Stayed Jul 26, 2025The House and surroundings exceeded our expectations!. The location is very private which we enjoyed very much. The layout of the house and facilities inside and out were perfect for our party of 8 (4 adults, 4 children). Everything worked, the kitchen was very functional, enough plates and cutlery to host a large dinner party!... The village shops were a very short walk away, which made getting the daily baguettes easy. We loved everything about the house... we had a wonderful holiday.

Stayed Jul 22, 2023There are plenty of outdoor activities in the area, whether by and on the lake and by the seaside. There are aqua parks, play parks and a zoo nearby. Arcachon is about a 40 minute drive away with some very lovely restaurants also some activities for smaller children on rainy days, Bordeaux about an hour away and you can visit the Sauternes vineyards in just over an hour. Saint Emillion takes a little longer (traffic dependent around Bordeaux) but well worth the effort. About ten minutes from the house there are three restaurants, three cafes, three boulangiere and an Intermarche. You can walk to the lake in 15 minutes, lots of good cycle/walking/running tracks and three more restaurants. The local square has markets twice a week and lots more of events in the summer weeks. Local people very friendly and welcoming.

Stayed Jul 30, 2022We had a very enjoyable stay at Villa Fougeres. The pictures don’t do it justice - the villa is very spacious and the pool a good size. We loved the setting at the edge of a pine forest too. We found the location close to the lake to be very convenient. The villa is well equipped and we enjoyed cooking on the barbecue several times. The only very minor niggle was having to bring our own bed linen and towels as this took up a lot of space in our car - so it would be great if that could be provided - but that was clearly stated in the property particulars so we did know this when booking but decided to go ahead anyway as the villa looked so nice. All in all a great stay - and thanks to Anne-Sophie for an efficient check in and out.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Charles & Teresa are great hosts and were very accommodating to ensure that our stay was relaxed and enjoyable. Loads of space, for our family of 5. Pool was large and safe, kids loved it. Also had a grass area where we could play cricket. Very private and not overlooked yet close enough to town that we could walk to the stunning lake. Also stunning coastal areas that were within easy reach by car. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We had a magnificent stay in this beautiful villa for a very special family holiday. The villa was perfectly layed out with everything you need and very well designed, the beds were very comfy and all areas were spotless. The pool was lovely to have use of on beautiful hot days and the outside patio was perfect for sunbathing or cooling off. Sanguinet itself is a beautiful location extremely close to many facilities and activities and Sanguinet Lake itself is stunning. We highly recommend this stunning villa to anyone looking for a perfect holiday. Full marks, we loved our stay THANKYOU

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We have just returned from a wonderful week staying in Villa Fougere in Sanguinet. The whole family had a great holiday. The pool at the property was greatly used as we initially had very high temperatures. The property is ideally set up for 2 families and was nicely presented. Maryline was very welcoming and between our French and her English we were shown everything we needed to know. The lake is nearby and as well as swimming, our 2 granddaughters made use of the paddleboarding on offer. A very happy week for us all.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Villa Fougeres is a beautifully located villa in Sanguinet. Situated in its own grounds with a good sized swimming pool, it was the perfect place for our family party to relax and unwind and to enjoy the wide range of local activities. We also appreciated the local information provided by the owners; this was very helpful during our fortnight’s stay. The villa is extremely spacious, comfortable and very well-equipped, and we wanted for nothing during our stay. We were a party of 6, and the layout of the villa meant that we had sufficient space to ourselves as well as a lovely communal table by the pool at which we ate, chatted and played games. We enjoyed playing badminton on the lawn, and swimming in the pool. The pine trees and private setting of the villa gave it added seclusion, and was a great place for star-gazing at night. The local area is full of activity; we enjoyed cycle rides round the nearby lake, fishing, two rounds of golf and trips to the Thursday and Sunday market at Parentis for amazing fresh local produce. (I would recommend a meal at ‘Chez Flo’ in Parentis). Other interesting locations include: Mimizan, Biscarosse, the Dune du Pyla and Arcachon for both beach and shopping. Our holiday took place during the fiesta of the bulls in Parentis, and we enjoyed the associated festivities which showed a slice of authentic French life. We would highly recommend Villa Fougeres for a restful holiday in which you can choose to laze by the pool or to venture further afield in the quiet countryside of Les Landes. The town of Sanguinet is a 5 minute walk away and there are friendly local shops and restaurants (one of the bakeries made a birthday cake for our daughter) as well as a well-stocked supermarket for basics. All members of our party enjoyed our stay at Villa Fougeres and would recommend it unreservedly for a fantastic French holiday. We hope to return in the future. Sylvia and Mark Taylor

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We stayed at Villa Fougères, Sanguinet in August 2016. Our party was 2 families with 4 children aged from 18 months to 12 years old and there was plenty of space for us all and the bedrooms were spacious and comfy. The property is lovely, with a great swimming pool, nice lawned garden area and everything you need for a great self-catering holiday. It's well stocked with games, toys and kitchen equipment and the British TV was a bonus so we could watch the BBC coverage of the Olympics! It was very clean and tidy when we arrived. The area was lovely, the lake beaches around Sanguinet were very pleasant with lovely warm water and shady trees as well as some fun watersport opportunities. The supermarket was an easy drive/walk away and there are boulangeries, a pharmacy, a bike hire shop, a tourist office and a couple of cafes and other shops in Sanguinet itself a short walk away. There are some markets and festivities for tourists to attend in Sanguinet, though we were quite happy at the villa most evenings so we didn't visit these. Biscarosse beach was beautiful, easy to get to and good fun for bodyboarding and a bit of shopping. It was very hot when we were there, in the mid 30s most of the time and the property did stay remarkably cool, but there is no air conditioning, which we knew in advance. Also the pool isn't heated, again this was clear in the property info provided - this wasn't an issue for us as it was so hot it wasn't necessary! There was always somewhere shaded to sit outside to avoid the sun. The villa is very well situated as it felt very private and not overlooked, but it is not in the middle of nowhere. The information provided by the owners was helpful and clear and the whole process was hassle-free. We like to change our holiday destinations each year but we would definitely return in the future.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our two families had a lovely week at Villa Fougeres in Sanguinet. The layout of the villa is great, with ample space for our group of four adults and five children (3yrs – 7 yrs). We had lovely weather so most of our time was spent outdoors, and we made daily use of the pool, terrace and garden – the children enjoyed the toy cupboard! The villa is well equipped with all the essentials, and the barbeque was well used. The villa is ideally situated – the terrace and pool are not overlooked, and garden is bordered by pine trees which was lovely and peaceful (as much as it can be with five children around!). It is only a few minutes cycle into town for the daily morning trip to the boulangerie or to pick up supplies from the supermarket. What made the holiday for us was being able to abandon the car for a week and make good use of our bikes. Apart from one day trip to the Dune de Pilat (recommended – amazing views), we cycled everywhere! The lake is fantastic – small quiet beaches adjacent to the cycle path, friendly kiosks for snacks and ice creams, water sports rental and a safe environment for children to play in the water. We asked the children if they wanted to go to the sea, but they preferred to stay at the lake! We would definitely recommend the villa and the area for a relaxing family holiday, and hope to return ourselves.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We spent a week at Charles and Teresa's villa in August and were delighted with the amount of space we had (we were a party of 9 with 2 separate families) and the facilities available. The swimming pool was wonderful and the outside seating area and bbq was perfect for eating out. The location of the villa was ideal, with beautiful lakes nearby and the beach only 20 minutes away. Charles and Teresa provided us with a lot of helpful information on the local area and we were welcomed at the villa by Maryline, who was extremely hospitable. The villa was very well stocked and there was nothing we lacked, which is unusual in a holiday home. We would thoroughly recommend the villa for relaxation, comfort and tranquility.
