Perched above the Village of Oak Creek, The Wild Horse Retreat is a two-bedroom, two-bath Sedona home created for relaxation and reconnection, whether you’re returning from a day on the trails or simply came to the desert to slow down.
Inside, the house is filled with natural light and designed to keep you connected to the landscape outside. Soaring ceilings and floor-to-ceiling cathedral windows frame treetop views, with Sedona’s red rocks appearing beyond the branches. CastleRock is visible from the home, while Courthouse Butte sits beautifully framed between the trees. From different rooms, the landscape changes with you, from red-rock views in the living and dining areas to Wild Horse Mesa from the guest bedroom and bath.
The living room is the heart of the house, with a large leather sectional, gas fireplace and TV beneath the cathedral windows. It is an easy place to settle in after a hike, read for an afternoon or simply watch the light move across the landscape. A dedicated workspace and Starlink Wi-Fi make longer stays comfortable when a little work has to come along.
The primary suite has a king bed, blackout curtains, gas fireplace, TV and direct access to the patio. Its bright en-suite bath features dual vanities, a separate shower and deep soaking tub. Yoga mats are also available for slower mornings at home.
The second bedroom has a queen bed, walk-in closet, TV and a realistic electric fireplace, along with its own mini split for additional temperature control. Both bedrooms offer generous storage, and the home is intentionally set up for a maximum of four guests.
The fully equipped kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator with filtered water and ice, dishwasher, oven and stove, microwave, blender and toaster, along with cookware, dishes and everything needed for meals at home. A dedicated coffee and tea station includes a drip coffee maker, electric kettle and a selection of teas. The dining area seats four.
Step outside from either the living room or primary suite onto the patio, where a loveseat, chairs and table create a quiet place for morning coffee or an unhurried evening. Sit back and listen to the wind move through the trees, watch the light shift across the red rocks, or simply enjoy how still it feels. After dark, the patio becomes one of the house’s most memorable spaces, with Sedona’s dark skies opening overhead for spectacular stargazing.
Guests may also catch glimpses of the desert wildlife that occasionally moves through the wildlife trail behind the house.
One of the house’s favorite local secrets begins just 0.2 miles away. A little-known trail entrance, about a five-minute walk past only a handful of neighboring homes, leads up Wild Horse Mesa. From there, the landscape opens to expansive views looking north toward Bell Rock and the surrounding red rocks. It is an easy way to step into the desert without having to get in the car.
The Wild Horse Retreat also offers central air conditioning, an additional mini split in the guest bedroom, a washer and dryer, two garage parking spaces and room for two additional vehicles in the driveway.
More than anything, the house was created to bring the outside in. The windows, natural light and shifting views keep the desert present throughout the day, so staying home can feel just as much a part of your getaway as heading out to explore it.
