Stayed Jan 14, 2024This is a unique little house where considerable thought has been put into every detail. The rooms are small but charming. Staying in Manapouri is a great way to avoid the tourist throng in Te Anau and it’s only a 15-minute drive away. Comfy beds, very quiet location. Our only problem was the lock box: two sources had different codes and we were trying what must be the old code; once we discovered the second code, all went swimmingly. Nice, too, to have 2 pm checkin and 11 am checkout. Highly recommended!

Stayed Dec 31, 1969The cottage is smallish and older style, but we absolutely loved it. Manapouri itself is very quiet, but within easy drive to Te Anau where there is food and shopping. There are a couple of food outlets in Manapouri itself and the people there are wonderful, but don't expect a huge range of choices. It's an incredibly beautiful spot and a very cosy and welcoming cottage.

Stayed Jan 30, 2026Pictures do not do the cabin justice. It’s a real sun trap with a great outdoor area. Extremely comfortable and cosy and only 5 minutes walk to the Church Bistro. Everything you need to be fully self catering.

Stayed Apr 15, 2025We loved the location of this cozy cottage in Manapouri. We were able to walk into the village easily and grab dinner and it was a short drive to Te Anau. The owners provided great information about the local area and hikes and had lots of great books about the area. We definitely felt like a local staying here and it was a perfect getaway spot. (We especially loved listening to the melodic birds while sitting on the patio.)

Stayed Feb 17, 2025Our family of four had a fantastic stay at Welcome Home Cottage. It is in a nice and quiet location and the house is great. Very cosy (can imagine it is great in winter!) with everything, and more, that you need. A short walk to the lake and the shopping area (café, restaurant/bar, takeways, a very interesting second hand shop, and the wee bookshop. We picked up groceries in Te Anau on the way. Plenty of cooking equipment at the cottage and a big BBQ. We got delicious fish/seafood and chip at the Travelling Chippy one night. We stayed four nights and did tours at Doubtful and Milford Sound. Staying at Manapouri was great for both and having gone to Te Anau a couple of times for supplies and activities we much preferred peaceful Manapouri location.Myell was a great host, providing us with all the info we needed and the check in/out process is simple.

Stayed Jan 10, 2025Really nice, cosy cottage with everything you would need for a stay in Fiordland. Great location with the lake and the cafes/shop just 5-10 min walk away. Outside BBQ area was really cool and the house was very nicely decorated. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Stayed Nov 25, 2024We loved this house: full of warmth and great character; well-built and well looked-after it just had a great feel about it and it made us feel a little bit like locals (!). Very comfortable with great heating, hot water, location, quiet, well-equipped and it even had sheep out over the back fence :-). Highly recommended.
