Lovely , peaceful home!

We had such a great time! The house includes a great yard and wonderful shoreline. The teens enjoyed tide-pooling, searching for crabs, oysters, and clams. Couldn’t have asked for better accommodations!

Loved staying at this rental, perfect spot if you are a PNW fan. Great space for dogs and woodsy, water ambiance. If you plan to prepare meals here bring your good French kitchen knife and olive oil. Otherwise the kitchen has everything you need. You will also need to give the house time to warm up unless you are here in warmer months. Wood stove is tricky and you may need to pick up bundled wood at the nearby Haro Hotel. I will definitely come back to stay.

Yes, as I'm in my 70 it would have been nice to have a few grab bars to help getting in and out of the hot tub and the bathtub. Other than that we had a wonderful time. Watching the water and the stars at night

Lovely stay at this house! Really enjoyed the house, the large yard, beautiful views of the bay, and the quiet peacefulness of the surroundings of roche harbor. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was very well stocked for cooking some meals at home. We saw seals, eagles roosting in nearby trees, and it was close to downtown Friday harbor. Great place!

Beautiful property and home! We loved every minute of our stay. Communication with the housekeeper was excellent. A couple very minor details could improve the home, but the beautiful view and location were absolutely phenomenal!

This house was a beautiful place to stay. Steps away from the beach, we were lucky enough to have a low tide and we were able to explore. We had the best weather possible for January so we were able to sit outside and just look at the activity on the water. Wish there would have been somewhere outside to have a fire, not sure if it’s even permitted to do so. we stayed a total of four nights totally worth it. We are hoping to do the trip again next year.

We had the most comfortable and relaxing stay. The house is located on such a beautiful property. The view never got old; it was wonderful enjoying it indoor, outdoor, or in the hot tub. The property felt private and serene. The house itself was very comfortable, had everything needed for an easy stay. We hope to be back.

The manager promised us a night’s refund for our troubles & never did. The septic tank alarm repeatedly sounded & we had to turn it off. The sump pump under the house ran for over 24 hours disrupting us & causing stress. The nasty worn & scratched floor needed to be vacuumed when we arrived because of all the hair & dirt. The main bedroom window was wide open because of a propane smell from the kitchen. The bed was unmade, there were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, wet & dry linens were left in the machines & there were no instructions for the heating units or appliances.

Gorgeous property, scenic views, and a great hot tub for relaxing.We loved being able to bring our dog with us, that just put it over the top!The kitchen was beautiful, and had thoughtful amenities, like an electric kettle, espresso machine, as well as a coffe maker.The bathroom was even updated with heated floors.

This property is just fantastic. The views, the wildlife in the backyard (deer, owls, woodpeckers, seals, otters, foxes, various birds, posters), the yard, the beach, the hot tub. The property is very near Roche harbor. Nitpicking any small imperfections would take away from a truly 5 star property. Hope to be back one day.

Amazing location, very private, great views from the house and from the hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped, and many toiletries were provided in the bathroom. A few areas for improvement that are by no means dealbreakers… The outdoor trash cans were nearly overflowing from prior guests. This resulted in us having to do some Tetris-like stacking with our trash. The arm chairs in the living room had multiple holes in them. The throw pillows on the couch, and the pillows on the beds, were quite stained. There is no AC, and the weather was rather warm when we visited. The beautiful windows that allow the incredible views also turn the house into a hot greenhouse when it’s sunny. We couldn’t leave one of the largest windows open to air out the house because it was missing a screen and yellow jackets kept flying inside. Some additional fans and screens on all the windows that open would be helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and would recommend this place to someone looking for a quiet retreat with excellent views close to Roche Harbor. The location outweighs any negatives I mentioned.

Location is everything!!! Roche Harbor is only a 15 minute walk down the road and then a path through beautiful woods. We were pleasantly surprised at how much larger the property is than photos depict and yes we had visitors every day, a mama deer and her two fawns! Note: we brought paddle boards and a kayak - check out the shoreline at low tide to see the best access point to the right of the stairs. The water was exquisite!

Exactly as described. It’s in a beautiful location at the north end of the island so it’s very calm and secluded. The views of the water from the back yard are great. We saw several river otters and other wildlife. The jacuzzi is a definite plus. The house itself is cozy and feels like it’s actually a home, and unlike many vacation rentals it includes plenty of space - and actual dressers! -to put clothes away. It was a perfect base for exploring the island.

I spent a month at this place, so I’m very familiar with it. The setting of the house is magical: fantastic view of the bay, easy access to the water to swim or launch a kayak, lots of room to run if you bring your dog, as I did, and the house is private and well off the road, which is itself very quiet and a wonderful place to walk. Sitting in the hot tub overlooking the water is divine. Access to the place was easy, and Jenny, the property manager is very responsive. The house itself, however, leaves something to be desired. Closet knobs missing, a kitchen drawer off its tracks, electrical outlets that don’t work, light bulbs burned out, torn upholstery on the furniture, and significant dog damage to the front door and entry floor, which one might expect to be repaired since they charge for damage. The living room rug is badly frayed, and I had to spend some time pulling threads out of the vacuum cleaner one evening. The deck paint is peeling, and the spa cover is torn and so damaged that it is waterlogged, very heavy, and difficult to get on and off. It would also be a nice touch to have a TV (the current one only plays DVDs) and a small table on the deck where you could have a coffee in the morning. Many of these problems have been mentioned before by others, so hopefully the owners will take notice and give the place a bit of badly needed TLC.

Great property and able to enjoy the area easily . Property is beautiful and access to walks on the beach. Hot tub is bonus which we enjoyed every evening.

Beautiful, serene property.

It’s a beautiful property and the views are fantastic. The yard is large and nice, and the hot tub is clean. The house is comfortable enough but could use updates. However, the beds are comfortable and the place is clean. If I owned this house, I’d upgrade the screens (to prevent ants and bugs, but we only saw a handful) and the living room furniture. Overall it’s a great place!

The location is very nice, situated on a private beach with good access to Roche Harbor and the ferry terminal. The property offers decent amenities, making it suitable for a relaxing stay. However, the house could use some maintenance, particularly the deck, which really needs to be repainted. The outdoor grill lacks proper cleaning tools and is dirty; the wire cleaning brush is also overdue for replacement. Inside the house, some of the furniture is worn out and has torn areas. On a positive note, the kitchen is nice, and we enjoyed cooking during our stay.

It is a wonderfully rustic place to relax with the kids!

View was stunning inside and out. Saw deer and baby fox’s and porpoise. Hot tub needed a water change and property manager made that happen next morning!! Kitchen was good to cook in other than 2 lights were burnt out and it needed some small sharp knives. WiFi was fine. Peaceful and pleasant to sit outside in the sun. A cross breeze cooled the house quickly when the windows were open. The house did need some minor attention. A few outlets were taped over, some big nail holes that needed to be filled, a wall here and there that needed paint, white towels in bathroom that need to be bleached or replaced along w the toilet seat which literally has the paint worn partly off. A few hours of attention and the house would be greatly improved. Appreciated it being dog friendly The dog had a great time too.Saw pods of orcas on the whale watching tours we did. What a change in scenery!

Upon pulling into the property, you are immediately hit with a sense of peace and tranquility! Nothing could beat sitting in that hot tub over looking the ocean. Except when magical sunsets, fox visitors, and a warm cozy bed are included as well! We loved our stay so much, our kids were very sad to leave!

Beautiful location, view and perfect amount of nature right in the back yard! There were deer, foxes and seals each day coming to visit. Very quiet and peaceful. The road loops to Roche Harbor and is a lovely 3 mile round trip run or walk. I didn’t realize there was no tv channels (dvds only) and that turned out to be the best thing for motivating me to drive over to the bookstore and pickup a book I’ve been wanting to read, and a puzzle for the rainy days. Cold plunging into the ocean each morning to start the day was my favorite part! Very cozy. Very quiet. Thank you for the experience!

The whole place was amazing!

We really enjoyed our stay. The property was beautiful and the amenities were great. We would love to come back. The only complaint was the delayed communication with the property management.

We enjoyed this place. My husband brought his portable kayak and had a great time on the water. I loved the swing! We enjoyed cooking in the well stocked kitchen. The sun room area made you feel like you were outside among the trees. A memorable time.

Had a nice quiet time with the family. Enjoying playing by the beach and relaxing time in the hot tub.

The location of this rental cannot be beat. Privacy galore with a big rolling lawn for the dog. That part was awesome. House was not clean when we arrived, as in dirty sheets, garbage. No one had cleaned between last guests and us. The owner responded right away when contacted and offered to get someone there but it was 4:30 so we declined and cleaned ourselves. Even if the cleaners had been there, the house and hot tub are beat. House needs a deep scrub, new paint and a refresh of furniture. Door and floors have been trashed by dogs. Kitchen has no bowls and coffee maker was broken. Despite the setting, I would not rent this house again.Too bad because a little work would make it a gem!

Place has all you can ask for and more. View is undescribable, sunset from the hot tub was unforgettable. Beach access and swing were out of a fairy tail. Will encourage this property to friends and family.

The property is beautiful and just what we were looking for in a vacation spot. Close to trails and an amazing sculpture park we explored over 2 days, a close drive to the ferry terminal and whale watching expeditions. We hit a snag with the property being ready, but the owner was very easy to communicate with and fixed the issue quickly and to our satisfaction. We would not hesitate to stay here again and hope to do so again. We would highly recommend this property as a serene island location to enjoy time in nature!

We had a great stay with our small family. A nice equipped kitchen for cooking and such a peaceful spot.

Wow, the house and views were even better than the photos. It’s so private and beautiful, and all the big windows allowed us to bird watch all day long. The hot tub was excellent. Our *only* constructive feedback would be to bring in more nonstick pans for cooking.

We love this house on San Juan Island. This was our second time staying at the house and the kids are begging to go back. The house is comfortable and has a great table for family dinners, board games and puzzles. The beach and property are just fantastic. The lack of internet is a small ding in my mind though it is helpful to get the kids off screens. Jenny was very responsive and helpful when we had an issue. Strongly recommend for some quiet downtime.

Gorgeous setting!!!

The house is located in a beautiful setting with magnificent views of Westcott Bay and access to a private beach. The hot tub overlooks the bay for a memorable sunset experience. However the house wasn’t very clean -dirty pans in the cupboard, dusty areas, and dirty carpet. The listing described a grill and said to be sure to turn off the tank. We found the tank empty and fully ‘on’. We messaged the owner through the sVRBO link we were told to use. No response from owner. Good for dogs, but we found dog waste all over the yard full of

My dog, husband and I had a fabulous time here! The view cannot be beat, location is fabulous and the hot tub with a view was superb!

The house sits on a beautiful property overlooking the water, and the huge windows accentuate the view. The house is comfortable and well maintained. We had a very relaxing time. The island is beautiful and the people are fantastic.

We stayed in October so it was very quiet. Lovely setting. Clean, well-equipped property. Some thoughtful extras like coffee pods, plastic bags, and a few things I tend to furgeg on such stays that made it much easier. Gorgeous view, little beach area. Comfortable furniture. We would stay again!

This was a very nice quiet unplugged family gathering. Great kitchen for cooking our meals. We very much enjoyedthe hot tub and watching the wildlife. The only thing that is even slightly negative is that there wasn't a landline as the paperwork stated and cell service is not good.

The views!

Truly a GREAT house and setting. The highlight was the star-filled nighttime sky while in the hot tub. Also watching a family of sea otters come ashore at the edge of this property made our stay very memorable. We quit talking several times just we could hear the total quietness of where we were. The only improvement to our stay would’ve been some firewood for the beach fire pit. FYI- we were able to access the house without the key as it was unlocked when we arrived.

Close to Roche Harbor Resort, spacious, peaceful and relaxing…..couldn’t ask for more. Have traveled to SJI several times and this time was the best! Celebrated my husband’s 78th birthday and our 40 anniversary by mostly eating in and spending quality time together with our little shih tzu Ruby. The home is well outfitted, and also offers a relaxing waterfront hot tub on the deck. All in all a wonderful place we will return to!

We had a relaxing stay enjoyed spending time sitting outside and taking in the scenery!

The location is fantastic, the property has amazing views, and the house is super cozy. The issue we had was upon arrival, the beds weren't made, just some sheets dumped on the beds. The other half of the sheets were in the dryer, and the towels were in the washing machine wet. Not awesome for a 11pm arrival. The dishwasher hadn't been unloaded, many of the dishes were dirty as were the pans. But, other than having to wash and clean before we started our holiday, everything else about the property was great. Hot tub was nice on the cool evenings. Also - not in the description - no Wifi. You're on the border with Canadian signal or no signal at all, so make sure you are prepared.

A beautiful property with quiet and seemingly private spot. Just a couple details need attention: 2 light bulbs in kitchen out, door knob on main bedroom closet door not secure, no salt but we left ours and when we took garbage out

My wife and I were looking for a place to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We booked this so far in advance that I honestly cannot recall how we settled on San Juan Island or what filters we used that led us to the Westcott Bay Little House but we won the lottery with this one. First, the location of the property is ideal. While there are neighbors on both sides you would not know they were there the way the property is landscaped. (Okay, the ongoing construction next door let us know they were there, but we were out most days so it was NBD.) Down a winding driveway with an expansive yard that runs to the bay. It is also located on the best side of the island. about a 5 minute drive to Roche Harbor, which is much more laid back than Friday Harbor, the main town. Literally across the bay from the Westcott Bay Shellfish Company, and on the same since of the island as the English Camp and Lime Kiln State Park and Lighthouse. When you want seclusion, it is the deepest quiet I have heard in years. No phone. No Internet (but very good Wi-Fi if you want it through Airalo and T-Mobile). The only mechanical sound is the the hum of the hot tub motor. Lots of wildlife (deer, fox, and Black Oystercatchers, for a few). The house was immaculately clean with every appliance and cooking utensil one might need. Open the large windows and the cross-ventilation is better than air conditioning. So much more to add, but for some reason VRBO has a 1500 character limit.
