Beautiful and peaceful. Great location to explore the tropical side of the Big Island. If you don’t mind the sound of nature to put you to sleep at night, then this is the perfect place. Completely eco-friendly with solar everything. Has water filter system for clean water to drink and cook with. Beds were comfortable with plenty of clean towels. On site washing machine/dryer for convenience. Stella, the cat, is a resident cat who’s super friendly and highlight for the kids. If you want to reconnect with nature, then this place is the perfect place. Make sure to bring bug-spray/repellent for the mosquitos.

The pictures don't really do the property justice, it truly is a beautiful home and property. The kitchen was fully equipped, house was very clean, and the layout of the house was great. A very quiet and private setting, and we enjoyed our stay immensely and highly recommend this property to anyone.

This was one of the best VRBOs my family of five has ever stayed in. It was absolutely beautiful, and the grounds were stunning. It was incredibly private and peaceful and unique -- truly a highlight of our visit to Hawaii. I wish we could have stayed longer.

This place is AMAZING! It's stunningly beautiful, meticulously maintained and the host is phenomenal. The weather was terrible while we were there but we still loved this property. I would not hesitate to stay here again in the future!

Very welcoming house manager. Clean, quiet, and beautiful landscaping. I can tell it was thoroughly thought out. Areas for improvement is just covers over the skylight in the master bedroom and master bathroom for sleeping. We thought there would be a remote but there didn’t seem to be. Other than that amazing.

This property is very beautiful. We had a great time on our trip and it was always great to come back to the hot tub overlooking a tropical paradise. Michael was very helpful with everything, and was very fast to respond when an issue came up. We will definitely stay here again if we make it back to the big island.

The entire experience was as expected and better. The photos do not do the property justice — though they accurately represent how amazing it is — and Michael is a fantastic connecting and caretaker of the property. I hope we can return year and year.

Wow what an amazing place! I could have spent weeks admiring all the plants and trees and still found new beauty. Everything is so thoughtfully put together. Beds were comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed and inside and out everything was super clean. Michael was so kind to show us around the property as well.

Wanted to explored a new part of the Big Island near the volcano. It’s an hour drive to VNP. Stunning property although I wasn’t sure how much of it I could roam on. There are other homes on the property and I didn’t want to trespass. The house we had was very private though. Very very rainy part of the island. I wanted to sit outside more but everything was so wet. Noisy coqui frogs at night but along with the rain I was lulled to sleep. Michael was great to work with. A unique experience but pretty far away from everything. It’s truly a one of a kind property!

I have never been anywhere like this place! It is truly and island paradise like you’ve only seen in movies or in your dreams. The owner and caretaker have meticulously designed this home to be a living work of art. The botanical gardens are breathtaking and the home is full of a collection from all over the world (including a gong held by two soldiers begging to be rung as the sun rises over the ocean in the distance as you sip your morning coffee). We stayed for a short 2 nights while visiting Volcano National Park and wished we had stayed at least another night. Pahoa is just 10 minutes away with a number of places to grab breakfast or dinner alongside locals and off the beaten tourist path. You will not regret staying here. Thank you so much to David and Michael for sharing this special home and your work of art with others!

The pictures don't do it justice! We had an amazing 3-night stay with our family of 4 (2 teenagers- 13 and 16). Beautiful, relaxing house and property. Never once turned on the TV. Kitchen is well-stocked for cooking. No AC (of course), but plenty of fans for use in the bedrooms if you are a hot sleeper. I enjoyed listening to the frogs at night. The soaker tub (cold plunge/hot tub) was a nice perk.Great information provided in advance - and tips for things to do in the area. We explored the new black sand beach created after the 2018 eruption.Make sure to take time to ask for a tour of the property and try some of the edible fruits.Wish we could have stayed a week!

Our family of 5 stayed for 3 nights as we explored the Hilo side of the Big Island. The home and property were spectacular. The photos, while amazing, cannot do justice to how beautiful the property truly is; it is like staying in a secluded botanic garden. The home itself is amazing as well; it was very clean, spacious, and very well stocked with everything we needed. Very much appreciated the grill and the amazing gas (propane) range for cooking meals. Michael was extremely helpful with everything; he was very courteous and very responsive. Very, very highly recommended place for anyone looking for a secluded retreat in a natural, verdant, and lush Hawaiian setting!

Pictures can not do this place justice. We felt so lucky to be able to stay at such an incredible property. Check-in was easy. The groundskeeper, Michael, was there to greet us and answer any questions. The house itself is really unique and special. However- the garden that surrounds you is absolutely breathtaking. If you are thinking about it, do it! I would absolutely stay here again.

Quiet, ocean view off in the distance, amazing sunrises. It's a massive garden. Big enough to have a run through for a few laps. With edibles and flowers, the design took vision and tons of work. The house itself is great. We had a few unlucky power issues, but the house manager was so responsive, polite and pleasant it didn't bother us much. We are already scheming to come back here.

My family and I spent a wonderful week at Hale Muhalo. The property is even more beautiful in person and the house was clean, modern and extremely comfortable for a family of five. Michael is a wonderful host and the care he and his team put into the place really shows. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone who is looking for peace and tranquility on their trip to the Big Island.
