks a lot to the busy employees and especially to Paul!

Stayed Jul 28, 2018We all loved our stay at Villa Edera. We were a family group of 11 aged 73 to 5 years. The house catered for us perfectly giving us spaces to be together and spaces to find peace. We all loved the gardens, ideal for children especially the football nets. Picking lemons and apples was a joy. Spying on the Bats in the shed! The pool is lovely and much needed in the extreme heat! The kitchen has all one needs with an adjacent patio and large table for evening meals and BBQs. Staggered breakfasts were had on the patio outside the huge living room and lunch was under trees on a King Arthur size Round Table! Local shopping is easy on a daily basis to get everything fresh and there is a great supermarket La Zagara a few km away. The Villa is close to many beautiful towns and villages. We took the cable up Etna which is a must. Fascinating. We visited Siracusa, Taormina, Zafferana Etnea, Castiglione di Sicilia and the gorges of Alcantara. Paul was extremely helpful before our arrival with my endless questions and indeed whilst we were there and made everything very easy for us. Thank you both for a wonderful visit!

Stayed Oct 1, 2017This property is somewhat isolated if you do not have a car. The beds and sitting rooms were very comfortable. My only suggestion is to improve the hot water situation, it takes a long time to heat up and was never really hot. Overall, it is a lovely home with beautiful gardens, very peaceful.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We were 2 french families of 10, 2 couples and 6 kids in total, spending two weeks at the villa. The house is very well maintained and was ideal for our 2 families. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you get... a little taste of paradise. The swimming pool is great and there are plenty of spaces inside and outside the house for meals and relaxing. It was so nice we didn't have to travel so much too spend a fantastic time. There are great restaurants and places to visit nearby. You are at 40mns in car from Taormina, a bit more than 1 hour from Syracuse so day visits are quite convenient, but don't forget to visit the area and its vineyards for instance. Local villages really bring you the atmosphere of sicilian life and even in august you will not be inundated by tourism in this area. The landlord addressed our issues in a very diligent and efficient ways and we had excellent relation with Paul. We really felt well looked after in this house and I warmly and enthusiastically recommend it.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969As many of thee reviews are several years old we wanted to do an up to date review of Villa Edera. Our multi generational family from Canada and Scotland met here for 2 glorious weeks in this fabulous home. The house is exactly as shown in pictures but better. Clean and well equipped . Linens and towels were fabulous. Paul was there when needed and helpful. The setting is wonderful. Etna watches you the entire time. We were there as the spring buds bloomed and the roses opened. Sadly too soon for the citrus blossoms but we were able to make lemonade from the few remaining lemons in the orchard! The pool had only been opened a week but our family enjoyed the COLD water on the hot days. Kids enjoyed playing soccer on the side fields and exploring the property. They could run for hours. The stone house would be a welcome on a hot day but we used the heaters in the evening esp on days when we went exploring and house was closed up. (additional cost). Trescastagni is a 5 min drive and has everything you need. 2 grocery stores, butcher, fruit market, bakery, and a great take away spit roasted chickens. Half hour from Catania and most of an hour to Taormina but easy travelling to explore the east side of Sicily. Great hike and history at Pantilicia. Would highly recommend at stay at Villa Edera. Our family were sad to leave. Thanks Paul for a wonderful holiday.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Staying at Villa Edera was a complete delight. We cannot recommend it highly enough as it was totally perfect for our group: we had 2 OAP's, 2 couples, 1 single mum and four young children (5,twins of 6, and 7years). The children had the basement rooms (2 x 2 + 2 bathrooms) which were beautifully cool although with good windows and we were very happy about them being there away from the grown-ups upstairs. It made them behave in a more grown-up way(to ours surprise!) and they all slept brilliantly! The arrangement of the house helps the spacious feel enormously; we all felt very private in our comfortable, clean and well thought-out rooms. Good linen, lovely towels. Tiny things but these make a difference. The children were extremely safe in the beautiful grounds - which were still wild enough to kick a football or find the fairies. Its a big plot. The pool was sparkling pristine with comfortable seating - where we spent nearly the entire week! The kitchen was just perfect with potential dining in a choice of 4 places. Lounge areas were relaxing, fragranced by jasmine from the garden with views of the roses and well-kept garden. Getting provisions was easy, about a 5-minute drive to the nearest super market where we found everything we needed and there are great restaurants nearby if you want a change. However, this place is so perfect and surprisingly 'complete' that this happened less often than we'd thought. Paul, the owner is hard-working to ensure all your needs are met and the villa kept perfect. His English is near-perfect and we had absolutely no problems. We had the most marvellous week here - we all want to return and am sure whoever visits Villa Edera will have the most fantastic time at very good value.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We (4 adults 2 adult children 4 children under 10) stayed at Villa Edera for a week in January. House The house is very beautiful with interesting architecture, large living areas, a lot of bedroom space. The pictures are accurate. The bathrooms were excellent, with ample hot water. It is clearly a family home and felt warm and inviting, works of art and interesting objects in all rooms. And gorgeous majolica tiles! The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and basic foods, crockery, and so on. There was a large laundry, lots of linen and so on. The central heating was very effective and there was an open fire and lots of wood. The pool and garden would be lovely in summer. Location The house is located on the outskirts of Catania in a small town. You really need a car because walking to the town was not very easy (narrow rd, no footpath , fast cars. There might have been an alternative route though, you could ask Paul if this matters to you). It is a good spot for day trips, we easily got to Taormina, Ortygia, Ragusa, Piazza Armerina, Mt Etna. I say easily although driving in Sicily was challenging and we'd only just found our feet by the end of the trip, (we should have hired an automatic). All these places were great, we wished we had more time. The upside of winter travel is that we had these places almost to ourselves (in particular i imagine in peak season Armerina and Taormina would be very busy) Admin matters Paul was very easy to deal with and was there when we arrived to show us the house etc. we had one problem a with a fuse and he was on his way immediately (ended up we sorted out). He also recommended restaurants and day trips. Overall I thought the villa was very good for a group of our size and if you want to stay in this area of Sicily, I recommend it.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We loved our two weeks at Villa Edera. Built in the 1950s by the present owners parents for family holidays the house, landscaped gardens and pool are a delight having been designed by an architect friend with an unusual attention to detail. This care continues today and we have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone looking for a stylish place to stay. We regularly rent large houses for family holidays and consider this to be our best yet and hope to return in the future.
