You'll feel well-cared for and cozy in this new two-bedroom home. High-end design and luxury finishes bring art, comfort and beauty indoors; wrapping you in a jewel box of tranquility. The large open deck offers plenty of outdoor living space. The black sand beach of Kahena is a ten-minute walk. The area is a perfect retreat from city life and technology, as it combines the lush green of forests and gardens with the rugged formations of lava flows and natural hot pools. The dominance and power of mother nature on display reminds you of your connection to the natural world.
Quiet, remote and tranquil, but full of places to explore and find inspiration. The nearby town of Pahoa has a world-class farmers market and unique locally owned boutique shops. This is a part of Hawaii that is not at all overrun by tourists. You’ll easily fall into the flow of the slow-paced, gracious nature of the area and feel the welcome hospitality and aloha that we all treasure.
Pohohiki is eight miles away and offers natural lava heated hot ponds and a stunning beach. Walk for miles along a lava shelf with tide pools and new plants popping out through lava rock that not long ago, flowed in molten form.

The home is newly renovated in 2021 and offers open spaces, fresh breezes, and an ideal mix of indoor and outdoor living. Both bedrooms have king beds featuring Keetsa brand high-end firm mattresses and crisp percale cotton bedding. All the modern luxuries are here, and we've stocked the home with everything you might need.
Fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves in the background with cool evening breezes of fresh air. The sun rises each morning filling the home with sun. Shower each morning in soft, filtered rainwater, from our catchment system, and have your Kona coffee on the outdoor deck as you try to distinguish the dozens of different bird calls all around.
The home is owned and designed by a local interior designer with a special skill for designing spaces that create a sense of comfort and balance. Open spaces and a thoughtful floor plan create ease, while luxury finishes and artful touches inspire moments of gratitude for the beauty surrounding you.

The caretaker's cottage is occupied by master gardener and long-time resident JRo. He's on-call if needed and ensures you are oriented, happy and well-cared for; all while offering you total privacy.

This is old school, slow down and relax Hawaii.
The home is part of a small cluster of roughly 35 homes along the coast in a small grid of four roads. This small enclave is then surrounded by three large forest reserves, three state parks, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and virgin open spaces so tranquil that one of the largest dwellings in the area is the nearby Buddhist Monastery.
This is a very lush and secluded area. You will here coqui frogs sing through most of the night. There are no street lights, so flashlights and headlamps can be helpful.

You will be moments away from being able to admire the beautiful formations at the Lava Tree State Park.
We are close to the Kalani Retreat Center, Volcanoes National Park, Kaimu Beach, Isaac Hale Beach, Uncle Robert's Kava Bar, and the oceanside McKenzie State Park.
Kehena Black Sand Beach is a ten minute walk. This clothing-optional beach is know for dolphins that come to play with humans.
We are 10 miles from the spectacular surfing beach at Pohoiki, a 20-minute drive from popular restaurants like Paolo's, Ning's and Kaleo's, and 90 minutes by car from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The bustling town of Hilo, 32 miles north, is home to a multitude of unique shops, restaurants, and entertaining hangouts.
We are nine miles from fabulous neo-hippy town of Pahoa with its new, large market. Every Wednesday a fabulous evening farmers market with crafts and food.

Amazing property and location if you are looking to chill. If I could have given this more than 5 stars I would have. Beautifully stocked kitchen and a fabulous welcome basket with goodies that helped us all week. I would definitely stay here again, and I hope to do so in the near future.

We absolutely loved the Kehena Hideaway! It was the perfect way to start our Hawaii vacation. Property is even more beautiful in person! They truly thought of every possible thing you might need which is good as stores are about 30 min away in Pahoa. We stopped at Safeway on the way there groceries etc. Beds were comfortable, air conditioning worked perfectly, kitchen was well stocked and having fresh ground coffee daily was a treat. And we loved the heated toilet seats, new for us. Highlight was sitting on the huge back porch and being serenaded by Coqui frogs and Geckos in the evening. The home is surrounded by the most amazing tropical garden with huge variety of flowering plants and palms. We loved every minute of our stay and due to the rain Jro let us use covered parking to load up our suite cases. 5 stars and would highy recommend this stay to all of our family and friends!

Walking into this condo is amazing. It is spacious, modern, comfortable, and so lovely.. The large lanai is perfect for peeking at the ocean and looking at the beautiful tropical garden. A basket of goodies and homebaked cookies awaited us. The kitchen and supplies were above and beyond what most condos have. J Ro was the perfect host. We can’t wait to go back!

We had a wonderful stay. The place was beautifully maintained, spotless, and extremely well equipped, making it feel very comfortable. The location was great for us, just steps from a stunning beach, and the lush jungle surroundings with a gorgeous balcony. The host was very responsive and great to communicate with. As with any tropical, jungle setting, you’ll see some harmless geckos around—which is completely normal for the area and part of the local charm. We would absolutely recommend this place.

My friend and I loved the house. So many thoughtful details, well stocked house, a welcoming basket. Super clean, decorated modern and cozy, loved hearing the coqui frogs. It was a great place to call home for a few days while exploring the island. Oh and that avocado someone gifted us was so yummy. Thank you to the owners!

The house was gorgeous and immaculate, luxury amenities included and a wonderful welcome basket as well. The area is very remote so best for dinners cooked at home. There is a nice market about 20 minutes away. A nice base to explore Volcano National Park.
