Stayed Aug 12, 2025This is indeed a beautiful setting with daily eagle sightings - quiet and peaceful. The construction of the home is a beauty in itself. That said the place needs a thorough deep cleaning from top to bottom. I spent the first day cleaning just to make it ok. There is rustic and then there is a lack of attention that shows. The unreliability of hot water is unacceptable for a place in this price range. Restarting the hot water heater several times a day should not be part of what I need to do to make things work. The listing of 3 bathrooms is misleading. It’s 2.5 which makes a difference with a group of 8-10. The claim that the bunk room and basement bedrooms can conveniently use the upstairs bathroom is a stretch. The bunk room has 1 flight of stairs to climb and the basement bedroom 2 flights of stairs. And then factor in that at least 4 people from upstairs bedrooms are already using this bathroom, it can get crowded. Also be aware that the 5th bedroom is in the downstairs playroom which when we arrived smelled so musty it was unusable. The bed is in one end of the room with a leaf blower on the nightstand and a poster of osama bin Laden used for target practice staring at you. Again in this price range I find this situation not ok. Be advised there are many stairs to go in and out. Not a problem for everyone but def a problem for some. There did not seem to be a way to lock the door onto the screened porch. Not a big concern for us

Stayed May 22, 2025Went for a long weekend getaway with the family. It was not two far a drive for us all coming from different areas and was on the water in a nice spot. Spectacular views and a large enough place for us all to spread out and dog friendly.. We had some rain wind and cooler weather but an enjoyable time. Glad we did it!

Stayed Oct 6, 2023Christophers lakeside home was the perfect getaway for our bicoastal and European family of 3 generations looking for time together. The home is more than a cabin, but has the warmth and coziness of a cabin. We loved the large gathering spaces around the fireplace and the dining table. There was plenty of room for 10 people. The kitchen was well stocked, making cooking for a crowd fun. The home has many unique hand-hued features that we enjoyed and admired. There were several kayaks and a canoe which were greatly enjoyed. I can't say enough about the location. Very private, yet a warm and comforting retreat. There were many attractions nearby, hiking and walking trails a short distance away, the Fryeburg Fair and many good restaurants. Christopher couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating. It was a unique getaway for us and I would go again and stay longer.

Stayed Jul 9, 2022This property is very unique beginning with the remote location and the beautiful pond it is on. So many beds and bathrooms including an outdoor shower. Open floorplan with huge table for family dinners and games. The screened porch and back deck provided many hours of relaxation. The kitchen was very well equipped for wonderful bonding experiences cooking together and celebrating my 80th birthday. Can't say enough nice things about the fun we had with the kayaks and floating in the pond. We picked blueberries and made pancakes and muffins as a bonus. Cooked steaks on the grill and lobsters in the huge pans. We all loved the pool table and shuffleboard table in lower level. The owner has thought of everything. Privacy was awesome. 10 stars for this property.

Stayed Dec 27, 2021We had a lovely stay in this cozy home with six adults, three children and a dog. It's a well-loved home. Chris was communicative and helpful. We had plenty of snow, and the house is close to several different ski slopes - great for the children in our group.

Stayed Aug 14, 2021We very much enjoyed our stay at this home. The host was very responsive and provided helpful tips to make our stay convenient and comfortable. The house is very large and well-equipped, and its setting on the lake is most beautiful. We enjoyed swimming and boating on the lake, and the various activities that the area has to offer (tubing on the Saco, mountain coaster at Cranmore, Storyland, bowling in Fryeburg). We also rented paddleboards and enjoyed paddling around the lake. The hummingbirds and bald eagle were daily visitors, and the sunsets over the lake are truly stunning! We also really appreciated that the house is dog-friendly as we love bringing our pup on vacation with us. He loved swimming in the lake as much as we did! The kids loved the bunk room, which is ideal for a family vacation! Only thing that I'll note is that there is no dishwasher in the kitchen - we saw that in other reviews so we were prepared, but it does make for a bit of extra work. But the attributes of this lovely house make it very much worth the stay. We hope to return next summer! Thanks for a great vacation!

Stayed Jul 31, 2021Our crew had a magical time on Kezar Pond. So much fun to use kayaks and canoe provided, saw eagles every day, and spent hours cooking together in the super well equipped kitchen and leisurely dinners talking around big family friendly farm table. Awesome memories! Looking forward to returning.
