Shelton, Washington
Our Lindal Cedar Home "The Getaway" is now being offered as a vacation rental.
This home known as The Getaway, sits near our well know vacation rental,
"The Hideaway." Separated by 300 feet of thick forest, the two homes share the same long driveway and private beach.
The basement is closed off at this time and most likely will stay that way. Upper two floors are 2700 sf.
Both Hideaway and the Getaway have WiFi, Netflix, and others through internet for TV watching. Bring your password for other entertainment options.
12 plus acres of trails, with adjoining undeveloped properties.
1200 foot of waterfront with miles of beach to explore at low tide.
Beach view campfire pit. Oysters and clams are readily available for onsite consumption from the two acres of tidelands.
Sitting on a private cove on Puget Sound, with gorgeous views from every Window! Wildlife abounds! Seals, Eagles, Deer, Otter, Mink, Fish jumping, the rare sighting of a whale! This gorgeous and very private setting is perfect for kayaking, beach combing, and hiking, lots of clams, starfish, sea urchins, and crabs at low tide! A fire pit sits just yards from the water for campfires or cookouts! Hideaway is only 18 miles north of Olympia and 7 miles from Shelton near Arcadia Point.
Did we mention how peaceful it is. Undeveloped properties surround the Getaway, only a few homes are on no bank waterfront for miles. It is perfect for family weekends, Girl Friend Getaways, or anyone that wants to feel that they are truly away from it all.
Sorry, no groups over (8) guests is allowed. Our policy of no parties is from many factors involved, septic system, parking, to unwelcome wear and tear. Large groups can be accommodated with pricing starting at $800. a night.
The property is shaded by tall cedar, fir, alder, and maples, with trails throughout. Hiking the waterfront, year round creek, or upland trails will be a daily routine.
Beach Combing the tidelands at low tide is a must.
Large kitchen, with breakfast bar island making lots of bar top space to sit and watch the cook. The Getaway has an open floor plan with living room central to the kitchen, dining room and sun room.
The drive to the Getaway:
Coming from Olympia you take Lynch Road off the 101, a nice country 8 mile drive. From Shelton you take Arcadia Road for 7 miles . Then you turn onto a long private driveway. The canopy of maples and cedar let you know right away that this isn't a regular rental. The driveway starts off flat, then points down all the way to the waterfront.
When beach combing you won't find many homes and those you do are off the waterfront, so you will most likely have the beach to yourself.
Please check out the Hideaway for addition exterior pictures and property description. Please feel free to ask all questions.
Thank you for checking out the Getaway,
Bill
The large open concept living room, dining, kitchen, sunroom was perfect for family members to visit, and/or have quiet time. The three bedrooms were nice and 2 have sliding doors looking out at the water. The weather was perfect-sunshine no rain! Spent time at the water-fishing, beachcombing, swimming. I would rent again!!
The hideaway was very comfortable and roomy for our family of four. Loved the private beach with kayaks for fishing and the clamming was great. Beautiful property to walk and have a fire in the firepit at night. Will stay again
Beautiful house in a great location. It was perfect for a family group. The kitchen is well stocked. Enjoyed the solitude and the direct access to the beach with the kayaks.
Bill's place is clearly well loved! We were very comfortable....The kitchen was easy to cook in and the table was the perfect size for our group of five to play games and have meals. There is plenty of room to spread out and the beds were all very comfortable. Perched on a hill overlooking the water, those with mobility issues might need a hand getting to the beach, or up the little slope into the house.
Had a very nice stay at the Getaway property. It rained most of the time , but It was winter in Washington, so couldn't enjoy the water. Did hike around which was fun. The drive down to the house was a bit of an adventure, but we were driving 4x4s so it was no problem. Would love to return in the summer.
Our family had such a restful and peaceful vacation. The private water entry with a canoe and kayaks was fantastic. The water gets deep quickly, so little ones need to be careful. Bill supplied a few life jackets, the boats, supplies to harvest clams and oysters…the map showing where to harvest was fantastic. Fresh blackberries right on the side of the property. The TV has an HDMI cord that was easy for us to link into our favorite movies. All in all a really lovely, restful stay! Thank you, Bill!
My family of 3 stayed in the getaway while my brother's family stayed in the hideaway. We enjoyed watching the tides go in and out everyday, kayaking, the firepits and just hanging out. There was a little seal that played in front of the hideaway every evening. He was very entertaining to watch in the water. The house itself is comfortable, felt cozy like staying in your favorite aunties cabin. Plenty of pots pans and kitchen stuff. Having a W/D was awesome!! We did have an issue with the fridge, we lost all our cold groceries as it died overnight. Thank goodness family was in the lower house so we could still cook and eat at the property. Owner responded immediately to all calls and texts. He had a back up mini fridge delivered the next day. It held essentials like milk and coffee creamer. Would stay again.
We very much enjoyed our super quiet stay. The house had what we needed for an entire week and we had plenty of options from the grill to the kitchen, or the fire pit to cook. There are deer that love to hang out up by the house, band tons of sea life down by the shore to explore during different tides... Even seals and sea otters! We had access to kayaks and canoes, vehicle was a wonderful option for exploring the shore. Bill was very responsive if there was a question. This place was the perfect quite space for getting away from the city.
This was a great place to stay for our family of 7. Other relatives from Centralia were able to join us for a day of kayaking and clamming.
We had a great stay. The house is well equipped and the location is perfect. We loved the wildlife and trails. And the owner is responsive and helpful. We will be back.
We had a wonderful time. The place was warm and inviting. We harvested a ton of fresh huge oysters and had a feast. It was fabulous. *This rental says sleeps 8 but was not clear about two persons having to sleep on an air mattress provided. It was comfortable and worked well though. The fridge water dispenser was leaking badly but owner contacted us immediately so we were able to do stop the leak and enjoy the stay. You can harvest mega oysters (and maybe clams) right down in front of the property. That was a blast. Finding a place to clean and remove them was a bit hard. You are not allowed to bring harvested seafood inside the home to clean or cook it. If not allowed to clean inside, you should have a place set up for that. We were only allowed to boil the seafood in a pot over a campfire pit. The pot was missing. The place has major maintenance issues that should be addressed. The outside of the property on one side has a lot of rotted or moldy wood so it is not as inviting as the picture when you first drive up. Between showers we had to wait to get hot water running again so turn up the temp on water heater. The back grill was filthy so we did not use that. The wood stove is not in working order. We started a fire in it and when trying to close it we found that the air intake lever was frozen and would not move, so if we closed it, the house filled up with smoke real fast. So we just had to put it out or leave doors open. The furnace has a maximum of 72 degrees and never actually heated the whole house at all. We had to keep a fire going to stay warm in fireplace. A working wood stove would have been nice. There is ample firewood on site but it is all wet. So bring lots of wood to start and keep fires going. We wanted to boil water for pasta and it never boiled until we put a lid on the pot. 20 mins. We also had a hard time getting oil hot enough to fry something. The stove is old and does not work well. It should be replaced. I would stay here again if maintenance issues are addressed. The owner was great to work with and VERY responsive. One last note: we stay in a lot of these. When trying to remember what the instructions were to cook food, use firewood or any other issues, we had to go back thru emails from owner and website to search for info. A great way to simply that process is to simply have a notebook with ALL instructions readily available onsite.
