Middlegrounds offers it all- a romantic spot for two, a great family vacation, or a quiet getaway from your busy schedule.
The house is fantastic and just as pictured. The setting is warm and homey and very comfortable for the 5 adults when we had everyone together. We loved the small office, screened porch, and large family room. Being right on the water gave wonderful views just stepping out of the house. Sighted seals, loons, and a pair of bald eagles nests nearby for a daily visit. Couldn't ask for more! The communication from Karen was outstanding. e weathered Hurricane Lee during our stay, and the power went out. We didn't notice it at first because of the large generator kicked on immediately. When the generator shut down, a call to Karen, and the caretaker was there in 10 minutes to get it back on.
A five star home and location. This is our second time staying at Middlegrounds. We had friends with us the first week and family the 2nd week. The home is absolutely perfect for both. Incredible water views and beautifully landscaped property. The home is just perfect..casual elegance and space for everyone to spreadout. We rented standup boards and kayaks and enjoyed seeing the seals and loons, lobster boats and sailboats. 2 weeks flew by and we are all so sad to leave this perfect Maine vacation home!
This is our second time staying at Middlegrounds. We had two families with children. It is so spacious and wonderful. Love this little town too!
An awesome week with friends. Middlegrounds had everything we needed, plus. The house accommodated us very well and came equipped with everything. It was very convenient visiting Bar Harbor and other coastal and historic towns. Nothing but compliments from my group. Karen was great to work with. I highly recommend.
We had a wonderful stay at Middlegrounds. The house was lovely and well stocked, with beautiful views from all rooms. The kids loved the playroom and the fireplace made for a cozy November stay. Karen was very responsive and made the process very easy.
We had an amazing experience at Middlegrounds! The house is absolutely beautiful, wonderfully spacious and equipped, and magnificently located. An amazing place to be close to nature while in the comfort of home. The screen porch is perfection, as is the deck. Highly recommend.
This was our second stay at Middlegrounds and we loved it as much as we did the first time! The kids loved getting in the COLD water and the adults enjoyed morning coffee and afternoon cocktails on the screened porch with the fantastic view. Arborvine and Fish Net were great places to eat! We love being in Blue Hill which is close to so many interesting places. Karen was so helpful!! We plan to come back!!!
This property is the hallmark of architectural and natural beauty. The house has a spectacular view of the ocean, in a quiet bay, with fish, seals, sailboats and kayaks. The garden has native flowers attracting hummingbirds and butterflies. The interior is very comfortable and welcoming for a large family. It is the perfect place for a family reunion .
My family of 9 (including our newborn grandson and 80 year old mother) stayed in this beautiful home last week and can't say enough about wonderful our stay was. The home is very spacious and perfectly laid out so that everyone had a waterfront view from their bedroom and their own bathroom. It truly felt like we were staying in a luxury private resort. The house is immaculate and beautifully decorated with comfortable furniture. The grounds are stunning as well. There is an elegant, tree lined stone patio with stairs leading down the the rocky beach as well as a separate deck for sunning just above the water. We rented a canoe and standup board and enjoyed paddling out in the bay spotting seals and loons and other marine life. Dinner at Arborvine one night to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday was fabulous as was a breakfast at Sandy's. No need to drive any further than town for groceries and restaurants. We did a couple of day trips to Acadia for hiking and also checked out Deer Island another day. Everyone agreed it was a magical week and we definitely look forward to coming back again soon!
Middlegrounds is a lovely home, a large residence with plenty of space to spread out both inside and out. Our week in June served up a span of temperatures - gorgeous blue skies to a dark & stormy night, so adequate time to use the outdoor shower as well as the fireplace in the living room. There were large containers of Spring Water from Mount Desert Island in the kitchen and we enjoyed that we did not need to purchase bottled water or recycle all that plastic. The boilers in the basement kept the showers toasty and there was a special spigot in the kitchen that dispensed hot water for tea. The Weber grill on the deck served us well and the gas stove in the kitchen with a center griddle was great! Lots of lovely towels and bedding made for comfy living. We especially loved the screened in porch with 2 chairs that rocked. The town of Blue Hill is charming - we especially loved the library with the ongoing book sale and Sandy’s cafe. Chris, owner of Action kayak, delivered to Middlegrounds and could not have been nicer.
