Thank you for sharing this amazing property with us!!! So beautiful!! We loved the personal history of your family on the walls!! We will be back!
We really enjoyed our three night stay at Mike and Shelley's place - it's even nicer than the pictures. We liked it so much we just enjoyed the house and walking along the beach and watching the wildlife - seals, herons and even a bald eagle. Mike was very accomodating and the house had everything we needed. Would very much recommend for families and people looking to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the Puget Sound.
The house and property are way better than the posted pictures. The house is super clean, open, sunny. Amazing views. The lawn is well kept and the location right on the beach is perfect and private.
Always a great relaxing time.
We had a great time at harstine island. Great hosts and beautiful spot!
The place was even better than the pictures. The hosts showed the most genuine and thoughtful hospitality. I see why people come back year after year and we’ll probably be among them! This was exactly what our family needed and we can’t thank the hosts enough for making it extra special.
My husband and I stayed a week too short. We will be back. What a glorious spot in the world as well as a finely detailed home.. It was so peaceful and quiet and we are sad to leave but are so fortunate we found Mike and Shellys little peace of heaven .. Walk talks and reading ongoing to sleep every night to a glowing pink skyline. The rooster down the beach Mae us laugh every morning and we loved watching all the wildlife. the frisky little otters the best!!!! Shells everywhere and the sweet smell of the sea. thank you thank you. Mike gave us some treasures from his garden which were delicious for dinners and we ate some baked oysters moron the shore. what more could anyone want. I loved the sign that read if you are fortunate to live by the sea you are fortunate enough.
Such a beautiful and well kept property. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook all our meals. Mike and Shelley were gracious hosts and let us use their boat and canoe. He even picked oysters for our dinner from the front yard. Close walk to the public beach/ clam digging. Wonderful stay. Thank you so much.
Mike & Shelly treated us great - loved staying in their beautiful home! Perfect place to boat & enjoy abundant wildlife. We hope to return!
Incredible property and home. Beautiful views. Very private and relaxing. Nice walks on the beach and kayak trips in past years. Highly recommended.
This is one of a kind cabin, closer to Shelton but secluded enough for a nice quiet vacation. The hosts were awesome and the cabin had everything we needed including an awesome view from multiple rooms. Highly recommend !!
Mike and Shelley’s Harstine Island place goes well beyond just a house on the water, they provide an experience. The location is fantastic right along the water, views amazing, and accommodations very comfortable. On top of that they are wonderful hosts. Sharing from their land and water gardens (think oysters!) and Mike even taking us for a spin around the islands. I now understand why so many folks mention they come back year after year. This is absolutely a repeat. I was able to take my paddle board out every day during high tide and long walks during low tide. We cooked all our meals in a well appointed kitchen and enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings. Don’t hesitate, just book this place.
This is our third sequential year renting this cabin, and each time we stay a little longer, and even after 9 days this last time it still wasn't enough -- we love incredible beauty and peace of this location, the cabin itself, and Mike and Shelley are such amazingly warm and welcoming hosts. Our favorite is to get out on the water on standup paddles or a canoe and watch all the amazing sea creatures (seals, schools of fish, seastars) just beneath you; it's like floating across an aquarium. We eat all our meals outdoors on the patio or beautiful lawn (there are a number of great outdoor seating / lounging options), and thoroughly enjoy evening fires, roasting s'mores, and watching Mt. Rainier turn various shades of pink and purple as the sun sets. My only hesitation in posting a rave review is we'd love to keep it a secret ;) We'll be back next year!
We've stayed in many VRBO beachfront homes and this is the best EVER! The property is spotless and exceeded the online descriptions, the view is gorgeous and the beach is full of wildlife, and the owners, Mike and Shelley, are the nicest people on this planet! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and especially meeting Mike and Shelley - what a wonderful vacation. Thank you, Mike and Shelley!!
The Harstine Cabin is perfect in every way. We would not change a single part of our experience from communication with the management, the gorgeous property, spectacular wildlife, well appointed home, private setting, fresh seafood, I could go on and on. I see several return trips throughout the seasons.
We love returning each year to experience the quiet and the view. Mike and Shelley are wonderful. We appreciate how wonderful it is to unplug and relax.
Thanks again Mike, the time we spent at your place was fantastic.
This house on Herstine Island is an idyllic, practically new A-frame house with yard and ample parking, direct access to oyster and clam-laden private beaches, and a very private views experience. You’re almost guaranteed to see eagles, herons, sea lions, and on a sunny day, Mt Rainier. It is isolated on an island that is a patchwork of mostly private property estates, so pack meals to prep in the fully stocked kitchen or drive several miles to dine. Bring your kayaks. It’s ideal for that. Also, be prepared to be off-grid from a cell phone and wifi perspective. Enjoy!
