Stayed Jul 13, 2019We had a fantastic week with all our family. The villa was perfect for all ages and offered plenty of space with numerous tranquil spots both on the balconies and the garden overlooking the sea. The recommendations from Christine and Francois on what to do were a great introduction to this area of Corsica. We look forward to staying longer next time!

Stayed Dec 8, 2018We were 6 adults and 5 children staying for an extended weekend of 4 days. The weather was still mild and sunny in late fall and the views on the Corsican mountains and the bay of Ajaccio were stunning. The villa is spacious, very well furnished and in top shape. We used the living room fireplace (it has an extraordinary sixteenth century mantelpiece) every night, it was magical. It is a great place for families.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our two week stay at Mare E Monti was an absolute dream; I could not be more enthusiastic in recommending this home to anyone looking to spend their vacation in a veritable paradise. We were 2 couples, 3 children and 1 grandparent, and booked an 'off-season' holiday at the end of September. Not long after our arrival we realized a major perk of booking off season: uncrowded beaches with absolutely perfect summer weather! Mare E Monti's spectacular ocean-view infinity pool is surrounded by lounge-chairs and palm trees and bordered by a lush garden... good luck ever tearing yourself away. I should also mention that this lavish pool area is accessible by both the main living quarters of the house and by the bedrooms, which we found extremely convenient for our kids and elderly grandparent. Pool amenities also include a shaded lounge and dining area (also with an Ocean view), a barbecue, outdoor refrigerator, pool toys and floats, and easy access to a downstairs kitchenette. The grounds at the front of the house include a lush garden, an elevated hammock-hideaway in a quiet shady corner, and an outdoor eating area punctuated by a lovely little fountain. The bedrooms are attractively furnished, comfortable and very clean. Five out of six have full attached bathrooms . All bedrooms are equipped with WiFi and air conditioning, as is the main area of the house. The upstairs living/dining/den areas are elegant yet cozy at the same time, and the entire back wall of this floor is composed of large sliding glass doors that open onto a beautiful terrace running the length of the entire villa. There is a dining area and lounge on this upper terrace as well! The kitchen has every piece of equipment you can think of, and if you're looking for the ultimate in extravagance, the owners will set you up with your own chef. They arranged for us a very personable French cook who prepared truly delicious, fresh meals that even our children were not afraid to eat. Sublime. Speaking of kids, families will find this home very child-safe. There are gates on stairways, the entire property is fenced-in (artfully disguised by beautiful flowers and foliage), and there is a smattering of children's furniture (highchair etc) available for use. We were also really comforted by the fact that the owners of this home are easily reached and are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be booking again, and I encourage anyone interested in perfection to do the same!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This villa is and has everything one could wish for! Located perfectly with stunning views over the sea and great sun exposure throughout the day the villa provides high quality amenities only. Air condition, great BBQ, TV room, plenty of kitchen utilities and not to mention a great pool. We were 4 families in total but still had plenty of space. The house is very child friendly (apart from the pool which always requires supervision anyway). There are plenty of beaches and good beach restaurants within 10-20min driving distance. Shopping facilities are a bit further away so make sure to buy weekly supply first time. We hope to come back soon!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our two week stay in this house was wonderful. Our group consisted of four adults and three children ages 6, 4 and 1. The setting is lovely. The property is attractively landscaped and the multitude of porches and terraces provide space for everyone to sit and relax in peace! The view could not be better and we spent quite a few days and nights enjoying it. The owner was as responsive and responsible as any I've ever experienced before (and I've rented 14 houses in the last 7 years). When we had difficulty finding the house (and conversing with the french caretaker) the owner's daughter made all the necessary calls to get everything in order. A small problem with the dishwasher was dealt with immediately. The owner is definitely on top of things and takes good care of the house. The bedrooms are simply furnished but the house in general feels extremely comfortable. The bathrooms are nice, clean and bright, the kitchen is well kitted out (I apologize to the owner...we used up all of his fig balsamic vinegar!) and there are pool toys available for the kids. There are ample beach towels and bath towels and paper towels for that matter!! This is not a house where the owner leaves you with one roll of toilet paper and says 'good luck'. You will have everything you need. We were pleased to find that the house is quite child friendly. The main living areas are on a different level from the pool, so the kids could play on the porch off the living room while we cooked dinner and we knew that there were gates and doors preventing them from getting down into the pool area. The house is on an attractive peninsula overlooking the harbor. There are several nearby beaches to choose from, some within walking distance, but we expecially liked one that was a 15 minute drive away and had good restaurants, perfect white sand, chairs to rent and shallow blue water. Given the challenging, twisty roads between the house and the nearest towns....we tended to stay in at night and cook our own meals, but there are some nice restaurants within a 30 minute drive. We did not use the single bedroom downstairs but I feel I should mention that it is very small. Overall, we loved our time in this home. I use the word 'home' because unlike many rental houses, this one feels as though it is lovingly cared for and used on a regular basis by its owners. I recommend this home highly.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I recently celebrated my fiftieth birthday holiday at this villa. We had eleven adults, in all, filling the 6 bedrooms. Four of the bedrooms face the beautiful Mediterranean with views of the city of Ajaccio and the mountain ranges beyond. There were no complaints from those in the back bedrooms, who enjoyed late morning rises, undisturbed by the rest of the guests. The villa itself is situated on a hillside with views on three sides. A heated pool seamlessly melds the picturesque landscape with the beautifully landscaped yard and terrace. The well-appointed kitchen allowed us to enjoy many of our meals at home at one of four dining areas both inside and out. There is a banquet-seating corner on the upper terrace that was perfect for sunset happy hours or early morning coffee and croissants. There wasn’t a time of day or night when the view was any less than stunning. It was also only a quick walk down to a great swimming cove amongst the impressive boulders that made up the shoreline. The owners were very accommodating and helpful with suggestions to make the best of our experience on Corsica. I would recommend this villa to anyone wanting a special destination for a special holiday.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The house is on a hillside on two levels: living/dining/ kitchen, master suite, deck on the upper; three ensuite sea-view bedrooms below opening onto the garden/pool area. (Fifth bedroom has only a small window.) Upon retiring, we could lie in bed with the sliding doors open to the fresh night air, watching the twinkling necklace of lights across the bay. The house is in a neighborhood of houses but feels very private. The only contiguous lot is far below. There are electric shutters, awnings, and pool cover for comfort and ease. House keys have remote control for entry walk lights. Many spots to congregate or slip off alone to nap or read, including a shaded hammock and conversation area up in the rock garden and a table for 12 with outdoor grill at the pool (secondary kitchen nearby). Four cars can be parked on site. *** The garden is exquisite. Hydrangeas all over, with rose, lavender, and blue blossoms on the same bush. Each corner of the house was covered with a different flowering vine. The dining room captures a stunning view of the hillside rock garden of natural boulders, trees with driftwood-like trunks and hydrangeas. A fountain with running water. Master bath has a very large window with a beautiful view of the path to the back gate. Entire garden is lighted at night. It is clear that a perfectionist oversees it all. *** Appointed with antiques, the house is also very thoughtfully equipped with quality bed, bath, and beach linens, and china and cookware. Computer, Internet access and TV/DVD equipment are good. *** The owners made sure we knew where to shop and get gas, how to operate everything. They were available by phone for any problem. In making the business arrangement, they were responsive and clear, documenting everything, but simply. A total pleasure to deal with. *** Five minutes down an oleander-lined street and path, we swam off the rocks in the crystal-clear, turquoise/indigo Mediterranean. We could seek out the old towns in the mountains, the sixteenth-century Genoese watch towers on each promontory, ancient archeological sites, and beautiful hiking trails. Coast or inland, the views are extraordinary with every turn in the road. Unspoiled by development. The owners provided a book detailing restaurant, shopping, transportation, and sporting options. We needed a doctor for a sprained ankle and the book told us exactly whom to call. *** Not an investment or vacation property, the house is a lived-in, cherished personal home.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Our experience at Mare E Monti was memorable and exceeded all our expectations. The panoramic view of the Mediterannean sea and the mountain takes your breath away the second you enter the house and never ceases to change throughout the day.The large fresco and the sixteenth century fireplace of the living room are examples of the uniqueness of this house. The home is welcoming with its comfortable and beautifully decorated living quarters. The accomodations are modern with spacious bathrooms and quality bedding. The kitchen is very well equipped to suit any cooking endeavours.Whether you eat breakfast on the upper terrace overlooking the ocean, have dinner for 12 in the dining room or enjoy an outdoor lunch by the pool, there is something for everyone. That's for the house .What to say about Corsica !!It is without any doubt the most beautiful place we have ever seen : beaches, old villages,mountains...how come no one knows about it ?
